Chapter 865: Chapter 865: Now You Know Who Understands Master Better!

Tianyan Sect, Peak of One Big Happy Family.

"Lazy monk! All you do every day is lie around here basking in the sun!"

San Dong reached out and forcefully slapped Yuankong’s lazy face.

The force was gentle — for Yuankong it was more of a massage. Of course, Yuankong understood that this San Dong, who was nearly approaching Foundation Establishment, could likely have slapped his head right into the soil if she truly used her strength.

He had no idea where Chu Xingchen had found such a pure flower spirit.

Even stranger that after this flower spirit had been under Chu Xingchen’s care for so long, she remained so innocent.

Yuankong opened his hazy eyes and said lazily:

"You don’t even know who your Sect Master had me working with, what he had me doing. No rest every day — either flying or fighting. The rare chance to rest, and lying here isn’t out of line."

Yuankong spoke, adjusted his position, and turned over.

As expected, San Dong’s little hand landed right on the spot Yuankong wanted rubbed, with gentle and moderate pressure.

Yuankong smiled with satisfaction.

San Dong pushed at Yuankong, her tone dissatisfied:

"Every day you do nothing! You eat so much! You won’t even water the herb garden! And you call yourself a Golden Core cultivator!"

He had bullied Qian Qing, made her angry, and when he came back to apologize, this was his attitude.

Waking only when the sun was high, then finding a place to lie in the sun.

And he even had the nerve to ask Qian Qing for fruit juice.

This would have been fine for a while, but it had been months now, and Yuankong was still like this.

Qian Qing had asked him to water the modest herb garden. A Golden Core cultivator — raising a hand and blinking would do it. But this lazy monk said it was too troublesome and he didn’t want to do it, leaving Qian Qing, a martial artist, to bend over and water each plant one by one!

Qian Qing was such a good person!

San Dong had a temper too! Today she would make this lazy monk get up and water the plants!

She clenched both fists and began pounding on Yuankong’s back to let him know just how formidable she was.

"Mmm..." Yuankong hummed softly. Without needing San Dong to adjust, he naturally shifted his body so her strikes landed accurately.

No wonder when he was young, Chu Xingchen had liked to tease him — if it was this entertaining...

After pounding for a while, San Dong suddenly stopped.

Yuankong lay on his side and said with his eyes closed: "Can I lie here a bit longer and then go?"

"Even if you don’t go, that’s fine."

Behind him came Qian Qing’s icy voice.

Yuankong’s eyes snapped open. Just as he was about to prop himself up, Qian Qing’s powerful foot came stomping down.

Bam!

The force was tremendous.

Yuankong offered no resistance. The kick planted him firmly back on the ground, the soft grass even sinking a bit. His whole body went limp and he collapsed right where he lay.

San Dong’s little hand quickly reached for the spot where Yuankong had been kicked, her tone somewhat shocked:

"Qian Qing, you used too much force! What if he’s hurt?"

"That would serve him right." Qian Qing snorted coldly, looking at Yuankong. "A dignified Golden Core cultivator — that kick was like tickling him. Next time, San Dong, you need to use this much force for him to feel anything. Why aren’t you getting up?"

Yuankong sighed softly and propped himself up:

"That’s not true at all... that kick nearly took my life."

Qian Qing looked at Yuankong, her tone serious:

"You saved me. You raised me. Asking me to water for you, asking me to help with work — that’s perfectly natural. I have no complaints, and I think it should be this way."

"But San Dong doesn’t owe you anything. She’s kind to everyone in the sect, and everyone in the sect is kind to her."

"You say Sect Master Chu liked to joke with you when he was young. But Sect Master Chu never once joked with San Dong. He even apologizes to her when he’s been away from the sect for a long time, and he says goodbye to her when he departs."

"You’re a monk who cultivates the Buddha Dharma. How can you not understand some basic principles?"

"Those who are sincere to you should be treated with sincerity in return."

Whether it was San Dong who at the most crucial moment gave Qian Qing’s heart a warm salvation, or...

Yuankong heard these words and looked up at San Dong. He saw that San Dong’s gaze still held some worry — concern that Qian Qing’s kick had truly injured him.

"I’m sorry, Lord San Dong." Yuankong stood and bowed formally to San Dong. "I was wrong. I’m fine. Just now, Lord San Dong’s little fists were a bit pleasant to feel, so I said strange things hoping you’d continue..."

Qian Qing grabbed Yuankong’s shoulder, looked at his bewildered expression, and said through gritted teeth:

"When I said treat people with sincerity, I didn’t mean say creepy things!"

San Dong looked down at her little hands, then up at Yuankong, her eyes full of confusion, as if she truly couldn’t grasp that someone could really be that asking-for-a-beating.

Yuankong nodded in understanding, then continued looking at San Dong:

"In any case, I now understand my mistake. I hope Lord San Dong can forgive me. I will definitely turn over a new leaf. I hope Lord San Dong gives me the chance to stop being a lazy monk and become a good one."

"Since you asked, fine." San Dong clasped both hands behind her back. "From now on, you’re responsible for watering the herb garden! Don’t let Qian Qing help you."

Yuankong nodded repeatedly. "No problem. Leave it to the reformed good monk."

San Dong nodded. "Alright then. San Dong forgives you."

Yuankong smiled at Qian Qing, then headed straight for the herb garden San Dong had cultivated.

Qian Qing sighed and followed after Yuankong.

Yuankong didn’t understand why she was following. Qian Qing’s reason was crisp and straightforward — she was afraid this blockhead monk would mess up even the watering and kill all the spirit plants San Dong had painstakingly grown.

San Dong stood in place, watching the two of them leave, and pondered — this probably counted as making up successfully, didn’t it?

The spirit plants San Dong grew weren’t anything particularly high-end. The conditions and methods for cultivating them weren’t very demanding either.

As a Golden Core cultivator, using spiritual energy for watering was a breeze for Yuankong. He didn’t even need to fetch water — he could simply call it with a technique.

Qian Qing stood to the side, pointing at each different spirit plant and listing the precautions.

Water spheres flew and wove through the air, yet they were directed by Qian Qing’s instructions with pinpoint precision to water each plant.

An herb garden that wasn’t very large was nearly finished in no time.

"Yuankong, it’s been so long. As expected, the older you get, the less cute you become."

From the herb garden entrance came a somewhat familiar voice.

Yuankong turned to look.

Li Yingling still looked the same as when they had first met. Beside her, Li Xingtian remained expressionless as always, standing in place with a menacing air.

Yuankong tapped his fingers to complete the day’s watering task, then smiled and bowed:

"It’s been too long. Senior Sister’s beauty grows more day by day. Second Senior Brother’s cultivation strengthens even further."

Li Yingling narrowed her eyes, a smile playing at her lips:

"The dull-witted monk from before has finally gotten smart and learned to flatter."

Yuankong smiled. "I’ll be following Sect Master Chu in the future. Naturally, I need to learn ahead of time."

"I’ve come back to report to Master and visit San Dong along the way. I didn’t expect you, little Yuankong, to be here." Li Yingling teased. "You’re quite fortunate. I’ll pass along those words to my master as well."

Yuankong looked struck dumb and quickly said, "Don’t..."

Li Yingling pretended not to hear, looking at Li Xingtian beside her with a teasing smile:

"I told you back then — given Master’s personality, Yuankong would definitely come back to sweep the sect."

"You blockhead said Master wouldn’t. Now do you understand who understands Master better?"
