Chapter 864: Chapter 864: Your Master Doesn’t Measure Up to You!

Li Yingling watched Li Xingtian’s expression of someone who had been wronged beyond what any person should endure, and the corners of her mouth couldn’t help but curl upward. She reached out and patted her genuinely hardworking second junior brother, speaking comfortingly:

"That title is quite prestigious. Your senior sister envies it greatly. The moment you announce it, anyone would think you’re extraordinarily clever — a deeply scheming old devil."

"Junior Brother, you should know that in this day and age, it’s far better to be seen as a deeply scheming old devil than to be thought of as a simple-minded cultivator with no intelligence."

Li Xingtian let out a long, slow sigh:

"I always thought ’simple-minded’ was actually a compliment."

"That depends on who says it." Li Yingling’s gaze seemed to pierce through the mist below as she said softly. "If it were me and Master, it probably wouldn’t count. But for San Dong and you, it might actually be a compliment."

"Senior Sister, that insult is a bit too obvious, isn’t it?"

"Heh heh? Is it? Then your ’simple-minded’ wouldn’t be a compliment either."

Li Xingtian was struck silent for a moment, then said helplessly:

"That also sounds like an insult."

Li Yingling didn’t let it go, continuing:

"Oh? Junior Brother has become this perceptive? Then you’re saying ’simple-minded’ is an insult."

Li Xingtian could endure no more. He looked at Li Yingling solemnly and declared:

"Senior Sister, you are truly simple-minded."

The words fell.

A brilliant white radiance pierced through the mist from below, followed by an overwhelmingly powerful surge of Dao Resonance.

All the clouds drifting beneath the peaks were instantly swept up by this wave of Dao Resonance, simultaneously revealing the view that had been hidden beneath.

Within the peaks, several streaks of azure light darted about at tremendous speed. Even Li Xingtian could barely follow them with his eyes.

Then a lateral peak was cleanly severed in half by one of these azure lights.

Before the peak had even begun to collapse downward, the azure light arrived before the two of them.

The azure light gradually receded, and the two saw Bai Xuanling holding a dark-red, stone-like object with her spiritual energy. Upon closer inspection, one could discover that this stone was actually pulsating faintly, like a heart.

Bai Xuanling’s gaze swept over the senior and junior siblings before her:

"You two, quite the mood for chatting idly."

"Senior Sister Bai’s strikes are naturally a sure thing!" Li Yingling first laid on the flattery, then fixed her gaze on the strange object in Bai Xuanling’s hand. "Is this what the code-breaking named it — the ’Two Realms’?"

Bai Xuanling’s spiritual energy flowed. She raised her hand and inscribed several sealing techniques into the object, simultaneously producing several treasures that were obviously quite valuable. After a few operations, all of them were directed to seal the item in her hand.

Once all this was done, Bai Xuanling tossed the object to Li Yingling, her tone calm:

"I searched several times. If your intelligence is correct, this is it."

Li Yingling caught it with her spiritual energy but hadn’t examined it closely.

From all directions, countless rainbow lights began darting and landing, rapidly searching every inch of the ground, clearing out or capturing the fleeing evildoers.

Bai Xuanling had been responsible for quickly securing the key item, in case the opposing side chose to destroy the Two Realms in a desperate last stand.

Once that was done, naturally it was the Tianyan Sect disciples’ turn to thoroughly sweep the area.

Li Yingling held the Two Realms with her spiritual energy. Although she knew this might be the Celestial Demons’ crucial item, its appearance was truly horrifyingly ugly. Just observing it made one feel physically uncomfortable.

She couldn’t hide the look of disgust on her face, but she still carefully examined it, casually counting the Two Realms’ pulsation frequency.

Simultaneously, from below came the sounds of spiritual energy exploding and peaks collapsing.

The two forces had already engaged. Divine abilities clashed, and waves of oppressive aftershocks radiated outward.

Bai Xuanling raised her hand to erect a barrier, isolating these pressure waves, while also looking at the Two Realms in Li Yingling’s hand:

"This thing is extraordinary. It was guarded by three Mahayana-enhanced demon entities. When I seized it so suddenly, I could see they recognized me, yet they still charged at me without any fear. It seems more important to them than their three lives."

"It can absorb spiritual energy, and its capacity is enormous. Each pulse seems to convert the absorbed energy into some strange force."

"It doesn’t seem to have any offensive power. The absorbed spiritual energy is entirely converted into a very strange... Dao Resonance-like energy with extremely strong penetrating power."

"If its only function, given its name ’Two Realms,’ is as I suspect — could these Celestial Demons be using it to connect to the Celestial Demon Realm?"

"However, the name’s hinting is overly obvious, as if deliberately drawing our attention to it."

"I’ve only just encountered this thing. Its specific functions remain unclear."

When Li Yingling finished her examination, she handed the Two Realms with a look of disgust to Li Xingtian beside her:

"Regardless, there’s finally some gain. And since it was code-named, if we didn’t know the code, this thing would have been called the Dihuang Xuanniao Sanhe Jintu."

Bai Xuanling rarely nodded in agreement at these words, looking at Li Yingling with a rather peculiar expression:

"That’s true. Your master runs around everywhere across the Five Continents and Myriad Regions, and it’s inevitable that those Celestial Demons lead him around by the nose. When it comes to actual gains, it might not compare to your casual stroll that stumbled upon such a hidden Celestial Demon nest."

"After all, your master sometimes has too many concerns. He speculates here, speculates there. Unlike you, who just kicks the door down."

Li Yingling looked rather pleased at these words, her tone somewhat proud:

"Master is just using old methods. What does he know about seizing opportunities? Many things require being direct and proactive."

Bai Xuanling clapped repeatedly at these words. "Those words truly resonate with me. Pass along your insights to your master when you get the chance."

Li Yingling wasn’t stupid. Feeling that Bai Xuanling was most likely baiting her into making incriminating remarks, she immediately reined in her expression upon hearing this:

"I was just saying it casually. A little bit of luck is all. When compared, how could I possibly match Master’s superior planning?"

Bai Xuanling saw Li Yingling immediately retreat the moment she took the bait, and looked somewhat displeased:

"You show none of the boldness of a young person willing to take the lead."

Li Yingling dropped the topic and asked about the important matter:

"Should this be sent to Master for inspection first?"

Bai Xuanling glanced at Li Yingling, truly sensing that she had grown quite a bit — she wasn’t so easily duped with a couple of sentences anymore.

Getting to the heart of the matter, Bai Xuanling looked at the Two Realms in Li Xingtian’s hand and spoke very naturally:

"Inspection? What inspection? Does your master have the eye for this? Sending it to him would only get the response that it looks too ugly and shouldn’t have been sent."

"This thing should go straight to Xuanqing Heavenly Sect, for those people who’ve seen all sorts of oddities to study."

"You send a message to your master. If he’s truly curious, he’ll come see for himself."

Li Yingling nodded. She looked downward again.

The three Mahayana demon entities’ forms were gradually shifting, seemingly about to transform into mountain-sized beasts.

Oppressive dread filled the air. Trees flew, stones scattered.

Bai Xuanling’s gaze also flickered toward the scene.

The next instant.

The azure blade left its sheath.

Azure Dao Resonance seemed to descend from the heavens.

A massive, hideous head rolled down the mountainside.
