Chapter 308: Alliance Proposal

As Chu Qiguang rushed onto the battlefield, Ning Chigong and Liu Yao stood behind him with uneasy looks on their faces.

Qiao Zhi had initially planned to summon only Ning Chigong, but Liu Yao had also rushed to the Daoist temple after spotting the fire from afar, concerned for Hao Xiantong's safety.

After meeting up with Ning Chigong, Liu Yao was also rounded up by Qiao Zhi.

Chu Qiguang had used the Heavenly Fiend Foundation Establishment Technique to transform the two into a monkey fiend and a chicken fiend. Standing in the middle of a burning Daoist temple in their fiendish forms made them feel extremely uneasy. It felt like running naked through the night with the constant risk of being caught, and the sight of Li Yaofeng and Bai Shihe only made their anxiety worse.

Ning Chigong was familiar with both men, so he immediately recognized them. Although Liu Yao had no idea who they were, it quickly became apparent to him that they were both Dao Comprehension-state cultivators.

Liu Yao and Ning Chigong could hardly believe their ears.

The cat fiend had just told them that he intended to join a battle between two Dao Comprehension state cultivators with the objective of abducting a pair of Dao Comprehension Seeds from right under their noses!

The two of them exchanged a glance, each seeing his own despair and disbelief reflected in the other's eyes.

Is this bastard insane?! Ning Chigong screamed inwardly. If he wants to get himself killed, then he can be my guest, but why is he dragging me into this? I've spent years getting to this point. I can't just throw my life away like this!

Meanwhile, a terrifying possibility had just occurred to Liu Yao.

If this cat fiend dies here, will I be able to turn back into a human? Will I have to live out the rest of my life as a fiend?

The two of them were just about to dissuade Chu Qiguang when he suddenly rushed out into the open, racing straight toward the two unconscious Dao Comprehension Seeds.

Liu Yao's and Ning Chigong's hearts sank at the sight of this. They turned to flee, only to run headfirst into Qiao Zhi.

"Don't even think about it! If you try to run, I'll scream!"

Meanwhile, Bai Shihe's and Li Yaofeng's attention was instantly drawn to Chu Qiguang as soon as he sprang onto the battlefield.

Li Yaofeng raised an eyebrow. Without so much as lifting a finger, he sent a burst of immense force crashing into Chu Qiguang from afar and sent him flying.

Chu Qiguang's brows furrowed slightly as he steadied himself before rushing toward the two Dao Comprehension Seeds again.

Bai Shihe extended a hand in Chu Qiguang, then flicked his five fingers in succession, releasing five drops of blood that radiated tremendous heat.

The drops of blood crashed into the ground directly in Chu Qiguang's path like a barrage of firebombs.

Chu Qiguang didn't dare to face the power of two Dao Comprehension-state cultivators head-on, so he could only spring backward in retreat.

The two Dao Comprehension state cultivators clearly didn't regard him as a threat. After forcing him back, they quickly returned their attention to their battle.

"You look like you could really use my help, Bai Shihe. What do you say we join forces?" Chu Qiguang proposed.

Bai Shihe offered no response other than a disdainful sneer.

"You think it's a good idea to pit yourself against me?" Li Yaofeng scoffed coldly before abruptly turning his gaze toward Chu Qiguang.

His eyes began glowing a mesmerizing purple as he launched bursts of invisible force at Chu Qiguang.

A series of loud thumps rang out as numerous powerful, invisible palm strikes seemed to strike Chu Qiguang in an instant, tearing tufts of silver fur from his body and shattering the ground beneath his paws.

The barrage of invisible palm strikes made Chu Qiguang feel as if his body were about to fall apart at the seams. If an ordinary fifth-state martial artist had been in his position, they would've already been reduced to mincemeat.

Clearly, these were the same bursts of invisible force that had been bombarding Bai Shihe.

Li Yaofeng was rather taken aback to see Chu Qiguang had survived the assault, and he remarked with an intrigued expression, "You'd make a very interesting demon."

All of a sudden, Li Yaofeng's arms fell limp and extended all the way to the ground. They then fused together and transformed into a crimson panther covered in countless black runes.

"Capture him and refine him into a demon!" Li Yaofeng ordered, and the crimson pather instantly obeyed, snarling menacingly as it pounced at Chu Qiguang.

"You think you can afford to get distracted, Li Yaofeng? What do you take me for?" Shi Baihe roared furiously. He sprang forward with a level of speed and agility that belied his enormous stature, instantly closing the distance between himself and Li Yaofeng.

By this point in the battle, his qi and blood had already reached their peak and were coursing through his veins like molten lava.

He formed a hand seal with both hands, and a plume of blood mist erupted from his body alongside a wave of gale force.

At such close range, Li Yaofeng had no time to evade. A loud sizzling sound rang out as his body began melting into a puddle of blood.

Eager to press his advantage, Bai Shihe switched to a different hand seal to unleash a follow-up attack.

However, before he could do so, a cold harrumph rang out from the puddle of blood that Li Yaofeng had dissolved into.

Throughout the battle, Li Yaofeng had sprayed blood all over the battlefield in a seemingly haphazard manner. In reality, however, every splatter had been placed with meticulous precision.

In the blink of an eye, all the blood strewn scattered across the ground transformed into crimson runes, with Bai Shihe standing at the very center of the runic formation.

Immediately afterward, the bloody runes began twisting and writhing at Li Yaofeng's command. Bai Shihe was instantly struck by a sense of disorientation as countless hallucinations flashed before his eyes.

It felt as if a demonic tainting had been planted directly inside his body, and he could feel himself being pushed into the void.

As he lost touch with reality, Bai Shihe could no longer control his blazing qi and blood, and his entire body erupted into flames.
