Chapter 2494: Ancient sects
"You want to learn about ancient sects?"
The cultivators that were in charge of this library were confused when they heard the question that I asked.
In response, I just simply nodded to show that this was indeed what I wanted.
Only they were even more confused since they had no idea what I wanted from this.
It wasn’t just this alone that they were confused, it was because information about me had already spread through all of the sects. Mainly, they wanted to restrict my access to things that they considered important information.
It wasn’t as if they could stop me completely since we were in an alliance, but they wanted to prevent me from getting my hands on anything that would be considered key to them.
Naturally the cultivators of this library had also received this notice.
Even though they looked at me like this, I just calmly looked back at them and waited for their response.
In the end, it wasn’t as if they could reject my request since it wasn’t something that went against the orders that they had been given. It was just that they couldn’t help feeling that there was something off about this since it was something that went against the norm.
Which was why they passed this information up to the elders while getting me the material that I requested.
I didn’t mind that the elders arrived to watch over me, but it wasn’t as if I was going to let them observe me for free. If they wanted to observe, they would have to pay the price for this as well.
"Is there anything I can help you with?"
The elder wasn’t surprised that I called out to him and walked over as if it was a normal thing.
After looking at the books that were in front of me, he asked, "Are you interested in history?"
With a carefree smile, I said, "Well, it’s only natural that one would be interested in their allies, right? I wanted to learn a bit more about the cultivation alliance, so I was interested in how this all came to be."
The elder didn’t respond right away as he looked at me without any expression on his face.
I knew that he was trying to figure out what I was plotting, but I wasn’t afraid that he would figure it out.
After a moment of silence, he finally said, "Is there anything that I can help you with? I have some knowledge in this field and I might be able to answer a few of your questions."
"Just give me a minute to look over these books first and see if there’s anything that I don’t understand. This is my first time learning about this, so it’s not as if I know what questions to even ask."
The elder gave a simple nod since this was expected.
Only a surprised look appeared not long after when he heard my questions.
I took a casual look through the books and then started asking about the ancient sects that were listed there.
There were a few that I was familiar with since I had seen them in the lore of the game world that this world was based on, but it wasn’t as if I knew everything. There were still some sects that I didn’t know about, which was why I started asking about them.
The reason that the elder was surprised was because the questions that I asked were sincere questions about these sects.
When faced with these questions, it seemed like even the elder had to take some time before he was able to think of the answers.
After all, the sects that I had asked about were rather obscure sects that the books didn’t have much information on. These were the sects that I didn’t remember from the game world, so I was asking about them in this real world.
After a while, it was clear that the elder didn’t actually have much information that was useful. Even though the elder said that he knew a few things about this subject, it wasn’t as if he knew that much that he would be able to give me all the information that I wanted.
The only thing that he could do in the end was look at the books that were placed there with an awkward look on his face. He had to check his own work since he wasn’t certain about the answers that he gave.
But through this, I did learn quite a bit about the sects that I was asking about.
It wasn’t as if these sects weren’t powerful, they had enough influence that they had been recorded and passed down until now. However, they were much older than the sects that I did know about.
It seemed like the history of the game world had only started after a certain point.
Everything before that was considered ancient history.
"This Divine Forge Sect sounds familiar...Or at least the way that they used to forge sounds like something that I’ve read before."
After thinking about it, I remembered why it was familiar.
"This is just like the technique from the upper realm."
It was similar to one of the techniques that I had found in the cave residence.
But if that was the case, did that mean that this Divine Forge Sect was related to that upper realm?
From what I remembered, it wasn’t as if any of these upper realms were related to this cultivation world. They had all forcefully created that connection that allowed them to come down to this cultivation world.
But now it seemed like there was some kind of ancient connection between one of the upper realms and this cultivation world.
What was the answer in this case?
Not to mention, there really was no telling just how many of these ancient sects would be related to a different upper realm in this case. Or they might just not be related at all and simply vanished over time.
