Chapter 289 - 287: The Entire Body is a Treasure
Chapter 289: Chapter 287: The Entire Body is a Treasure
In all this time, this was the first time they had received Shen Yue’s approval and such direct praise.
The two men’s hearts pounded wildly, and they couldn’t suppress the joy on their faces.
They had thought they would never earn Shen Yue’s special regard.
They never expected that Shen Yue would be happy and praise them just for doing what they were supposed to do.
’What she wanted was so simple.’
Ye Lüqi hurriedly said,
"It was no trouble at all. I’m happy to do anything you ask."
A flirtatious smile bloomed on Gu Fangqi’s roguish face as he added,
"Shen Yue, you have no idea. My charm is more than just this. In the future, I’ll show you just how charming I am. Every part of me is a prize."
Hearing this, Shen Yue was left utterly speechless.
’This man’s brain is wired differently.’
’Why would he say something like that in front of everyone?’
Mu Silin and Ye Lüqi stared at Gu Fangqi, both at a loss for words.
While everyone else was thrilled by Shen Yue’s praise, he just had to start advertising himself.
After a moment of speechlessness, Shen Yue looked at him.
"Alright. Keep up the good work. I’ll be waiting to see you show off that charm of yours!"
In truth, she knew very little about Gu Fangqi.
After all, he was always traveling, his whereabouts a mystery.
Luring him to Beastification City had taken special methods and considerable manpower.
It had even taken the Mystic Mechanism Building a great deal of time just to track him down.
This Wolf Emperor was unrestrained and loved his freedom, spending less time with the Wolf Clan than he did eating or drinking.
This made him extremely difficult to control. But now, it seemed he was just a flamboyant wolf, a maverick who liked to do as he pleased.
As if encouraged by her words, Gu Fangqi said,
"Don’t you worry. I will never disappoint you!"
As he spoke, he confidently flicked his long, crimson hair.
Shen Yue’s eye twitched at the sight, and she couldn’t help but glance at Bai Chaosi.
’Great. Someone’s finally here to take over Bai Chaosi’s brand of flamboyance.’
As if reading the teasing look in Shen Yue’s eyes, a hint of embarrassment crept onto Bai Chaosi’s gentle face.
He stared at Gu Fangqi, starting to doubt himself.
’Was I really like that before?’
’Striking poses like that... was that really me?’
The little cubs hadn’t slept long. They woke up shortly after Ye Lüqi and Gu Fangqi returned.
So after finishing their meal, they split up to continue their tasks. Shen Yue, Huang Ziyue, and Si Muye took the little cubs to rejoin the townspeople who were searching for soil.
Meanwhile, Mu Silin, Bai Chaosi, and the others went to build houses and gather the rest of the townsfolk.
Worried the little ones’ feet would get sore, Shen Yue brought Moo Moo along this time, letting three of them ride on its back.
As for the other three, she, Huang Ziyue, and Si Muye each carried one.
Wubao had insisted on bringing the Purple Rabbit, so when they rejoined the townspeople, the group had two pets in tow—a new addition compared to the previous day.
What Shen Yue hadn’t expected was that, while she thought they had arrived quite early, the townspeople had already been searching the area for an hour.
The townspeople gathered around excitedly when they saw them arrive.
"A Yue, you’re here! Quick, come and see. I dug this soil up half an hour ago. Is it any good?"
"Mine too, A Yue! I was up bright and early today and checked several spots. This is what I found. Please, take a look!"
"Right, and ours too!"
The townspeople laid out the samples of soil they had found, placing them side-by-side on the ground for Shen Yue to inspect.
Shen Yue was touched. Seeing their eager, earnest faces, she quickly crouched down and began to examine the soil samples one by one.
But she shook her head as she went down the line.
The hopeful expressions of the townspeople standing before her slowly faded into silence with each shake of her head.
By the time Shen Yue reached the last pile of soil, everyone was holding their breath, hoping for a miracle.
But reality was cruel.
The last sample was also unsuitable.
Shen Yue stood up. Seeing the disappointment on everyone’s faces, her own heart ached.
Just then, Dabao spoke up from his perch on Moo Moo’s back.
"It’s okay! Dabao is here! Dabao will help everyone look. We’ll definitely find some today!"
"Yeah! Er Bao will help look too! We’ll definitely find it!"
The children’s encouragement, delivered in their small, piping voices, was enough to reignite everyone’s confidence.
Everyone stirred into action once more. On Shen Yue’s orders, Moo Moo and the Purple Rabbit followed closely behind the little cubs.
Shen Yue, Huang Ziyue, and Si Muye began to expand their search radius.
If, at first, Shen Yue had only wanted to give this a try...
But now, things were different. She couldn’t let the children and the townspeople down. She had to see this through.
She wanted these people to eat vegetables and fruits grown with their own hands. She was determined to change their lives.
She wouldn’t back down, no matter how difficult the path ahead.
Fueled by this resolve, Shen Yue searched tirelessly.
But what she didn’t see was a pair of predatory eyes in the nearby woods. They were narrowed, glinting with a cold light, and fixed on Wubao out on the plain.
It lifted its heavy paws, stepping onto the loose leaves without making a sound.
Its massive frame exuded the fierce majesty of a forest overlord. It was snow-white from head to tail, its fur as smooth as satin. The light flick of its tail tip seemed to stir a cold glimmer.
It showed no outward hostility, yet it possessed an innate pressure that could make all beasts submit. To look upon it was to witness the advent of an ancient, divine creature.
It had lain in wait in the forest for a long time, as if waiting for this very moment. Its thick whiskers quivered with every heavy breath as it tasted the air, seeking and confirming Wubao’s scent.
At that moment, Wubao was approaching the woods, clutching the Purple Rabbit. The little one dug at the dirt on the ground as he walked.
Liu Bao had wandered off to the side, and Wubao was now less than ten meters from the edge of the woods.
A tiger’s roar tore through the sky from within the woods—
ROAR—
The sound was like the tolling of a great bell—powerful and immense, it pierced straight to the bone and made one’s very blood thrum in their veins.
The surrounding Beastmen instantly dropped to the ground in fear, trembling. The sheer force of that domineering presence was so oppressive they could barely breathe.
Shen Yue’s heart leaped into her throat. She whipped her head around to look toward the woods.
She saw a flash of white, and then Wubao was gone!
Standing nearby, Liu Bao and Si Bao screamed in terror.
"Wubao!"
"Female Mother, Wubao’s been taken!"
In that instant, a tiger’s roar echoed through the forest, shaking the very mountains. A disturbance like a gale tore through the distant trees.
Huang Ziyue and Si Muye instantly appeared in front of the other children, pulling them into a protective embrace.
Shen Yue stood frozen where Wubao had vanished, her gaze fixed on a massive paw print indented in the earth like a deep crater.
Her expression was glacial, and her unnaturally bright eyes blazed with fury.
