Chapter 757: Chapter 757: How We Can Defeat Him

I glanced around at the others quietly, before slumping back in my seat. A couple of hours had passed since Leto escaped, we were currently in the Union building of Sanctuary Delta.

We reported everything that happened during the battle, with the slim hope that they’ll be able to figure out some weakness we can exploit. I’m not holding my breath, though, I don’t feel particularly optimistic right now.

Leto’s attack on Sanctuary Delta was ultimately a fairly short one, barely spanning a full half hour between his arrival and retreat. And that was still enough time to do some serious damage and destruction.

Most of the civilians managed to evacuate to safety, with a number of Teleporters getting them out of harm’s way almost immediately after Leto launched his attack. But they also overlooked a fair number of the civilians, over two hundred corpses have been found, and counting.

A large number of the Sanctuary’s Hunters also died in this battle. They did manage to turn the tables against the undead Mutants eventually, but that was after several casualties, and also aided by the fact that Leto directed all his Calamity Level Threats to us after we took down the Catastrophe Levels.

Anyway, we were currently in a waiting room in the Union building. Besides the three of us who’d fought Leto, Ciel, Baraq and mom were also here. They’d rushed over to Leto’s location after the Calamity Levels they were fighting were all summoned to that spot, but of course, he was long gone by the time they arrived.

Ciel was pretty distraught when she found out about Jaden too. Speaking of whom, we’d turned his body over to the Union. I...I still haven’t fully processed the fact that he’s really gone.

All of us X-Aces, after our battle against the Demon Lord, I felt like I couldn’t even imagine any of us being killed. And to be proven wrong, it...it really hurts.

We then glanced at the door as it opened, a member of the Union staff entering with a solemn look on her face, looking around us she quietly shut the door behind her.

"Sorry to keep you all waiting. To begin with, I’d like to thank all of you for your efforts in protecting our Sanctuary. We suffered a lot of damage and loss, but it would have been much worse if it wasn’t for all of you, so thank you."

"It’s fine, don’t mention it," I replied with a slight grimace, unable to shake this feeling of frustration.

"Regarding Jaden Xeno...his body has been put on ice, the HUC has decided to hold off on a funeral, for him and everyone else who lost their lives today, until after this matter has been dealt with."

I guess that makes sense...if Leto makes his next move during a mass funeral, it could be disastrous. But...

"Seriously? Who knows how long it’ll be before Leto attacks again? I get the logic, but you can’t just-...," Began Ciel.

"Regarding that, we won’t be blindsided again. During his attack, we were able to lock onto his energy signature, and we’ve been tracking him ever since he retreated. We know exactly where he is, and we have a whole team monitoring him, to make sure we don’t lose track of him again. Once we have a plan in place, we can take the attack to him, instead of waiting for him to attack us."

"That’s great and all, but it doesn’t change the fact that we can’t kill him. No matter what we try, he’ll just regenerate like nothing happened," I pointed out grimly.

"On another note...something unexpected happened during the battle. While we were locking onto Leto’s energy signature after he entered the Sanctuary, we detected an unknown X-Ace level presence fighting him. The presence retreated shortly before Jaden showed up, and then disappeared, likely using a Suppression Ring to conceal themselves. Do any of you have an idea of who that might have been?"

An unknown presence at X-Ace level? Who-...ohh, right, it must have been Alkimia, I almost forgot about her. Looks like the others have come to the same realization. We can’t really say anything about that without risking revealing the trial, though.

"No, maybe it’s someone who’s been hiding their true power like Kai and Cleo did?" Responded Aria with a shrug.

"Yes, that’s the only explanation. We could use all the help we can get, so we’ll try to locate this person and enlist their help," The Union staff member nodded, before adding, "I know you all already submitted your reports, but I’d like to ask, did you notice anything that could help us discover a potential weakness?"

"No, not really. Temporarily throwing him off, catching him off-guard, or even straight-up destroying his entire body without a trace, all of that’s still doable, the problem is that it’s pointless. He’s as good as new in practically an instant," I stated bleakly.

"We are working on creating a device that generates energy waves with an inverse signature to his energy signature, which should, in theory, nullify his Magic, and possibly help us create a prison that can hold him.

But, well...upon analysis of his energy signature, it’s far too complex. According to our analysts and researchers, it would take at least a year to pull it off, and we don’t have that kind of time on our hands."

Hm...wait, the time dilation of my Pocket Dimension, maybe with that, they can speed up the process and-...

"Imprison him, huh? I know it’s pointless saying this now, but...if only we’d opted to capture instead of kill him when we had the chance. If we’d locked him up, sure, he’d still be alive, but also trapped and helpless.

Well, I suppose his Hidden Skill would’ve unlocked when he eventually died of old age, so I guess that would’ve been pointless too," Aria sighed wistfully.

Alive but trapped, huh? Yeah, that could be it, the way we beat him. But for it to work, it’d need to be somewhere that’s absolutely inescapable, somewhere where he’d effectively be sealed away forever-...

As I shot up onto my feet with a start, my eyes widening, the others turned their attention to me, looking a bit startled.

"That’s it! Yeah, that could work, how did I not think of this until now...?" I muttered, before adding as I glanced around at the others, "Alright, guys, I think I’ve got it. I know how we can defeat him."
