Sacrificed To The Triplet Alpha Kings
Chapter 448: We Cannot Allow Thalia To Claim Lilith
"In exchange for Lilith’s cooperation," Dorian said. "When she’s strong enough, when she’s ready....she attempts to break the Morvaine curse. Free both branches from divine punishment. And if she succeeds....the second branch supports her claim as head of House Morvaine. We reunify the family under her leadership."
"And if she refuses?" Victoria asked.
Dorian’s expression was grave. "Then the second branch makes other arrangements. We cannot allow Thalia to claim Lilith. We cannot allow the direct line to die and curse us all. So if Lilith refuses our help....if she rejects the alliance, Then we’ll be forced to take more aggressive measures to ensure our survival."
"That sounds like a threat," Sebastian said dangerously.
"It’s a statement of political reality," Dorian corrected. "I don’t want to threaten Lilith. I want to help her. But the second branch has made its position clear. Lilith Morvaine’s fate affects all of us. And we will not stand by passively while she decides whether to destroy the entire bloodline."
The room fell into tense silence.
Lilith could feel the bonds pulsing with Sebastian and Lucian’s protective fury. Could feel Victoria’s complicated emotions, old friendship warring with distrust. Could feel Elena’s calculating assessment of threats and opportunities.
"I need time to think," Lilith said finally. "This is a lot. And I’m not making decisions about family alliances and bloodline politics without considering all the implications."
"Reasonable," Dorian said. He reached into his jacket and pulled out a small card. Black. Embossed with silver symbols. "My contact information. When you’re ready to discuss terms, or if you need help before then.....reach out. The second branch stands ready to assist."
He handed the card to Victoria. Not to Lilith. A deliberate choice that acknowledged their old friendship.
Victoria took it without comment.
"I’ll be staying in the territory for a few days," Dorian continued. "At the estate on the northern border. The one that used to belong to Celeste’s family before...." He stopped. "Before. If you need to find me, you’ll know where to look."
He turned to leave. Then paused at the door and looked back at Lilith.
"One more thing," Dorian said. "Thalia isn’t the only Morvaine who wants that power you carry, Lilith. The second branch is divided. Some want to help you. Others want to claim you themselves. Use you to break the curse on their terms. And a few...." He paused. "A few believe the safest option is to kill you before you become powerful enough to threaten us all."
"Another threat?" Lucian asked.
"A warning," Dorian corrected. "The Morvaine family is at war with itself. And you’re standing at the center of it whether you want to be or not. Choose your allies carefully. Because in the coming weeks, you’re going to need them."
Then he left.
The door closed behind him with a quiet finality.

For a long moment, no one spoke.
Then Victoria sank into a chair and pressed her hands to her face.
"This is getting worse," she said. "Every day there are more factions. More threats. More people who want to use Lilith or kill her or claim her for their own purposes."
"The second branch," Elena said thoughtfully. "They’re afraid. Genuinely afraid that if Lilith dies, they’ll inherit the debt. That gives us leverage."
"It also makes us targets," Sebastian said. "If some of them think killing Lilith is safer than helping her...."
"Then we have enemies within the Morvaine family itself," Lucian finished.
Lilith looked at the closed door. At the space where Dorian had been standing.
"He said the family is at war with itself," Lilith said quietly. "That I’m at the center. And that I need to choose my allies."
"Do you trust him?" Sebastian asked Victoria.
Victoria was quiet for a long moment. "I trust that Dorian is telling the truth as he sees it. I trust that the second branch is genuinely afraid of inheriting the debt. But do I trust that he’s sharing all his motives? That the alliance he’s offering doesn’t come with strings we haven’t seen yet?" She paused. "No. I don’t trust that."
"Then we’re careful," Elena said. "We don’t reject the offer outright. But we don’t accept it either. We keep Dorian and the second branch at arm’s length while we figure out who among them is genuinely helpful and who is waiting for an opportunity to eliminate the threat Lilith represents."
"Agreed," Sebastian said.
Lilith felt exhaustion press down on her shoulders.
The witches. The demons. Thalia’s approaching arrival. The binding covenant. The supernatural community mobilizing.
And now....family politics. The second branch of her own bloodline divided between helping her and killing her.
"I’m so tired," Lilith said quietly. "I’m so tired of everyone wanting something from me. Of being valuable instead of just....being a person."
Victoria stood and crossed to her. Pulling Lilith into a hug.
"I know," Victoria whispered. "I know it’s too much. But Lilith, we’re going to get through this. All of us. Together."
Lilith wanted to believe her.
But as she looked around the room...at the Alphas, at Elena, at Victoria dying from corruption....
She wondered how many of them would survive what was coming.
And whether she would be the weapon that saved them.
Or the monster that destroyed everything they loved.
***
The argument started small.
Like most devastating things, it began with something that seemed insignificant at the time.
They were in the library after Dorian’s departure. Sebastian, Lucian, Lilith, Victoria, and Elena. Discussing options. Weighing threats. Trying to decide how to respond to the second branch’s offer.
"We should refuse," Sebastian said. His voice was firm. Final. The Alpha tone that expected immediate agreement. "We don’t accept alliances from people who threaten to kill Lilith in the same breath they offer help."
"It wasn’t a threat," Lilith said. "It was a warning. Dorian was telling us that some members of the second branch see me as a threat. That’s different than him personally threatening me."
