Chapter 884: Really Want to Kill Something to Ease My Mood...

  • Next Chapter

Royal City.

More than thirty City Lords stood with their heads bowed, looking somewhat ashamed, outside the city wall.

Among them, the East City Lord stood at the forefront, speaking to King Ouno through the defensive shield about the current situation.

In the distance, the enormous palace slowly landed, the massive Blood Cocoon above the Black Dragon Palace drew all eyes, with an aura so oppressive that no one in the area dared to look directly at it.

Kexi looked around, stepped forward, and touched the shield.

Bang~

A soft sound emerged, and Kexi’s hand shed a layer of skin, but it soon solidified again in the illusion, becoming new skin on her hand. Yet, her entire height decreased slightly by two centimeters.

She showed no emotion, merely calculating how much she needed to devour to break the shield.

Once she calculated the value, an inexplicable emotion grew in her soul—discontent.

She had devoured the material of half a world to barely manage to break the shield through energy consumption.

This made Kexi feel a sense of defeat and a faint crisis, as if unable to keep up with her father’s pace.

As she was pondering.

The East City Lord had just finished speaking: “Now Prince Ji’an refrains from using force, and we need time….”

After speaking, he silently awaited King Ouno’s response.

He could feel the complex gazes of nobles and officials above the city gate, filled with admiration, disdain, and even anger.

Yet the East City Lord felt there was nothing to say.

Of course, he could sacrifice for the nation, but what about the city’s civilians?

When he charged out from the city, he never intended to survive, merely to delay time for those Transcendents’ plea for help.

There was even a Teleportation Array within the city leading directly to the Royal City, which he never mentioned.

He believed he had made the right choice, yet being watched by these eyes still made him uncomfortable.

Recalling the past, had he truly gone through with it.

As a representative, including the East City, all would become Purgatory, and billions would perish.

Pondering, he lifted his head, gazing openly at everyone’s eyes, knowing that what Ouno Kingdom needed now was time. After all parties reacted, it would be the time for sacrifice.

The current humiliation would disappear in due time.

King Ouno fell silent, deeply gazing at these bowing City Lords, then at the expressionless little girl persistently touching the shield, and the immense Black Dragon Palace.

“Sigh~”

A soft sigh echoed as the king raised his scepter, a peculiar aura swept across the Royal City.

The owners of those disdainful eyes frowned and began speaking.

“King, what are you doing? Are you as well betraying the honor of Ouno Kingdom, surrendering to power?”

“King, you are the king; how can you…”

“King, this cannot happen; Vicente is foolish, merely seeking excuses for his cowardice. We should fight to the death.”

“King, I swore by faith; in this life, I only fight to the death, never surrender.”

“King….”

The questioning voices gradually erased the dejection in King Ouno’s eyes.

He suddenly turned his head, his muddy eyes becoming incredibly sharp, an immense aura vaguely visible, halting all voices immediately.

“Do you defy my decision?”

As the most Powerful individual in this World, the pressure from him made these people angry but silent.

A king, though disliking the City Lords for allowing the enemy direct access to the Royal City without resistance, knew it was correct.

At least… when the reinforcements arrive, the kingdom only needs to expend resources and money to restore its previous vitality.

Should resistance infuriate this enemy, slaughter would ensue.

Not to mention surviving this enemy’s hands, even if the World Sea Alliance came and helped Ouno Kingdom expel the enemy.

Then there would be no more Ouno Kingdom, Blood Qi would envelop this area.

King Ouno gazed absent-mindedly at them for a moment, then waved his hand: “Vicente.”

The East City Lord stepped forward calmly: “King.”

“Seal their Power, oversee them, and prevent any larger chaos.”

As King Ouno’s orders were issued, those pressured by his aura raised their heads suddenly, looking incredulously at their king.

Fighting for the nation was wrong as well?

Why?

Some Knights’ Faith showed cracks, having sworn under Ouno I’s statue, and yet now….

“King.”

The East City Lord, indeed Vicente, suddenly spoke, his aging voice hesitant.

King Ouno looked at Vicente, his eyes somewhat indifferent, but soon turned gentle: “Anything else to add, East City Lord?”

Though this old guy made the right choice, it set a poor exemplary role, intolerable for a king, yet now over thirty City Lords were below.

He still needed this force, at least not to become an enemy.

Vicente, serving as a City Lord for hundreds of years, seemingly felt something.

He inwardly bitterly laughed but did not show it, instead calmly stated: “What I mentioned before wasn’t shirking responsibility, an outside enemy invades, the City Lord ought to fight to the death….”

King Ouno paused, looking toward the two directions, a renewed glow emerging in his murky eyes.

Vicente halted his words, feeling slightly uncomfortable inside nonetheless.

He took a deep breath, loudly declaring: “Therefore, I, Vicente Husto, am guilty. I am willing to take the guilty officials, jointly head to the northern and southern frontlines, vowing death in resistance against the external enemy!”
