Chapter 1440: Settling the Score (Part 1)

Watt Bennet was driving, slowly heading towards the mountain resort where he had an appointment with Ryan Walyon.

The night was heavy, with no moon or stars, and a mass of dark clouds pressed heavily on the night sky. It looked like it might rain later.

The mountain road was not easy to navigate, steep and challenging even during the daytime, let alone at night. Fortunately, Watt Bennet’s driving skills were solid, and the car moved steadily along.

In the darkness, as he drove through the winding mountain roads, just a few hundred meters from the agreed resort, Watt’s car had just turned a corner when suddenly he heard the rumble of rocks falling behind him, seemingly the result of a landslide.

When he turned back, the road behind him was already blocked.

Above, the clouds remained, but the rain hadn’t begun to fall yet.

Landslides usually occur after heavy rain, yet the ground was still dry.

Watt Bennet stared briefly at what was behind him and immediately understood what had happened.

Without any trace of emotion on his face, his car continued to drive steadily towards the resort.

After arriving at the resort and being led by the staff to a relatively secluded room, he found Ryan Walyon already waiting in the private room.

“You’re here!” Ryan raised his eyes and cast a brief glance at him, casually pouring tea.

Watt Bennet glanced indifferently around the environment, then walked over with long strides and sat opposite Ryan.

“What would you like to eat? I’ll have someone send it over.” Ryan pushed a cup of tea towards him, picking up the menu as if to browse, but Watt Bennet stopped him.

“The reason you invited me here, it can’t be just as simple as having a meal, right?” His lips parted slightly, his voice cool.

Ryan’s hand paused as he flipped through the menu, lowering his face in silence for a moment, then slowly lifted his head.

His gaze aligned with Watt Bennet’s, fixing on him, scanning the face outside his mask up and down, back and forth several times, he pushed the menu to the side, “You’re still as smart as ever, Adrian Walyon!”

Watt Bennet had guessed Ryan’s entire purpose for this dinner when he received the invitation.

Being called Adrian now didn’t surprise him at all.

His expression remained indifferent, as calm and dead as still water without any ripples.

This countenance unexpectedly surprised Ryan a little.

Adrian Walyon knew everything!

Yet, why did he still choose to come knowing all this?

As if understanding his confusion, Watt Bennet, after being scrutinized for a while, slowly opened his mouth, “I have only one reason for coming!”

After a brief pause, his tone suddenly turned cold, “Tell me, did you have any involvement in the previous airplane accident?”

Even at this moment, he still believed that Ryan couldn’t be that ruthless towards him.

Watt Bennet actually knew all of Bryce Walyon’s ambitions and suspected that Bryce was also involved in the crash incident at the time.

But that wasn’t what concerned him. What mattered was Ryan, his childhood friend, and brother, whether he would harm him for the sake of family interests!

Up until now, he was still willing to believe in Ryan.

Ryan remained silent for a long time after his words, and when he looked at Watt Bennet again, a flicker appeared in his eyes, but the words that came out were, “You guessed right, I was the planner.”
