Sacrificed To The Triplet Alpha Kings
Chapter 454 We’ll Be Better Partners. Not Just Protectors
"He’s right," Lucian said. "I saw what you did, Lilith. The demons you destroyed. The power you wielded. You’re getting stronger. More controlled. And when the real attack comes....when they mobilize with everything they have....you’re going to be ready."
Lilith wanted to believe them.
But all she could see was the destruction. The wounded. The evidence that being near her made everyone she loved a target.
Victoria helped Lilith to her feet. "Come on. You need rest. Magical depletion is dangerous if left untreated."
They started walking toward the main building.
Around them, pack members were already working. Clearing debris. Repairing walls. Tending to the wounded.
The resilience of a pack that had survived impossible things before and would survive them again.
Agnes appeared with blankets and hot tea. "Luna. You’re hurt. Let me...."
"I’m okay, Agnes," Lilith said. "Just tired. Check on the others first."
Agnes nodded and moved to help the wounded warriors.

They reached the main hall. Elena was being carried on a stretcher to the medical wing. Still unconscious but breathing steadily.
Sebastian and Lucian stayed close to Lilith. Not smothering. Just...present. Supportive.
"We need to talk," Lilith said quietly. "About earlier. About the argument. About...everything."
"Later," Sebastian said. "Right now you need rest."
"No," Lilith said. "Now. Because Sebastian, Lucian....I’m sorry. I’m sorry for exploding at you. For saying you were suffocating me. For...."
"Don’t apologize," Lucian interrupted. "You were right. We were being overprotective. Trying to control things we can’t control because we’re terrified of losing you. But Lilith....that’s not fair to you. You deserve choices. Agency. A say in your own life."
"We’ll do better," Sebastian promised. "We’ll ask instead of deciding. We’ll listen instead of dictating. We’ll...." He paused. "We’ll be better partners. Not just protectors."
Lilith felt tears burn behind her eyes. "I love you both. So much. And I know you’re scared. I’m scared too. But we have to face this together. As equals. Not as protectors and protected."
"Agreed," Sebastian said.
Lucian pulled her into a hug. "Together. Whatever comes. We face it together."
They stood there for a moment. The three of them. Battered and exhausted.
Then Lilith pulled back and looked at both of them.
"The demon was right," Lilith said. "This was just a test. The real threat is coming. Within a week. And when it does....when they come with everything they have....I need to be ready."
"Then we train harder," Sebastian said. "Every day. Push faster. No holding back."
"And we prepare the pack," Lucian added. "Fortify defenses. Stockpile weapons. Make sure everyone knows what’s coming."
"And we consider alliances," Lilith said. Looking at both of them. "Carefully. Strategically. But we consider them. Because facing coordinated supernatural factions alone is suicide."
Sebastian looked like he wanted to argue. But he also knew Lilith was right.
"We’ll consider them," Sebastian agreed. "Together. As equals."
Lilith nodded.
She looked out at the destroyed estate grounds. At the evidence of violence. At the beginning of the war that was coming.
And she made a silent vow.
When they came....when the covens and councils and factions mobilized....
She would be ready.
She would be strong enough to protect the people she loved.
Strong enough to face Thalia when she finally arrived.
Strong enough to survive.
Whatever it took.

*THE NEXT MORNING*
Morning light crept through the medical wing windows like an unwelcome guest.
Lilith sat in a chair beside Elena’s bed and watched the priestess sleep. Her breathing was steady now. Deep. The kind of rest that came after surviving something that should have killed you.
The wound across Elena’s abdomen was closed....sealed by the combination of death magic that killed the poison and life magic that knit flesh back together. Scars remained. Angry red lines that would fade with time but never disappear completely.
Evidence of violence. Evidence of survival. Evidence that Lilith’s unprecedented power could do more than just destroy.
Around them, the medical wing was quiet. A few other injured pack members occupying beds further down the hall. Warriors who had fought demons and lived to tell about it. The lucky ones.
Seventeen pack members had died in the attack. Seventeen funerals to plan. Seventeen families grieving losses that could have been prevented if Lilith had never come here.
The guilt sat heavy in her chest like a stone she couldn’t swallow.
Victoria appeared in the doorway carrying two cups of tea. She looked exhausted....dark circles under her eyes, the black veins of corruption more visible than they had been yesterday, moving slowly like every step hurt.
"You should rest," Victoria said quietly, crossing to hand Lilith one of the cups. "You used a lot of magic yesterday. Magical depletion is dangerous."
"So is leaving Elena alone," Lilith said. She took the tea but didn’t drink. Just held it. Letting the warmth seep into her cold hands. "What if she wakes up and no one’s here? What if the wound reopens? What if...."
"Lilith." Victoria sat down in the chair beside her. "Elena is stable. I’ve checked her three times in the last hour. The poison is gone. The wound is healing. She’s going to be okay."
"Because I saved her," Lilith said quietly. "Because I combined both magics and burned the poison out. But Aunt Victoria....what if I hadn’t been able to? What if I’d used too much death magic and killed her? What if...."
"You didn’t," Victoria interrupted firmly. "You controlled it perfectly. You saved her life. Stop torturing yourself with what-ifs."
Lilith finally looked at her aunt. At the woman who had sacrificed everything to bring her back from death and was now dying for it.
"How do you do it?" Lilith asked. "How do you carry the guilt of impossible choices?"
Victoria was quiet for a long moment. Then she said, "You remind yourself that the alternative was worse. I made choices that led to your resurrection. Choices that corrupted my magic and bound you to Thalia and cost Nicholas his life.
