Shattered Fate
34- Vengeance's Path
That night...
Wail sat on the floor of his room, leaning against the wall.
His head was lowered, while sorrow, shock, and anger filled his face.
Voices echoed inside his head.
“You’re so weak...”
“Why weren’t you there in time?”
“Why did you let them escape?”
“What are you waiting for? When are you going to get your revenge?”
Small sparks of electricity began appearing around his body.
Wail raised his hands and grabbed his head.
“What am I supposed to do...?”
The sparks around him grew stronger, and his eyes began glowing red.
He grabbed his shirt over his chest, where his heart was, and whispered:
“Shut up...”
A faint golden aura glowed around his hand, quickly surrounding the red energy and suppressing it.
“No...”
He closed his eyes.
“Yassin always told me not to lose control... and never to let my anger control me.”
But red sparks appeared around his body again.
“But... am I really supposed to let them get away with what they did without punishment?”
The golden energy disappeared.
The red sparks returned.
It happened again...
Then again.
One part of Wail pushed him toward hatred, resentment, and revenge, while another part tried to calm him down and stop him from losing control.
The voice returned to his head.
“How long are you going to keep hiding? Do you want to stay here and complain about how weak you are and how you can’t...”
“SHUT UPPP!”
Wail’s voice exploded through the room.
He grabbed his head tightly.
Then Yassin’s memories began flooding into his mind.
Their training...
Their laughter...
If you spot this tale on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
Every time Yassin had stood by his side...
Everything he had done for him throughout all those years.
Wail slowly raised his head and stood up.
He walked toward the window.
Heavy rain poured outside, while thunder echoed through the darkness of the night.
He stared at it for a few moments.
Then he left.
He stood beneath the rain and raised his head toward the sky.
Suddenly...
“Waaail!”
He turned around.
Sara was standing there, holding an umbrella.
She smiled.
“Do you like walking in the rain too?”
Wail looked at her, but no smile appeared on his face.
Sara immediately noticed his expression.
Her face changed, and she quickly approached him.
“Wail? What happened?”
Wail lowered his head, not knowing what to say.
She stepped closer.
“Wail... something happened, didn’t it? Please, tell me.”
He answered coldly:
“Nothing happened, Sara.”
She stared at him.
“You’re not telling the truth. It’s obvious.”
Wail raised his eyes toward her.
“And what do you know...?”
She answered:
“I know you, Wail.”
She fell silent for a moment.
“And I know you’re hiding something. You look really sad.”
Wail suddenly shouted:
“I said nothing happened!”
A wave of red electricity exploded from his body, forcing Sara to step back in fear.
But Wail’s eyes widened.
He saw a transparent aura surrounding her.
He stared at it in shock.
“Sara... what is that?”
She looked at him in shock.
“Wail...”
She hesitated for a moment.
“You’re... an Element User?”
The two stared at each other.
Neither of them could believe what had just happened.
Then Sara reached out and took his hand.
The pressure of the aura surrounding Wail gradually weakened.
His energy calmed down.
The red sparks disappeared.
Sara said quietly:
“Let’s sit somewhere and talk.”
---
The two sat beneath Sara’s umbrella on two benches while the rain poured around them.
Wail told her everything.
About Yassin...
About Noel and Sam...
About Dark...
And about the battle that had ended with the death of his teacher.
When he finished, Sara remained silent.
Then she said:
“I also... have a power I don’t understand.”
Wail looked at her.
She continued:
“I inherited it from my father.”
She lowered her head.
“But I lied to you about my father.”
“He died several years ago.”
Wail looked at her.
“It’s okay... I understand why you hid it, Sara.”
He tried to understand the nature of her power, but all he could determine was that it was a defensive ability that appeared automatically to protect her.
Then he finally realized that she understood the reason behind his sadness, yet she still did not know how to comfort him.
Wail said:
“Don’t trouble yourself trying to figure it out... I’ll find a way to deal with it.”
He did not finish his sentence.
Suddenly...
Sara hugged him.
Wail froze in place.
She spoke softly:
“It’s okay...”
Then she tightened her arms around him slightly.
“I understand why you’re sad. You have every right to grieve.”
She fell silent for a moment.
“But I don’t want to see you like this.”
“Sara...”
She pulled away slightly and looked at him.
“Since the day we met, I’ve seen you as a kind person... someone who always tries to smile no matter what happens.”
She gave him a small smile.
“That’s what everyone sees in you.”
Then her expression changed.
“But I saw another person too... someone who hides so much sadness inside his heart.”
Wail looked at her in silence.
“I wanted, as time passed, to hear you talk about those things... and to comfort you.”
She lowered her eyes.
“Because I couldn’t bear to let those sorrows destroy your happiness.”
She wanted to continue.
But Wail interrupted her.
“Sara... your words mean a lot to me.”
Then he stood up and asked:
“Do you like sunsets?”
“Sunsets?”
“Just answer.”
She smiled.
“Yes...”
Wail looked at her.
“I’ll take you somewhere beautiful, and we’ll watch it together.”
Then he continued:
“And we’ll talk without stopping. I’ll tell you everything that’s on my mind, and you’ll tell me everything you want to say.”
A faint smile appeared on his face.
It was the first real smile he had shown since that night.
“But I’ll deal with this matter first, okay?”
Sara smiled as tears silently rolled down her cheeks.
“Wail...”
She quickly wiped them away.
“Yes. I’ll wait for you...”
Wail said:
“Go home. It’s late.”
He stepped closer.
She said to him:
“Come back safely.”
He looked at her.
“I promise.”
Wail’s thoughts seemed to calm all at once.
His emotions cooled.
Then he vanished in a flash of electricity.
---
Elsewhere...
Bahaa and Elyes were on the mountain hill.
Bahaa sat before Yassin’s grave, staring at it in silence.
Behind the mountain...
the sounds of explosions and collapsing rocks echoed through the air.
Elyes was releasing his anger through training.
Wail appeared in front of Yassin’s grave.
Bahaa stood up.
“Wail... I was just...”
But Wail did not seem to hear him.
He walked toward the grave.
Bahaa stepped aside.
Elyes approached him and was about to speak, but Bahaa stopped him.
“Leave him... Not now.”
Wail remained standing before Yassin’s grave.
Then the raindrops falling onto his body began evaporating before they could touch him.
An extremely dense invisible aura rose around him.
His eyes carried a clear desire for revenge.
He turned and headed toward the cabin.
Bahaa asked:
“Wail... what are you going to do?”
Wail stopped for a moment.
Then he answered without turning around:
“We’ll eliminate them before they even think about coming back.”
Elyes asked:
“And how are we going to do that? We need a plan.”
Wail did not answer and continued walking.
Inside his mind...
images of Yassin’s final moments passed through his thoughts.
His voice...
His smile...
The way he had stood until the very end.
Then Wail said:
“I’ll kill them... I’ll take my revenge, but... my way.”
