Shattered Fate
16.Battle on ice 1
Wail stood before a group of golden warriors.
After defeating the last of them, he sat down on the ground, breathing heavily as beads of sweat rolled down his face.
Amira asked:
"So... you said these warriors were created by Yassin, and that you used to train with them regularly?"
He answered between breaths:
"Yeah. He was the one who summoned them, but now I can summon them myself, though only for training. I think Yassin linked the secret of this place to me before Bahaa captured him, because he knew I would need it."
Amira asked:
"How strong have you become now?"
Wail replied:
"I'm still hesitant to use Lightning Speed... but I discovered that I can use it even without the Golden Transformation. It seems to be a pure skill connected to the lightning element itself."
"But it hurts your body."
Wail sighed.
"A lot... That's why I'm trying to find a way to use it without destroying my body."
Amira smiled.
"Then, good luck."
He smiled back.
"Yeah."
Then he stood up and resumed his training.
---
Several days passed, and Wail continued training without stopping.
He trained his energy flow, strengthened his body, improved his control over the lightning element, and repeatedly practiced using Power Pulse and the Golden Transformation.
He was improving at a noticeable rate.
But there was still one thing he could not master...
Lightning Speed.
He could use it, but only for a very limited amount of time, as if his body was still incapable of handling it.
One morning, Amira woke him after preparing breakfast.
He went outside to wash his face, but noticed something strange.
The air was cold...
Unusually cold for spring.
While eating, he said:
"I'm going to leave the mountain hill for a while and check the outside. Maybe I'll run into Elias and find out how far the plan has progressed."
"I'll come with you."
He shook his head.
"No... I might run into another enemy. It could be dangerous."

She did not argue.
Wail gathered a few things, covered his body with his blue aura, and took off, flying away from the island.
Amira watched until he disappeared from sight, then whispered:
"Come back safely..."
***
As soon as he left the island behind, his expression began to change.
The entire coast was covered in snow.
White crystals continued to fall from the sky without stopping.
The cold...
It felt more like the middle of winter.
Wail frowned.
"This isn't natural..."
He continued on his way until he sensed a familiar energy in the distance.
Elias's energy.
He immediately changed direction and flew toward it.
But while he was flying...
His expression suddenly froze.
He sensed an immense threat coming from below.
He stopped in midair, then quickly descended.
He reached a vast sea that had been completely frozen over.
He tossed his belongings onto a nearby frozen boat, then slowly turned around.
Inside the snowstorm...
Someone was approaching him.
A figure emerged from the thick white haze.
Raouf.
His expression was cold, and his eyes were shrouded in darkness.
He spoke in a voice devoid of emotion:
"Finally... you've appeared."
He stopped several meters away before continuing:
"I was getting bored after all these days, so I spent my time freezing everything... I think I accidentally froze a few cities."
Anger burned in Wail's eyes.
"What did the innocent people ever do to you?!"
Raouf answered without the slightest concern:
"Their fault is yours... You never showed up and made me wait."
A faint smile appeared on his face.
"Be grateful... that I waited for you in the first place."
Wail's aura exploded.
He charged toward him at incredible speed.
His fist passed within inches of Raouf's face, but Raouf did not move.
Wail turned and threw another punch.
Then a third.
Then a kick.
But every attack missed by the slightest margin.
Raouf dodged each one with the smallest movement possible, as if Wail were the one failing to hit his target.
Raouf raised his hand.
Wail sensed danger and immediately jumped backward.
The next moment, ice spikes erupted from the spot where he had been standing.
Raouf spoke calmly:
"Why did you move back?... I wasn't going to do anything."
Wail clenched his fist.
"He's dangerous..."
Without hesitation, he activated the Golden Transformation.
Wail vanished from his position and appeared directly in front of Raouf.
A storm of punches and kicks rained down on him, every strike carrying both lightning and raw energy.
Raouf took the attacks without defending himself.
The exchange ended with a powerful lightning strike that sent him flying.
Wail landed and watched him.
Raouf began to rise...
His wounds were healing right before Wail's eyes.
Wail did not give him a chance.
He unleashed a continuous barrage of lightning.
The explosion swallowed the area.
Then...
A black ice arrow emerged from the smoke.
It pierced Wail's shoulder.
He staggered back in pain.
If he had not moved at the last moment, the arrow would have pierced his heart.
He sensed a second arrow approaching and gathered lightning in his hand to intercept it...
But a sudden sense of danger overwhelmed him.
He jumped away.
The arrow tore through the ground where he had been standing, leaving behind a deep groove.
Raouf said:
"Good decision."
"If you had tried to stop it..."
"You would be dead."
He paused before adding:
"And I don't want you dead."
He suddenly vanished into the storm.
The snow began swirling with even greater force.
Wail narrowed his eyes.
"He disappeared...!"
Suddenly, ice spikes shot out from his side.
He barely avoided them.
One grazed his arm.
Another passed inches from his leg.
Raouf emerged from the heart of the storm and waved his hand.
Dozens of ice spears shot toward Wail from every direction.
Wail unleashed lightning, destroying most of them, then charged toward Raouf.
His fist slammed into Raouf's stomach.
Raouf staggered back several meters, blood running from his mouth.
But the black aura inside him began to glow.
The storm grew more violent.
The temperature dropped even further.
Ice spread beneath Wail's feet, freezing his legs up to his knees.
He shattered the ice with lightning and charged again.
A punch.
A kick.
An elbow strike.
He clearly had the advantage in physical strength.
But Raouf was not trying to match him.
He was letting the storm fight for him.
Visibility continued to worsen.
Wail could no longer see anything except white shadows moving through the haze.
Suddenly, an ice spike emerged from behind him.
He turned with difficulty and dodged it, but another erupted from the ground and froze his foot.
He shattered it, only for another to freeze his leg.
Then his arm.
Then his shoulder.
The ice kept chasing him.
He roared, and electricity exploded from his body, shattering everything that restrained him.
Raouf appeared directly in front of him.
He placed his palm against Wail's chest.
The next moment...
A massive wave of ice exploded outward.
Half of Wail's body froze instantly.
He unleashed lightning with all his strength, cracking and shattering the ice.
He staggered backward, breathing heavily.
Raouf...
remained standing in the middle of the storm, as though he had barely exerted himself.
He raised his hand again.
The ground trembled.
Dozens of ice spikes erupted in every direction.
Wail destroyed most of them, but several struck his shoulder, leg, and arm, adding new wounds to his battered body.
He charged with all his strength, breaking through the storm until he reached Raouf.
He twisted his body...
Then drove a massive punch toward him.
A shockwave scattered the snow and sent Raouf flying.
Raouf slid across the ground for a long distance before finally stopping.
He healed his wounds again, then gave a faint smile.
Wail, meanwhile...
was breathing heavily.
His injuries had increased.
His energy consumption grew with every moment he was forced to destroy the ice.
While Raouf...
still seemed to have most of his strength left.
