Shattered Fate
15.Mountain Hill
Scattered memories began overlapping before Wael's eyes.
A girl around his age... her hair was long, and her features were innocent.
"Those days... how did things come to this...? Damn it... damn it... damn ittt..."
The memories overlapped before his eyes.
Suddenly, her voice pierced through the fog.
"Wael! Are you okay? Answer me!"
She was screaming his name.
The pain in his head intensified until he let out a powerful scream.
His eyes snapped open.
Amira was shaking him anxiously, fear written across her face after his scream startled her.
He sat up, gasping for breath, his breathing rapid, then raised his hand to shield his head from the sunlight.
Amira said:
"It looks like you fell asleep... Did you have a nightmare?"
He remained silent for a moment before answering:
"I don't know... It was just a feeling... I don't know... I've already forgotten it."
Wael's eyes suddenly widened, and his face turned red.
Amira had wrapped her arms around him and whispered:
"Shhh... It's okay. You'll be fine... You're strong, Wael."
A tear slipped from his right eye, and he quickly wiped it away.
"Thank you... Amira."
She smiled.
"You don't have to thank me. It's my duty to support you."
A calm smile appeared on Wael's face, as though she had lifted the weight of his pain for a few moments.
He picked up one of the oars and began helping her row.
"Looks like we're getting close."
---
Bahaa appeared after bringing back sif and dill.
The two were unconscious, so he awakened them using the black aura implanted within their bodies.
He looked at them with contempt.
"How weak you two are... I thought the two of you would be enough to bring him here."
They answered nervously:
"He revealed a power we weren't expecting... Everything was over in the blink of an eye. We couldn't even process what happened."
Bahaa said coldly:
If you encounter this narrative on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
"That explains your weakness... despite the power I gave you."
He raised his hand, and a black aura spread toward their bodies.
In an instant, violent pain overwhelmed them and sent them crashing to the ground, while Bahaa simply watched before saying:
"You still have a chance... but not now."
He fell silent for a moment, then muttered:
"I could have gone and brought him back after the battle ended... Why did you stop me?"
Then a dark voice echoed deep within his mind:
"I told you... bringing him here now will not benefit us. Let him awaken more of his potential. Do not rush if you want to carry out the plan and achieve your goal."
"I know you can go and defeat him easily... but that will not accomplish our objective."
Bahaa sighed.
"What now?"
The voice answered:
"He will certainly train, and his power will grow. We'll choose who will fight him later."
"For now, we must locate the light user and capture him... He will be a valuable addition in the future."
Bahaa stood up and gestured with his hand.
"Get ready... you'll fight Wael when he appears."
---
Wael and Amira arrived at the island.
Wael looked around, then said:
"It doesn't seem like we've arrived yet... I don't feel that usual sensation."
Amira asked:
"What do you mean?"
He did not answer.
He took a few steps forward, then closed his eyes and focused.
The movement of everything around him seemed to slow, while a transparent aura flowed gently from his body.
He opened his eyes.
"We're safe for now... There is no threat."
Then he turned to her and continued:
"Whenever I enter this place, I get this strange feeling..."
"As though energy is flowing through my body, or as though I'm passing through an invisible barrier. I don't know... but it seems we still need to go farther."
He looked at the symbol on his hand.
It was still glowing, but with the same intensity as before, even though it should have grown brighter as they approached.
They continued walking through the dense vegetation.
Animals were scattered everywhere, while ancient ruins lay among the trees, strange symbols carved into their trunks.
Wael did not understand what they meant, but he was certain they were connected to the history of the world of elements and energy... and that Yassin had told him only a small part of the truth.
With every step, the symbol grew brighter.
Suddenly...
He felt that sensation again.
As though he had actually crossed an invisible barrier.
Ahead of them stood a cave with a bright light at its end.
They entered it, and the moment they passed through, a vast landscape unfolded before them.
A green hill stretched toward the horizon, with a waterfall pouring into a river that divided the area in two. A small cabin stood near its bank.
At that moment, the symbol disappeared from Wael's hand and transformed into golden energy that spread through the air before fading away.
He smiled.
"We've arrived."
Amira asked:
"What is this place called?"
Wael scratched his head in confusion.
"Hmm... Let's name it together."
She smiled.
"Mountain Hill?"
He chuckled.
"Nice name... Then that's what we'll call it."
Then she asked:
"How are we going to get down?"
Wael suddenly grabbed her hand and shouted:
"Like thisss!"
He jumped from the top of the hill with her.
Amira screamed while Wael laughed, enjoying the moment.
Just before they reached the ground, his aura burst out again, stopping their fall. They slowly descended until their feet touched the ground gently.
The aura disappeared, and Wael suddenly placed a hand on his body in pain.
"I completely forgot about my injuries..."
Then he immediately jumped into the river and said:
"I'll rest here until I recover my energy and the water heals my wounds."
Amira smiled.
"Then I'll go clean the cabin... and make you something to eat."
Several hours passed.
Wael saw the same girl from his dream again.
She approached him, saying something he could not make out.
Then she walked past him and disappeared behind him.
He quickly turned around...
but she was gone.
He searched everywhere for her, but to no avail.
Suddenly...
he opened his eyes.
A tear was flowing from his right eye once again.
He dipped his face into the river water, then stood up, put on his clothes, and headed toward the cabin.
He found the food waiting on the table.
Amira smiled.
"Good evening... You look hungry, don't you?"
He stared at the food in surprise, then began devouring it hungrily.
While eating, he asked her:
"What about you?"
She smiled.
"You slept for so long... Did you think I was going to wait for you to wake up?"
He smiled shyly and continued eating.
After he finished, he began gathering the dishes.
Amira asked:
"What are you doing?"
He answered:
"Helping you."
She shook her head.
"That's not what I meant. Of course you'll help me... but where are you going to take the dishes without washing them?"
He froze, disappointment appearing on his face.
"Wash them...?"
She smiled.
"Of course. Or did you think I was going to cook for you and then clean everything by myself?"
He sighed.
"Fine... fine."
She laughed, then asked:
"What now?"
He answered:
"I've gained a new power... but my ability to use it is still very limited. I need to find a way to master it and keep training."
Then he added:
"I don't know about dill... but sif was just an amateur fighter, and yet he became incredibly strong after being infused with the dark energy. If the one I'd fought had been mark or Bahaa... I would've been finished."
Silence fell.
Amira looked sad.
Wael said:
"Don't worry... I promise I'll bring him back."
Amira smiled, then asked:
"Are you going to start training now?"
He shook his head.
"No... I'll watch the sunset first."
She looked at him in confusion.
"The sunset? I don't mean anything by it... but is this really the right time to watch the sunset?"
He looked at her with a seriousness she had never seen in him before.
"My peace of mind matters more to me than anything else."
Then he walked away alone.
The sunset painted the sky in gentle colors.
Wael sat silently, gazing at it.
Amira followed him, but she did not want to disturb his silence.
After a while, he said:
"Don't you feel at peace when you look at something like this?"
She smiled while looking at the horizon.
"I don't think there's anyone who doesn't like watching the sun set."
He smiled.
"But only a few people feel the kind of peace I'm talking about."
She continued looking at him for a moment, then said quietly:
"I wonder... what do you see, Wael?"
The scene ended as the sun disappeared beyond the horizon.
