Sacrificed To The Triplet Alpha Kings
Chapter 453 The Real Battle Is Coming
The portal she had been maintaining collapsed immediately. The swirling vortex winking out of existence.
No more demons pouring through.
Lilith collapsed to her knees. Gasping. The Veil power retreating back into her core.
She had done it. Closed the portal. Stopped the source.
But the battle was still raging back at the estate.
Lilith forced herself to stand and ran back toward the main building.
The remaining demons were being systematically destroyed now that reinforcements had stopped arriving. Pack warriors working together. Taking down the creatures one by one.
Lilith joined the fight. Using controlled bursts of dual magic. Conserving energy. Being more strategic instead of just unleashing everything at once.
A demon lunged at her. She aged it to dust with death magic.
Another came from behind. She crushed it with vines grown from life magic.
Over and over. Fighting until her entire body ached and her magic felt scraped raw.
And then....
A scream that made Lilith’s blood run cold.
Not demonic. Human.
Female.
Lilith’s head snapped toward the sound.
Near the western wall...
Elena was down.
A massive demon standing over her. Its claws bloody. Elena’s white robes stained red.
Victoria was there. Throwing everything she had at the demon. Green magic blazing. But the creature was massive. Armored. Her attacks barely slowing it.
Lilith ran.
Faster than she had ever run. Magic surging. Dual forces building.
She reached the demon just as it raised its claws to deliver a killing blow to Elena’s prone form.
Lilith unleashed everything.
Life and death magic combined. A wave of power so intense it lit up the entire battlefield.
The demon didn’t just die. It was unmade. Erased from existence. Not even dust remaining.
Lilith fell to her knees beside Elena.
The priestess was conscious but bleeding heavily. A deep gash across her abdomen. Claw marks on her shoulder. Her breathing shallow and labored.
"Elena," Lilith gasped. "No. No no no...."
Victoria was there immediately. Hands glowing with healing magic. "She’s alive but barely. The demon’s claws were poisoned. Some kind of demonic toxin. My magic can’t.....it’s not working on the poison."
"Let me try," Lilith said.
She placed her hands on Elena’s wound.
Life magic poured from her palms. Trying to heal. Trying to knit flesh back together.
But Victoria was right. The poison was interfering. Black veins spreading from the wound. Demonic corruption fighting against life magic.
"It’s not working," Victoria said desperately. "Lilith, I don’t know how to....."
"Death magic," Lilith said suddenly.
"What?" Victoria stared at her.
"The poison is demonic," Lilith said. "Foreign. Invasive. What if I use death magic to kill the poison itself? And then life magic to heal the damage?"
"That’s...." Victoria stopped. "That might work. But Lilith, you’d need perfect control. If you use too much death magic, you’ll kill Elena along with the poison. If you use too little, the poison will spread faster than you can heal."
"I can do it," Lilith said.
She closed her eyes and reached for both currents simultaneously.
Death magic in her left hand. Life magic in her right.
She placed her left hand directly on the wound. On the source of the poison.
Death magic flowing into Elena’s body. Targeting the foreign demonic energy. Killing it. Burning it out cell by cell.
Elena screamed. Her back arching off the ground.
"Keep going!" Victoria said. "It’s working! The black veins are receding!"
Lilith focused harder. More death magic. Hunting down every trace of demonic poison and destroying it.
When the last of the black veins disappeared, when Elena’s body was clean....
Lilith switched hands.
Right hand on the wound. Life magic pouring in. Knitting flesh. Sealing blood vessels. Repairing damage.
Elena’s breathing steadied. Her color improving.
The wound closed. Not perfectly. Scars would remain. But closed enough that she would survive.
Lilith pulled her hands back and collapsed sideways.
Victoria caught her. "You did it. You saved her."
"Is she...." Lilith couldn’t finish.
"She’s alive," Victoria confirmed. "Weak. She’ll need days to recover fully. But alive."
Around them, the battle was ending.
The last of the demons being destroyed. Pack warriors checking for survivors. The organized chaos of post-battle cleanup.
Sebastian and Lucian appeared. Both of them bloody and exhausted but moving.
"Lilith!" Sebastian dropped to his knees beside her. "Are you hurt? I saw you go down...."
"I’m okay," Lilith said. "Just....depleted. Used too much magic."
Lucian was checking Elena. "She’s breathing. Steady pulse. She’ll make it."
Callum approached. Also bloody. A nasty gash on his arm that was already healing. "Alphas. We captured one of them. A demon. Still alive. Barely. But it’s talking."
"Talking?" Sebastian looked up sharply.
"Claiming it was hired," Callum said. "Sent here to test how strong Lilith really is. Said its employers wanted to see what she could do in combat before they...." He stopped.
"Before they what?" Lucian demanded.
"Before they mobilize properly," Callum finished. "It said this was just a test. The real attack is coming. Soon."
Ice slid through Lilith’s veins.
"How soon?" Sebastian asked.
"A week," Callum said. "Maybe less. The demon said multiple factions are coordinating. Covens. Councils. Demon brokers. All of them pooling resources to either capture Lilith or eliminate her before she becomes too dangerous."
"We need to interrogate it," Lucian said. "Find out who hired it. What factions are involved. What they’re planning."
"Already tried," Callum said grimly. "The demon bit down on something. Poison pill. Dead before we could get more information."
Sebastian swore viciously.
Lilith looked around at the destroyed sections of estate. At the wounded pack members being treated. At Elena unconscious but alive. At the evidence of violence and death scattered across the grounds.
"This is my fault," Lilith said quietly. "All of this. They came because of me. Because of what I carry. People got hurt because I’m here."
"No," Sebastian said immediately. He cupped her face and forced her to look at him. "This is not your fault. You didn’t ask to carry the Veil’s essence. You didn’t invite these threats. And Lilith....you also saved us. You closed the portal. You killed that witch. You saved Elena’s life. You fought alongside us and you were devastating."
