Shattered Fate
38- The Red Beast
Explosions and flames consumed the mountain hill.
Rocks flew in every direction under the force of the battle, while Amin was clearly overpowering Sam. Even so, Sam refused to retreat. He took the blows, got back up, and returned to the fight once again.
But there was something strange about his smile...
As if he were waiting for the right moment.
---
Elsewhere...
Sara was sitting in front of Wail, who was still lying on the ground, his body covered in wounds.
When he saw her face in front of him, his eyes widened.
“Sara... What are you doing here?”
She did not answer immediately.
She placed her hands against his chest, and a transparent aura began spreading through his body, gradually easing his pain.
“I’ll try to heal you.”
Wail looked at her in disbelief.
“Why did you come? Didn’t I tell you to go home?”
She gave him a faint smile.
“Do you really expect me to sit at home peacefully while you’re putting yourself in danger here?”
“But, Sara... It’s dangerous.”
“Wail... Don’t worry. I’ll try to ease your pain so you can continue fighting.”
Wail bit his lip and lowered his head sadly.
“It’s pointless...”
Sara stopped for a moment.
“What?”
Wail slowly raised his head.
The shock of everything that had happened still weighed heavily on his heart. Even his confidence in himself was beginning to disappear.
“There’s no point in me, Sara... I’m nothing but a pathetic weakling.”
She looked at him seriously.
“Wail... What are you saying?”
“You’re exhausting yourself for nothing. Even if you heal me, I still won’t be able to win.”
Sara’s expression changed, and anger appeared in her eyes.
“So you intend to give up?”
Wail remained silent.
“Wail, I believe in you and your ability to end this. I know you can do it, so please... Don’t let what happened break you.”
“But I...”
A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
She interrupted him firmly.
“Stop.”
Wail looked at her.
“Stopping here means the end of everything. You said you were ready to do anything to take control of the situation, didn’t you?”
She tightened her grip around his hand.
“If you think losing means the end, then surrendering means ending everything while being humiliated.”
Then she continued:
“Do you really think Yassin would accept your surrender so easily?”
Everything inside Wail’s mind came to a halt.
An image of Yassin appeared before him.
He was raising his fist toward the sky, a smile still on his face despite knowing that it was the end for him.
Wail returned to reality and looked at Sara.
Tears were streaming down her cheeks.
“Wail... Please don’t stop. I don’t want to lose you here.”
Wail raised his hand and wiped away her tears.
Her eyes widened.
Then a smile slowly spread across her face when she saw a faint smile appear on his.
“Sara... Thank you for everything.”
“It’s my duty.”
Wail hesitated for a moment, then looked at her.
“When this is over... I want to tell you something...”
But she interrupted him before he could finish.
“I love you...”
Wail was surprised to hear that.
Then he gave her a faint smile.
“You want to speed things up, huh...?”
The two looked at each other, smiles covering their faces.
Then Sara stepped away slightly.
“Come on now, hero... Go and finish this.”
Wail looked at her.
Her eyes were filled with tears, but her face carried a hope that had brought life back to his heart.
She was the flame that reignited Wail’s desire to fight.
Suddenly...
Blood scattered through the air.
Wail’s face froze in horrifying shock.
His shoulder had been pierced, while Sara lay in his arms, blood flowing from her mouth.
“Sa...ra?”
She raised her eyes toward him with difficulty.
“Wail... The... sunset...”
Then her arm fell limp, and the light in her eyes faded away.
---
On the other side, Amin had just delivered a flaming kick to Sam, sending him flying through the air.
As he was thrown backward, Sam noticed Sara healing Wail.
His eyes narrowed slightly.
“What... She can use an element too?”
Then he dismissed the thought.
“No... It doesn’t matter.”
He compressed the air inside his hand, then released an invisible blade that tore through the air at tremendous speed.
The blade pierced Sara’s chest, then continued onward until it struck Wail’s shoulder.
Sam fell to the ground, while Amin followed him, his expression filled with rage.
“What did you do, you bastard?”
Sam smiled mockingly.
“Just got rid of some worthless trash.”
Amin’s anger erupted, and flames began gathering around his body.
But a flash of electricity appeared behind him.
Wail was standing there.
“Amin... Move aside.”
Amin turned toward him.
“This is my fight. Don’t even think about interfering...”
But he stopped.
He had seen Wail’s face.
Wail was walking toward him without saying a word.
Amin understood everything from his expression, so he stepped aside.
“Have it your way...”
The flames around Amin died down as Wail walked past him.
Then a red aura mixed with black electrical sparks erupted around Wail’s body.
This was not Force Pulse.
It was something else entirely.
It was the Red Power...
The aura that appeared whenever Wail completely lost control of his emotions.
The energy covered his body, leaving only his eyes visible, glowing with red and black light.
There was no trace of anger or sadness on his face.
He was completely devoid of emotion.
Only one desire remained...
Killing and revenge.
Sam mocked him.
“The loser has returned to avenge his girlfriend’s death...”
He never finished his sentence.
Wail appeared in front of him in an instant and struck him with a massive bolt of electricity, sending him into the sky.
Sam smiled despite the attack.
“I see your anger has increased your strength a little.”
Wail appeared above him.
Sam turned quickly and began compressing the air around his arm, preparing to release an invisible blade.
But...
Nothing happened.
His eyes widened.
His arm was no longer there.
Wail had severed it before Sam could even move.
Before Sam could understand what had happened, Wail struck him with a tremendous electrical punch, sending him crashing toward the ground.
Blood poured from Sam’s mouth, and Wail gave him no chance to regain his balance.
Noel was about to approach.
But the moment he moved, black electricity struck the ground in front of him, forcing him to stop.
His dark-blue aura surged with rage.
Amin appeared in front of him.
“Let’s not interfere in their fight.”
Noel was furious, but his eyes soon widened when he saw what was happening.
Sam was being sent flying through the sky, then crashing into the ground, only to be launched upward again.
He could do nothing.
Wail kept striking him without pause.
Punch after punch.
Explosions of energy.
Bolts of electricity.
Every blow carried monstrous power.
Then Wail descended upon Sam with all his strength, crushing the ground beneath them.
Noel raised his arm.
His dark-blue aura spread around Wail, and gravity began manipulating his body, attempting to stop him from continuing the assault.
But it was useless.
Wail continued punching Sam.
Blood flew in every direction as black electrical sparks continued twisting around his body.
Sam’s vision began to blur.
And in his eyes, he no longer saw the Wail he knew.
He saw a red beast...
A beast that no longer knew mercy.
Wail continued beating him brutally until Sam could no longer resist.
Then he grabbed Sam’s head...
And tore it away with force.
Silence descended.
Elyes froze in place.
Bahaa’s eyes widened.
Even Amin looked shocked by what he had witnessed.
As for Noel, he was completely stunned.
Amin gave a faint smile and grabbed his head.
“Excellent... This is what I was...”
He stopped.
The smile vanished from his face.
“What’s happening to you, Wail?”
Bahaa bit his lip, while Elyes could only stare at Wail in shock.
The red aura gradually began to fade, and the black electrical sparks disappeared.
Then the red-and-black glow in Wail’s eyes slowly dimmed.
His face emerged from behind the energy.
He was no longer angry.
He no longer wanted to scream.
His face was lifeless and sorrowful, as if he wanted nothing more than for everything to end.
Then a single tear fell from his right eye.
Wail threw Sam’s head away.
Then he began walking toward Noel.
Noel advanced toward him as well, his dark-blue aura growing denser around his body.
His expression hardened with anger.
“You won’t stay alive today...”
