’Who moves in together after a one-night stand?’

She had already fallen into one trap; she wasn’t about to fall into another.

She had to summon all her courage to say this, looking directly into Dylan Heston’s deep, unreadable eyes.

"You mean you’re not going to take responsibility for what happened?" His gaze sharpened. Nancy Hughes stood up. "Um, I should get going."

She wanted to leave but couldn’t find her purse. Turning back, she gave an awkward smile. "Where’s my purse?"

"On the sofa."

"Thanks!"

Muttering her thanks, she hurried over to the sofa, grabbed her purse, and left.

The same road, the same panic, the same helplessness.

Only when she was safely in a taxi did she finally dare to take a deep breath.

The look Dylan Heston had given her just now was cold and menacing, instantly reminding her of who he was.

’The Dylan Heston from the rumors... he would have a look just like that.’

It had truly scared her to death.

The first thing she did when she got back to her apartment was take a long, hot bath.

Back at Dylan Heston’s apartment, she hadn’t dared to examine the state she was in.

Now, with her clothes off, she saw the marks on her body. It was hard to imagine the passion of the previous night.

’Oh my God.’ Covering her blushing face, she stared at her reflection in disbelief. ’What in the world happened between me and Dylan Heston last night?’

Her body still ached a little as she sank into the hot water.

The water rose past her neck, its warmth enveloping her arms, and her body began to relax.

She closed her eyes, leaned her head back against the rim of the tub, and tried to remember.

When she was grabbing her purse from the sofa earlier, a tiny fragment of a memory had come back to her.

The two of them were on the sofa, her purse tossed to the side.

She had apparently only slept for a few hours before the doorbell jolted her awake.

Severely sleep-deprived and with a splitting headache, she groggily stumbled out of bed and went to open the door.

"Who is it?!" she grumbled, yanking the door open and squinting at the people outside.

One was Dylan Heston. The other was a sour-faced Hannah Gunn.

The sight of Dylan Heston made alarm bells go off in her head, and she was instantly wide awake.

’Didn’t we already settle things? Why is he here again?!’

’And he brought Hannah Gunn with him! Don’t tell me he was so humiliated by my rejection that he brought her here just to spite me?’

The reality was completely different from what she’d imagined. Dylan Heston stepped forward and pulled her into his arms. "Hannah, this is your sister-in-law!"

Hannah Gunn’s eyes instantly welled up. On the way over, she had refused to believe that Dylan Heston had a girlfriend, and seeing it in person only made her more incredulous.

She’d met this Nancy Hughes before. She was one of her father’s students. The last time was clearly the first time they had ever met.

"Don, you’re lying to me! She is not!" Hannah Gunn said defiantly.

Dylan Heston ignored her and turned to Nancy Hughes. "Just waking up? Have you had breakfast?"

Hannah Gunn looked like she was about to cry. ’Isn’t he going to comfort her at all?’

Ignoring his question, Nancy Hughes said, her voice hoarse, "Let go of me first!"

"Getting shy again?"

Nancy Hughes shot him a look. ’Who’s getting shy?!’

She wanted to explain her relationship with Dylan Heston to Hannah Gunn, but with his hand firmly on her waist, any explanation she could offer would sound feeble and unconvincing.

Presumably, no woman madly in love could accept her man being involved with someone else.

"Hannah, please listen to me. It’s not what you think!" Nancy Hughes pulled Dylan Heston’s hand off her and took a step forward, but Hannah Gunn batted her away.

"Don’t talk to me! I don’t like you!"

"..." Nancy looked at her hand, which was now red from being slapped away. ’Are all kids this hot-tempered nowadays?’

"No, that’s not it. We just have a normal relationship. He’s just teasing you."

As she explained, Nancy turned to shoot a pleading look at Dylan Heston. ’Why isn’t he saying anything?’

Dylan Heston just stood there, looking as if none of this had anything to do with him.

Nancy’s head started to throb with anxiety. She walked right up to Dylan Heston. "You have to say something to her!"

Dylan Heston looked down at her. "What do you want me to explain?"

’Hannah Gunn is on the verge of tears, her eyes are as red as a rabbit’s. Can’t he see that?’

"Just tell her the truth! Hurry up and explain!" Nancy shoved him forward, figuring Hannah would only listen to him.

"Hannah, stop making a scene. From now on, whenever you see her, you’re to call her sister-in-law."

His "explanation" was just adding fuel to the fire. Nancy suddenly had the urge to give him a vicious kick and send him flying.

Things were just getting worse and worse. Furious, Hannah Gunn burst into tears and ran out.
