Chapter 1152: Chapter 1140: New Year’s Eve Festivities (Part 1)

During the day, they worked at the site, and in the evening, they rehearsed programs. The survivor’s camp hadn’t been this busy and lively for a long time.

Everything was proceeding methodically. Although life was somewhat tough, every survivor was enjoying themselves.

And then New Year’s Eve arrived.

New Year’s Eve, a traditional Huaxia holiday, is a day when people, whether high-ranking officials or ordinary citizens, pause their work to be with their loved ones.

This day is a time to enjoy happiness, and for wanderers, a day to return home.

For the survivors fighting for survival in a post-apocalyptic world, this New Year’s Eve added much color.

Early in the morning, everyone got up early. Today there were no tasks, no work. Except for the guards on duty, the remaining survivors had only one task: to play, have fun, and relax.

To provide enough enjoyment for everyone, Wei Yang, Zhao Lina, and other female officers put in a lot of effort.

Considering the limited entertainment options at the camp, they made use of local materials and came up with many interesting competition projects.

For example, shooting. Since vehicles previously captured contained many deliveries, there were plenty of miscellaneous, less practical items, including toys.

Thus, Wei Yang and others racked their brains and developed these almost forgotten toys.

To their surprise, they managed to come up with quite a few projects.

The shooting event was set up using imitation BB guns to create a shooting range.

These things, at present times, would at least warrant a life sentence, but in a post-apocalyptic world... well, not only won’t you be bothered for using imitation BB guns, even if you’re playing with real guns, nobody will trouble you.

The shooting project involves hitting folded paper targets. Each person has ten bullets, and the winner is the one who hits the most targets.

The winner can participate in a lottery draw, an idea conceived by Demmi.

As she said, competitions with rewards and stimulation are the most interesting.

However, if we’re going to play, we should play it in an unconventional way. Pure material rewards aren’t enough to entertain enthusiasts.

Moreover, material goods are, after all, strategic reserves. If all projects offer material rewards, the camp might face tight resources after the New Year.

So, what did Demmi think up?

Well, she usually loves gathering with a few friends at school to play board games, so she thought of combining games with Truth or Dare and other games.

According to her outlined rules, the competition winners would receive rewards, which include prepared physical prizes and a chance at a lottery.

This lottery isn’t the conventional one we’re familiar with. For added fun, Demmi put notes with activities like "truth" or "dare" into a box.

Winners may draw from it, filled with a variety of possibilities.

You may fortunately draw a card assigning others specified projects, or unluckily draw a punishment project for yourself.

In short, the introduction of this reversal lottery box brought uncertainty to the whole competition.

And it ensured that strong players like Old Xu wouldn’t dominate every game.

After all, no matter how strong you are, bad luck in the draw forcing you into various whimsical tasks would make you wary.

Besides shooting, there’s the ring toss, which isn’t much to say about, except Wei Yang and Yue Guishan specifically made a ring with an iron wire two people wide to increase difficulty.

Also, participants must team up in pairs and bind their legs with cloth strips, then proceed together.

This adds difficulty while ensuring many laughs.

There are many similar projects, but the most exciting one is real-person CS.

Don’t misunderstand, survivors’ hand-held radios don’t have professional real-person CS equipment.

However, when rummaging through the delivery supplies, Zhao Lina found several toy guns sent from the same location.

This gun, unlike the imitation BB gun mentioned, is also a simulated firearm, but uses water bullets!

Zhao Lina was curious, tried one out, and surprisingly, this inconspicuous little gun could shoot over ten meters and shatter upon impact.

Since it uses water bullets, hitting people may cause slight pain but won’t harm them.

Upon hearing this, Demmi immediately proposed the real-person CS idea.

She believed this event could definitely elevate the celebration to a new climax.

For breakfast, Wei Yang made a simplified version of beef noodle soup, a large pot also filled with various dough-made small buns.

Wei Yang learned much of this after joining the team, as she had to ensure the limited resources could satisfy the team members’ appetite as the quartermaster.

Logically, Wei Yang only needed to draw up a corresponding distribution plan and mechanically execute it.

But she, being meticulous in her work, still painstakingly learned and tried, only aiming to make the brothers and sisters at home enjoy as much as possible, eating diversely.

Looking at the table full of snacks, everyone praised them generously.

After breakfast, the celebration officially began.

Led by Wei Yang, everyone first headed to the shooting range.

Called a shooting range, but it’s actually just a table, some crafted mannequins, and guns.

There are quite a variety of guns, from hand QQ, sniper QQ, AK47, seeing the various imitation firearms on the table, Old Lin couldn’t help but wryly think: these weapons are enough for a death sentence.

As the event’s initiator, Demmi explained the rules in detail to everyone.

After listening, every warrior from the Sharp Blade Company registered, except those on duty.

Then Wenquanxin and other young people eagerly signed up.

Before the competition started, everyone thought the winner would be one of the Sharp Blade Company warriors.

After all, they’re professional soldiers, probably handling guns more times than Wenquanxin’s group has had meals.

For them, this is mere child’s play.

However, the result wasn’t quite so.

Old Xu was the first to take the stage, choosing the smallest "Golden Desert Eagle."

Without much thought, he was supported with the loudest cheers from the audience.

Everyone waited for Old Xu to showcase his marksman’s skills.

Unfortunately, when the first BB bullet was fired, Old Xu’s performance was quite surprising.

"Missed the target!" Demmi’s crisp voice came from the target area.

Unconvinced, Old Xu fired two more shots, with the same result.

He shook his head, and after the third shot, he found the problem: the weapon in his hand wasn’t his carried gun, these poor-quality imitation toys lacked precision, so his shots missing wasn’t surprising.

The same problem occurred with other participants as well.

Nevertheless, there had to be a winner; however, the outcome was unexpected for everyone.
