Chapter 883: Direct Route to the Royal City_2
Like a bubble, it dissolved into scattered motes of light that kept dissipating.
The cannons on the city walls, which had already been fully charged with energy, now slowly dimmed and went out.
Baiyi tapped his fingertips, producing a dull thump-thump.
Time ticked by bit by bit.
The gigantic palace gradually approached that city. By now, the Transcendent fluctuations within the city had decreased a great deal. Judging from some of the disordered houses, they had evacuated in an extreme hurry, so rushed they hadn’t even had time to control their own Power.
Within the city, faint wails and cries drifted out; they came from the commoners injured when their houses collapsed.
The City Lord saw that Baiyi had still made no move and let out a slight sigh of relief.
This Prince Ji’an wasn’t as brutal as the rumors said….
The thought had barely surfaced when a buzzing sound roared through the sky.
The City Lord froze for a moment and looked toward the source of the sound.
Buzz~
A sky-filling swarm of black insects formed a colossal curtain and lunged straight toward the city.
The City Lord’s eyes widened sharply: “You…”
The vast Power that had just begun to rise was instantly suppressed by a mighty force, pinned so hard he couldn’t move an inch.
Baiyi smiled at the City Lord. “What about me?”
The Power inside the City Lord’s body erupted madly. He had traded his only humiliation, only to end up facing the same result—this he could not accept.
A dead-silent aura was nurtured within his body, gradually surfacing onto his Soul.
Baiyi was a bit surprised. These old geezers all seemed to have methods of Burning themselves.
This wasn’t something you could learn just because you wanted to. Baiyi, whether on the Light Side or the Dark Side, possessed no such Specialty or Skills that Burned oneself to forcibly raise one’s strength.
This kind of thing counted as very rare.
If, when Baiyi grew old, he knew he had no way to advance even a fraction further, he too would pay any price to learn something similar.
If he ever got driven into a corner, he wouldn’t let his enemies have an easy time either.
Baiyi watched with great interest. This dead-silent Power was somewhat similar to an Abandoned Dimension, but far, far more low-tier.
When he felt it was about enough, Baiyi softly asked, “Do you want them to be buried with you?”
The not-so-loud voice stunned the East City Lord, who was being crushed under the heavy pressure; his deathlike gaze refocused.
He immediately discovered that the countless Insect Race were frenziedly propagating. While shrouding the city, they actually hadn’t harmed the commoners and Transcendents, but were merely…devouring the city itself.
The Old City Lord’s emotions receded from his eyes; that dead-silent Burning slowly shut down. Baiyi hadn’t waited for that move of Sacrificing his own life to fully form.
Otherwise things would get troublesome later.
Baiyi now had a rough idea what those powerhouses were all busy doing, and at this moment, it was his turn to reap the benefits.
Once the palace flew over the already-ruined city, dark clouds gathered, and a twelve- or thirteen-year-old girl appeared beside Baiyi.
Floating at her side were over ten thousand large Soul Crystals, numerous Epic Level Materials, and even three Root Level plants.
“Father, this is what you asked for.”
Baiyi was very satisfied. He glanced at the East City Lord and said softly, “You’re quite tactful. Then the follow-up work in the cities is yours. If you encounter resistance, nothing of the city will be left.”
The East City Lord lowered his head and slumped in his seat. Looking at the terrified, wailing, or collapsing people below, he nodded. “I understand, King.”
At least…no one died in this round of steamrolling; that was enough.
As for the plundering—as long as he could drag things out a bit, the council side should be able to think of a countermeasure, right?
At least…report to the World Sea Alliance….
The palace’s Speed was extremely fast, trailing one sonic boom after another through the sky. Vast sheets of wind and sand drifted down, attaching themselves to the palace.
The previously calm Attendants were now a bit nervous as well. After all, these things had devoured a massive city within a single minute.
Who knew if that tyrant would suddenly decide to devour them for fun.
Baiyi patted Kexi’s head, his tone carrying a hint of gentleness. “Are you used to the new body?”
“As long as it’s a body Father made, I’ll like it.” Kexi lowered her head, showing a shy side.
Baiyi: ….
“Act normal.”
“Yes, Father.” Kexi’s expression returned to normal in a second. As a Mechanical Life Form—even though one created by Plague Gold—she still had no emotions.
At least, Bai Yi had not bestowed her with something like emotions.
Or rather…he couldn’t.
After all, according to the Moon Side’s research, to obtain things like emotion and creativity, Plague Gold had to be used to replicate brain nerves, neurons, and all sorts of complex structures.
Yet Kexi’s main body was only one nanometer in size. If he wanted to install such a delicate thing as a brain inside such Tiny machinery—
That would mean Baiyi’s micro-tech would have broken through again, pushing toward an even more microscopic level.
Only, if Baiyi did possess more microscopic tech, he’d very likely continue his current style: make Rare Guest’s main body the smallest of all machines, then let it split and split, until it became a super Tiny weapon capable of threatening a God.
So everything Kexi displayed was simulated.
In her understanding, Baiyi skewed more toward what Luoning used to be like.
Of course, Baiyi had no intention of correcting her.
Kexi was 100% loyal and merely wanted Baiyi to care a bit more about her.
These were all minor issues; Baiyi could tolerate a few of her little whims.
As the palace advanced along its route, whenever it encountered a city, the East City Lord would step out and persuade the local City Lord and resistance forces to surrender.
With Baiyi’s intensely oppressive presence, and with the appearance of certain cities that now contained nothing but people as references recorded by Transcendents,
this sort of persuasion was highly successful. Baiyi merely sat there and plundered High Tier resources from city after city, all the way up to this Kingdom’s Royal City.
At this moment, a large number of Transcendents had gathered in the Royal City; there were over a hundred Legendary alone.
This was not a weak force. Their King even possessed the Power of a Tier Ten Legendary and was staring solemnly at the approaching Black Dragon Palace.
Baiyi glanced at the more than thirty City Lords who had been taken captive.
He lightly tapped the armrest with his fingertips and pondered a bit.
“You again, then. Go tell your King not to resist; I’m not really in the mood to kill today.” Baiyi spoke casually, sounding a bit bored.
The East City Lord hesitated slightly and carefully asked, “As a sovereign, the King won’t surrender, and the Royal City can’t be allowed to vanish. How about I persuade the King to hand all the treasures over to Your Grace? What do you think?”
Baiyi glanced to the south and north, then said mildly, “All right, you can all go. Take her with you. If everything is handed over, then go wherever you’re supposed to go, just don’t bother me.”
The East City Lord was stunned. Following Baiyi’s gaze, he looked around, his eyes filled with some surprise but even more confusion.
Prince Ji’an meant for them to stop the other two armies—why?
Didn’t the Anaosai Empire seek conquest?
“Thank you for Your Grace’s mercy.”
The East City Lord bowed deeply, then, together with the thirty-plus City Lords, looked toward Kexi.
Kexi silently took a step forward; her body slowly rose into the air, swiftly flying toward the Royal City with the City Lords.
Baiyi thought for a moment, then stood up. He reclaimed, and a blood-colored Barrier enveloped the area around the throne.
Worker Bees appeared, assembling into a Potion table.
The Extraordinary Items of this World were indeed real; Baiyi didn’t know whether these things could be taken out of Ulrich’s Dream Realm.
So, with Root Level plants now numbering eight orbs, nearly two hundred Small Soul Crystal Cores, thirty medium, and even two large, Baiyi needed to consume them quickly.
As for slaughter….
This Kingdom—no, even this entire World—was likely a Saint’s homeland. Slaughter would 100% cause the Saint to descend early; wouldn’t that be troublesome?
Give him some time to pocket the benefits first, then Summon the Saint, find Ulrich, and finally bolt after obtaining Ulrich’s knowledge Treasure Vault—that would be the most perfect outcome, no?
So even if that King didn’t hand over everything, as long as he handed over more than half, Baiyi would spare this city and let them go resist the other two armies.
One thing was rather a pity, though: this Kingdom—no, perhaps this entire World—seemed to have only one Tier Ten Legendary.
Even if he fought with his life, Mifengna and Drew only needed to avoid the sharp edge for a while to easily take this Kingdom.
So he still had to speed up popping Potions…..
