Skill Trees Are Everywhere
Chapter 124: Cooldown Reduction
Su Han looked at Su Yi and asked, a little uncertain.
“You’re saying… you’ll teach me?”
Su Yi looked at him, blinked, and nodded.
“Alright!”
Su Han looked at her. “But… how are you going to teach me?”
‘She can’t speak. That’s the biggest problem.’
‘If she can’t talk, there’s a lot she won’t be able to explain clearly.’
‘Maybe… if she demonstrates it a few more times, I could try to see if I can create a Skill Tree myself?’
‘But… even though I was too stunned to use my Eye of Truth just now, my perception… didn’t pick up any trace of Dao Rhyme overflowing when she used that technique.’
‘So… I really can’t say for sure whether I can make a Skill Tree or not.’
Su Yi just smiled, raised her hand, and gently tapped her index finger between his eyebrows.
BOOM—
Su Han felt his Sea of Consciousness tremble. A powerful force shattered his mental barriers as if they were nothing and delved deep inside.
“Hm?”
A soft sound of surprise seemed to echo in his ear. Then, strands of a peculiar Dao Rhyme gathered in his Sea of Consciousness, forming a special rune.
The moment the rune took shape, his Divine Thought surged within his Sea of Consciousness, merging with it.
Su Han was astonished to discover that as his Divine Thought fused with the rune, it began to grow exponentially—twofold, fourfold, eightfold…
In no time, the rune and his Divine Thought had completely merged.
By then, the Divine Thought in Su Han’s Sea of Consciousness had swelled by dozens of times.
If before it had been like a vast ocean, now Su Han’s Divine Thought was like a star in the cosmic expanse.
Of course… compared to his seemingly boundless, universe-like Sea of Consciousness, it was still just a drop in the ocean.
The changes in his Sea of Consciousness ceased. Feeling the finger lift from between his eyebrows, Su Han opened his eyes.
The moment he did, two sharp glints of light seemed to flash in his eyes.
“Just now…”
The first thing he saw was Su Yi’s face, tinged with a faint smile. Looking at her, Su Han began to speak, his voice laced with uncertainty.
‘He could clearly feel the changes in his Sea of Consciousness.’
‘He had also seen the rune that had formed there with perfect clarity.’
‘It was just… she was supposed to be teaching him the technique that made plants wither and flourish with the changing seasons. But aside from the massive increase in his Divine Thought, he didn’t feel any other changes.’
Su Yi gave him a puzzled look and pointed to the tree beside them.
“You’re… telling me to try?”
Su Yi nodded. Su Han mimicked her earlier gesture, pointing a finger toward the tree.
He waited for a moment. The tree… showed no change whatsoever.
Su Han turned his head, his confused eyes looking to Su Yi.
Su Yi put a hand to her forehead, a flicker of exasperation in her eyes. She then pointed to her own temple, making a thinking gesture.
Then, she pointed a finger, and the once-lush tree once again seemed to enter late autumn.
Its leaves fell, and its withered branches snapped.
Su Han watched, a thoughtful look in his eyes.
“Does that mean… as long as I imagine it changing like that, it’ll happen?”
Su Yi nodded, signaling for Su Han to try again.
Su Han focused his mind, imagining the bare tree sprouting new buds, and pointed at it.
In the next moment, the laws of heaven and earth manifested. The seasons on the tree cycled once more, passing from late autumn through the cold of winter, and finally sprouting new buds in early spring.
Su Yi smiled and followed suit, pointing a finger at the tree. The tender buds rapidly grew into new branches, and in an instant, the tree was restored to its original lush state.
Seeing this, Su Han added a point of his own, and the leaves once again yellowed and quickly fell.
Back and forth they went, taking turns, and the poor tree suffered for it, constantly cycling through the seasons.
Until…
Su Han pointed again, but this time, the leafless tree didn’t sprout new buds. Instead… it began to decay.
His hand paused mid-air. With a thoughtful look, Su Han turned his head and looked at Su Yi in astonishment.
“This… isn’t the power to make plants grow. It’s… time?”
Su Yi looked at him and nodded. Seeing the strange expression on his face, she tilted her head in thought, then plucked a blade of grass and held it before Su Han’s eyes.
As Su Han looked at her, a questioning look in her eyes, the blade of grass in her hand began to visibly change.
It bloomed, bore fruit, the flower fell, the grass withered, the ripe fruit sprouted a new shoot, and it grew into… a completely different plant than before.
All these changes happened in a single instant. Su Yi pointed to the new plant species in her hand and looked at Su Han, her eyes questioning.
‘It was as if she was asking… ‘Is this what you were talking about?”
Su Han: “…”
‘So, how is this any different from the tree going through the four seasons?’
Su Yi once again placed her index finger gently between his eyebrows, and another change occurred in his Sea of Consciousness.
The rune that had previously merged with Su Han’s Divine Thought reappeared.
This time, however, the rune flickered, faintly revealing four characters in small seal script.
With his experience as a Nine-Star Array Master, Su Han could barely make out the meaning of these four small seal script characters: “No Time, No Moment.”
‘No Time, No Moment?’
Su Han was taken aback, finding it hard to grasp the meaning of those four words for a moment.
As Su Han was pondering, a voice seemed to sound in the depths of his mind, illuminated by the rune:
[You have independently comprehended the Time Law and obtained the skill: No Time, No Moment.]
[The skill No Time, No Moment can be fused with the skill No Distance to generate a new skill. Fuse now?]
Su Han’s heart skipped a beat, and he chose to fuse them.
The two icons representing the skills lit up and rapidly merged, forming a brand-new icon.
Su Han’s consciousness lightly touched the new skill icon. It dispersed, transforming into skill comprehension that flowed into his Sea of Consciousness.
At the same time, the voice in his mind rang out again.
[Skill: Space-Time.]
[Fusion of space skill ‘No Distance’ and time skill ‘No Time, No Moment’ has created a new skill. Space and Time are one, and have merged.]
[Skill Effect: Control Space-Time.]
[Currently Mastered Space-Time Abilities: No Distance, No Time, No Moment.]
Before Su Han could even process the shock of receiving this new skill, another message sounded in his mind:
[Initial mastery of the Time Law has been achieved. All skill cooldowns are permanently reduced by fifty percent.]
“Hiss!”
He checked his skills and saw that the cooldown times for the few skills that had them were indeed cut in half. Su Han couldn’t help but suck in a sharp breath of cold air.
‘I was just marveling at the wonders of the Power of Creation, and Su Yi casually taught me a method to change the seasons in a small area.’
‘I never thought… that by some lucky coincidence, it would end up cutting all my skill cooldowns in half.’
‘This… This is a huge win!’
Opening his eyes and looking at Su Yi, Su Han felt that he wasn’t looking at a beautiful young woman anymore, but at his personal jackpot, glittering like solid gold.
Looking at the plant in Su Yi’s hand, he suddenly thought… ‘If the tree-playing skill could turn into a time skill and cut all my cooldowns by fifty percent…’
‘…then what about this grass-playing skill? Could there be another surprise waiting for me?’
Seeing Su Han staring fervently at the blade of grass in her hand, Su Yi shook her head in amusement and flicked him gently on the forehead.
She hesitated for a moment, then parted her ruby lips and spoke two words.
“One year.”
