Chapter 1297: Chapter 1297: Forcing the Main Wife to Step Down
Summer Sutton’s movements froze as she ate, her expression slowly solidifying.
Watt Bennet also seemed unprepared for Lorraine Hughes to bring up that night’s events in front of so many people, his face darkened.
The atmosphere in the restaurant shifted from lively to tense in an instant.
The air pressure at their table plummeted several degrees.
Summer Sutton slowly turned her face, glanced at Watt Bennet, then shifted her gaze to Lorraine Hughes, waiting for her next words.
Lorraine Hughes slowly stood up, walking step by step towards Watt Bennet, her voice crisp between the three, "That night, we were indeed together!"
Summer Sutton’s ears buzzed as if something had exploded, her fingertips repeatedly digging into her palm.
Lorraine Hughes’ words echoed over and over in her ears.
Summer Sutton had known for a long time that Lorraine Hughes and Watt Bennet had had a night together, but hearing it directly from Lorraine’s mouth brought a completely different kind of shock.
She thought that given enough time, she’d slowly forget about it or try to accept reality.
But Lorraine Hughes mentioning it was like having an old wound ripped open, the pain in Summer Sutton’s chest nearly exploding.
She sat rigidly in the same position, her whole body stiff, hands trembling while holding chopsticks, close to losing her grip.
Watt Bennet’s expression had turned icy cold.
He fully understood Lorraine Hughes’ intentions in saying this at such a moment.
Seeing his relationship with Summer Sutton barely easing, choosing this moment to speak seemed intended to push their relationship back to freezing point.
Summer Sutton’s body trembled, clearly enraged.
Her mind was blank, Lorraine Hughes’ words buzzing incessantly, her face pale and frightening.
Lorraine Hughes watched her calmly, her lips hinting at a slight curve.
"I’m not saying this to make Mr. Bennet take responsibility for that night, but for a woman, such things don’t go away as if they never happened. I believe Mr. Bennet has the right to know the truth of that night," she explained casually.
"Enough!" Watt Bennet coldly reprimanded her, grabbing Summer Sutton’s hand and pulling her out of the restaurant, "Let’s find another place to eat!"
After such an event, how could Summer Sutton have any mood for eating?
Stiffly following him, her steps were unsteady on the way out.
Watt Bennet seemed somewhat angry, slamming the car door shut and starting the engine with a roar.
Not choosing another restaurant, they went home and ordered takeout; while waiting, he kept staring at Summer Sutton.
Summer Sutton’s complexion remained pale, as if she hadn’t recovered from the earlier incident.
Lorraine Hughes clearly understood her, knowing precisely what Summer cared about most, and cruelly stabbed at that point.
Summer Sutton sat rigidly on the sofa, maintaining the same position for a long time after returning home, while Watt Bennet was contemplating how to resolve this issue, she suddenly stood up.
Without a word, Summer Sutton opened her laptop.
Her fingertips tapped rapidly on the computer, seemingly writing something.
Watt Bennet didn’t understand her actions now.
After such an incident, wasn’t she supposed to throw a tantrum at him, argue, or give the cold shoulder for a few days?
The first reaction was: what is she doing on the computer?
