Chapter 307: Entering the Fray

"It would be a shame to just retreat like that, wouldn't it?" Chu Qiguang mused.

"What's the alternative then?" Qiao Zhi exclaimed. "Don't tell me you're thinking of fighting Li Yaofeng!"

Chu Qiguang stroked his chin thoughtfully, then asked, "Is there anyone nearby we can call upon?"

"Ning Chigong shouldn't be far away," Qiao Zhi replied.

"Bring him here," Chu Qiguang instructed.

Qiao Zhi was still somewhat hesitant, but at Chu Qiguang's insistence, he quickly left to fetch Ning Chigong.

Meanwhile, Jiang Xusheng was charging straight at Li Yaofeng in a full-frontal assault, his spear aimed directly ahead.

A mocking sneer appeared on Li Yaofeng's face as he engaged Jiang Xusheng with his bare hands, not even bothering to use his Dao arts.

Jiang Xusheng's eyes narrowed slightly as he thrust his spear at Li Yaofeng with all his might. However, Li Yaofeng's sleeve suddenly became as hard as rock, reinforced by layer upon layer of gale force, and came crashing down on the tip of the spear.

Jiang Xusheng's spear was stopped cold in its tracks. Li Yaofeng's sleeve then returned to its soft, flowing state, and gently wrapped itself around the spear before wrenching it from Jiang Xusheng's grasp.

"You call yourself a martial artist when you can't even hold on to your weapon properly?" Li Yaofeng sneered. With a flick of his wrist, he sent the spear flying back at Jiang Xusheng, striking him squarely in the chest.

A resounding clang rang out as Jiang Xusheng's armor caved in. Blood spewed from his mouth as he was sent flying through the air.

The other two Dao Comprehension Seeds charged onto the scene and valiantly thrust their spears at Li Yaofeng, but they may as well have been a pair of infants prodding at a mountain with toy swords.

Fu Haotian stood farther away, holding his final Palm Lightning Talisman with an indecisive look on his face. Even now, he still had no idea what ability Li Yaofeng had used to evade the previous bolt of lightning.

Furthermore, he didn't know what the invisible Zhang Fengyun was up to.

The situation on the battlefield was worsening by the second, but Chu Qiguang continued to bide his time. He knew that there was no way the Demon Vanquishing Department would simply allow three of its Dao Comprehension Seeds to perish like this, so they had to have more tricks up their sleeves.

On the battlefield, Li Yaofeng seemed to have grown bored of entertaining the two Dao Comprehension Seeds. He swept his right arm through the air, transforming it into the same whip-like appendage as before.

The crimson whip instantly shattered their spears before nimbly piercing through the gaps in their armor, and both of them immediately fell unconscious. Blood gushed from the gaps in their armor at an alarming rate, quickly forming large puddles beneath them.

Just as they were about to bleed out, Li Yaofeng suddenly turned around with a smile and reached for the empty air behind him as he chuckled, "Finally decided to make a move, have you?"

However, his expression then abruptly stiffened as a vice-like grip closed around his shoulder. Immediately afterward, a resounding thump rang out, and his head exploded.

At the same time, the sound of crashing waves filled the air, as though a turbulent river had surged into the temple. In reality, it was the sound of a single man's qi and blood circulating.

All of a sudden, the temperature began to rise rapidly, and large sections of Li Yaofeng's headless body were swiftly burned.

The air became so hot that it hurt to breathe, forcing Fu Haotian and the others to hurriedly retreat before they were burned as well.

The oppressive heat instantly incinerated a Concealment Talisman, revealing a massive, hulking figure.

The man stood over five meters tall and resembled a small mountain beside Li Yaofeng.

One of his hands was clamped firmly around Li Yaofeng's headless body, and his teeth gleamed as he flashed a toothy grin.

It was none other than Bai Shihe, the Dao Comprehension-state martial god of the Hunter Hand Faction. He had secretly used a Concealment Talisman and hidden nearby this entire time, waiting for an opportunity to strike.

After pulverizing Li Yaofeng's head Bai Shihe stepped forward and unleashed a devastating punch, blowing a massive hole through Li Yaofeng's abdomen.

Large plumes of water vapor rose from Li Yaofeng's body as his skin, flesh, blood, and internal organs rapidly evaporated.

Fu Haotian also seized the opportunity to activate his final Palm Lightning Talisman, sending a bolt of lightning crashing into Li Yaofeng's ruined body. However, Li Yaofeng's voice rang out from the charred black body, and he sounded as composed as ever.

"I didn't think you would come here, Bai Shihe. Aren't you worried that the fiends will attack the Heaven Set Manor in your absence?"

"You should worry about yourself," Bai Shihe sneered, and layer upon layer of gale force erupted from his body as he snapped Li Yaofeng's shoulder like a twig.

At the same time, Bai Shihe threw another punch at Li Yaofeng, but this time, he failed to strike his target.

Once again, Li Yaofeng's body disintegrated into a wave of blood. In the blink of an eye, he reappeared over ten meters away.

The heat radiating from Bai Shihe's body grew even more oppressive. The air around him warped beyond recognition, while the ground beneath his feet had been charred black. Meanwhile, the wave of blood had already reformed into Li Yaofeng, whose body was now completely unscathed.

Bai Shihe unleashed a barrage of punches, but Li Yaofeng evaded every single one with ease. He seemed to be using the same ability that had allowed him to avoid Fu Haotian's bolt of lightning earlier. However, simply being in close proximity to Bai Shihe caused burns and welts to appear all over his body.

All the while, bursts of invisible force constantly struck Bai Shihe, seemingly from yet another of Li Yaofeng's abilities.

By this point, Zhang Fengyun's Concealment Talisman had also burned out, and she sprang back in retreat.

Right at that moment, a giant silver cat fiend leaped onto the scene and darted toward the two fallen Dao Comprehension Seeds.
