Chapter 122: The Farsighted Crown Prince Su
Chapter 122: Chapter 122: The Farsighted Crown Prince Su
With a reach of his hand, a small white mouse was lifted by his Divine Thought and landed in Su Han’s palm.
"SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK~"
Held in Su Han’s grasp, the little white mouse squirmed restlessly, struggling with all its might.
Unfortunately, in Su Han’s hand, this little mouse, with its strength of over ten thousand catties, was like an infant in the hands of a burly man, with no hope of escape.
After inspecting the little mouse’s fur, limbs, and even its tail, Su Han let it go.
"SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK~"
Once on the ground, the little mouse stamped its feet, hopping and bouncing as it chittered at Su Han for a while, its intentions unclear.
Seeing this, Su Han stretched his hand forward.
"WHOOSH~"
The little mouse saw Su Han reach out and, as if sensing the sign of danger, shot off into the distance with a whoosh.
It leaped onto a rock, squeaking and gesturing at Su Han with its paws, before decisively jumping behind the rock and curling up into a timid ball.
While cowering, the little mouse occasionally peeked out to glance at the large rock in front of it, which was more than ten times its height.
’A rock this big... should be able to hide me, right?’
"Heh! It’s quite clever."
Watching the little mouse’s series of actions, Su Han shook his head with a laugh and turned to look at Wu.
"These little white mice, they’re all free of side effects?"
Wu nodded. "The initial potion was developed two years ago, but it had numerous side effects. It relied entirely on overdrawing a subject’s potential to enhance them.
"After two years of experimental refinement, I have managed to reduce these side effects by more than 99.99%."
Su Han nodded. "Take me to see the potion."
"I will lead the way for you, Crown Prince."
Wu led the way, with Su Han following behind.
After passing three rows of buildings, the group stopped in front of a structure protected by a perceptive Array.
Wu formed several Hand Techniques, and the Array opened a safe passage. He turned back to look at Su Han.
"Crown Prince, please follow me inside."
Su Han nodded. Wu entered the Array first, with the others following him.
Passing through the Array, Wu pushed open a large, tightly shut door on one of the buildings.
Stepping through the wooden door, he was met with the sight of row after row of wooden shelves.
On the shelves were racks of transparent glass vials.
"Crown Prince, all of the Enhancing Potions we currently have are here.
"Because time was too short, I have only succeeded in developing the Enhancing Potion for the Foundation Establishment Stage.
"However, with the successful experience from the Foundation Establishment potion, I am confident I can develop an Enhancing Potion for the Spirit Platform Stage within three years.
"A Divine Sea potion would probably take another ten years. As for a potion for the even higher Immortal Platform Realm... I am not very confident of success within thirty years."
Su Han shook his head. "Wu, for you to have developed the Foundation Establishment Enhancing Potion so quickly is already beyond my expectations.
"As for the more advanced ones, there’s no rush for now. Just take your time with the research, Wu."
Years ago, during an outing outside the Imperial City, he had accidentally found Wu, injured and collapsed by his side.
After saving him, he discovered that Wu seemed to have a great Mastery of the path of Alchemy, with an encyclopedic knowledge of the properties of all kinds of medicinal ingredients.
It was on a whim that he proposed the idea of researching a side-effect-free Enhancing Potion to Wu. He never expected Wu would actually be willing to dedicate ten years of effort to a single idea of his.
And now... he was seeing the fruits of that labor.
"You flatter me, Crown Prince.
"I was only able to succeed for two reasons. First, our predecessors long ago passed down Elixirs like the Divine Sea Pill. Although that kind of Elixir requires one to overdraw their potential and allows for a direct increase in cultivation level after consumption, it makes any further breakthroughs impossible for the rest of one’s life.
"But its effect is ultimately similar to the Enhancing Potion we sought to create.
"Second, the ’gene theory’ you proposed, Crown Prince, allowed me to understand the properties of medicinal ingredients more intuitively.
"Using white mice as substitutes for human test subjects also saved a great number of lives and drastically shortened the research time and cost.
"If not for all this, even if you gave me a hundred or a thousand years, I would never have been able to achieve such success."
Wu spoke with such sincerity that it made even Su Han feel a little embarrassed.
’Those theories... they were just idealistic nonsense, cobbled together from snippets of knowledge from my past life.’
’I can’t believe Wu actually achieved such success based on things I just said off the top of my head.’
’I suppose... our current success is because we are both standing on the shoulders of giants.’
"Wu, have human trials been conducted with this potion?"
Wu nodded. "In the last three months, I personally conducted human trials on one thousand death-row inmates selected from across the country.
"The results were very successful. All one thousand inmates were successfully enhanced, reaching the standard of Foundation Establishment Perfection.
"One of them exhausted his potential after the enhancement was successful. After I examined him, I found it was because his own potential had already been severely overdrawn beforehand."
Su Han looked at him, confused. "Severely overdrawn?"
Wu nodded and thought for a moment. "Meaning, insufficient kidney water..."
"Oh~"
Su Han nodded. ’So, kidney deficiency, huh?’
Ignoring the single case of failure, Su Han looked at the tens of thousands of vials of Enhancing Potion in the room, pondering how to best make use of them.
’My Beggar Gang... they will definitely need this.’
’Although I gave the old beggar that special Cultivation Technique, which gave the Beggar Gang disciples their own Cultivation Method...’
’...relying on their own cultivation will make it difficult to form a powerful force in a short amount of time.’
’Besides, as long as they practice my Cultivation Technique, there is no possibility of betrayal.’
’So, using the Enhancing Potion on a portion of the Beggar Gang disciples can boost the gang’s overall strength in a short period.’
’Second... I can also send a portion to my Uncle.’
’Jing Country was founded over 1,300 years ago, but its overall strength isn’t that great.’
’Forget about all of Jiuzhou, even just within Qing Province, Jing Country’s overall strength is merely average.’
’The reason it has faced few external threats over the years is mostly due to the lingering deterrence from our old ancestor’s formidable reputation. To this day, the surrounding countries can hardly believe that the old ancestor is actually gone.’
’But if Jing Country can’t display formidable power of its own, a day will come when the ancestor’s reputation is no longer enough to deter them.’
’Therefore, building a powerful army is absolutely necessary.’
’Just imagine: an army of 100,000, with every single soldier at Foundation Establishment Perfection.’
’Every Centurion at Spirit Platform Perfection, every Thousand Man Commander at Divine Sea Perfection, and every Ten Thousand Man Commander able to fly through the sky, escape through the earth, and fight against those at the Immortal Platform level.’
’You wouldn’t need many such armies. Mastering just one would be enough to make the surrounding countries not dare to invade.’
Thinking about it... Su Han felt a little better.
’Even though the research on this potion was a success, I can’t use it myself.’
’But this Enhancing Potion still has plenty of great uses, doesn’t it?’
’Mhm!’
’Of course! I, the Crown Prince, am just that farsighted, to have foreseen today’s situation ten years ago!’
’Devising strategies that decide battles a thousand miles away... that’s me, isn’t it?’
