Chapter 132: Chapter 132: This Great-Grandmother... Is Kinda Cute

At this point in the scene, you could say the entire tone had shifted dramatically.

Watching the mysterious figure in the wooden cabin—cloaked from head to toe with only one hand showing—through the replayed scene, Su Han was utterly dumbfounded.

’What... is going on?’

The target had been identified. He was all set to follow the lead and deliver a Celestial Punishment as a Children’s Day gift.

’Why did the whole script suddenly flip at the very end?’

’What happened to the blood feud?’

’What happened to them trying to snuff me out because they feared my talent?’

’What happened to them hiring assassins because my ridiculously good looks were an affront to heaven?’

He could let all of that go, but now, in the end, this was starting to sound like... a crime of passion?

’Pah! Pah! Pah!’

’No, that’s not right either! A crime of passion my ass. He didn’t even know this person.’

’And... her hand was so withered and ancient it looked devoid of flesh, and her voice was as decayed as if it had crawled out of a grave.’

’She had to be at least thousands, if not tens of thousands, of years old, right?’

’What kind of damn romance could she have with me?’

’If it’s not about me... then could it be...?’

Subconsciously, Su Han thought of his own ancestor, the one who always claimed to be "long dead" but kept popping up to cause a little trouble.

’This... Don’t tell me I’ve been set up again?’

In the vision, the story continued.

The cloaked figure muttered to herself, but her hands never stopped moving. In the blink of an eye, she had finished writing a kill order.

After the cloaked figure drew the final symbol on the white jade wall, the text on the stone flashed... and vanished.

The cloaked figure stood before the stone wall, pondered for a moment, and muttered, "’Is this... a little too weak?’"

With another mutter, the cloaked figure began writing on the white jade wall again.

Su Han: "..."

’Are you... worried I won’t die fast enough?’

Just as Su Han was rendered speechless, the cloaked figure in the vision had already finished rewriting the kill order.

She carved the final symbol, and the kill order took effect immediately.

Standing before the White Jade Disc, the cloaked figure thought for a moment, then nodded in satisfaction.

"The entire Assassin’s Alliance, every single assassin deployed... I refuse to believe you can keep hiding in your coffin, playing dead!"

Removing the Token that was embedded in the White Jade Disc, the cloaked figure turned and walked out of the cabin.

The moment she crossed the threshold, the cloaked figure paused.

"This way... it’s definitely strong enough, but... I haven’t actually endangered my dear grandson, have I?"

She stopped and paced back and forth, contemplating for a moment.

"Hmm, the little girl from the Renwang Family seems to have grown up. I’ll get her to go protect my dear grandson."

With that, the cloaked figure nodded and left.

And with that, the vision ended.

Staring at the tabletop, which had returned to being an ordinary stone table, Su Han’s face was... a mask of helplessness.

’So...’

’Dear grandson?’

’The person who issued a kill order to every assassin in the entire Assassin’s Alliance to assassinate me... is my own... great-grandmother?’

’Great-great-grandmother?’

’Great-great-great-grandmother?’

’Great-great-great... who the hell knows how many ’greats’ to add!’

’Does it have to be this absurd?!’

If it weren’t for this last scene, according to the usual tropes, the story should have developed in one of two ways.

One: He would investigate and discover that the cloaked person trying to kill him was an old flame of one of his ancestors.

She was loved and then abandoned by said ancestor, her love turned to hate, and now she was taking it out on him to force the ancestor to show himself.

In that case, if the protagonist was some goody-two-shoes with a bleeding heart, he’d feel that his ancestor had wronged the woman and thus be filled with guilt.

He’d face assassination attempt after assassination attempt, letting her go each time... insert ten million words here... and in the end, the destined lovers would finally be reunited, with him having played the role of matchmaker.

Blah, blah, blah, it was all a standard, cliché plotline. Su Han felt that if the rest of this story were written into a book... it would be at least as long as his ancestor’s "years in the Infernal Dao."

The second way the story could go: the protagonist facing this situation is a ruthless and cruel person.

The "I’d rather betray the world than let the world betray me" type.

Even knowing the truth of the matter, he would still hunt down the enemy without hesitation and kill her, cutting the weeds and pulling up the roots.

But... neither of those two developments applied to Su Han’s situation at all!

This cloaked person... wasn’t some old flame of one of his ancestors.

There was a much greater possibility that... she was one of his own elders!

’Dear grandson?’

’Great-grandma?’

Issuing an assassination mission with one hand while worrying he was in real danger and sending someone to protect him with the other.

It was exactly like a willful child playing house, a complete prank!

’This great-grandma... is kind of cute!’

But... what was he, who now knew the truth, supposed to do?

Should he let things continue, pretend he didn’t know anything, and play along with his great-grandma’s act with an award-winning performance?

Or... should he go find the ancestor who had likely set him up yet again and ask if he knew what was going on?

After thinking for a moment, Su Han looked up at Su Yi, who was also looking at him.

He knew she was incredible, but he never thought she’d be *this* incredible.

Just now, he had watched her tap the stone table a few times, and it had turned into a monitor, replaying the exact scene he wanted to see.

’That kind of power... he wanted it too!’

But since he didn’t have it now, he could only continue to ask for help.

"Um... is it possible to find this ancestor?"

Su Yi looked at him, thought for a moment, and nodded lightly. "I’ll try."

Su Han froze.

’Try?’

’You made it look so easy and effortless when you brought up those images just now.’

’Why do you suddenly seem so uncertain?’

Under Su Han’s puzzled gaze, Su Yi’s hand once again tapped the stone table a few times.

The same scene replayed: a profound power from the heavens and earth gathered at her fingertips, fell upon the stone table, and manifested a blurry image.

The image sharpened from blurry to clear, revealing a cloaked figure.

The cloaked figure seemed to be in a dark, silent space.

Slowly, the figure’s hand moved to the edge of the hood, gently pulling it back.

As the hand moved, a head of long, silver-white hair was revealed first, then the image panned down...

Su Han’s eyes were glued to the figure in the image, wanting to see the true face of this person who was likely his great-grandmother.

And then...

"CRACK~"

A shattering sound rang out. Su Han’s eyes narrowed as he saw mottled cracks appear across the image on the stone table.

The cracks spread until, a moment later, the image vanished completely. The final sight was frozen on a pair of eyes—as clear as autumn waters, yet as profound as an eternal abyss.

Su Han: "..."

He rubbed his eyes. The stone table was still there, without any cracks. It was as if the shattering sound he’d heard was just an illusion.

And yet... the image on the stone table was truly gone.

Subconsciously, he turned his head with a trace of worry to look at Su Yi.

He saw Su Yi’s brow furrowed, looking quite displeased.

She looked up at the sky, and her voice languidly uttered two words, "It cracked."

Following Su Yi’s gaze, Su Han subconsciously looked up.

At the sky!!!
