Skill Trees Are Everywhere
Chapter 134: The Killer—Yi Ersan
Su Han was pretty sure about one thing: whether or not Fifth Six-Seven was a pig demon in human form.
The Eye of Truth told him that this was, in fact, a pure-blooded human. The Eye of Truth couldn’t possibly lie to him.
So… he was very curious. How could one person, without Taotie genes and not some pig spirit reincarnate, eat so damn much?
Of course, that wasn’t the main point. ‘The point is, I haven’t even made any preparations, and he’s already here to assassinate me.’
‘If my cover gets blown just like that… how awkward would that be?’
While Su Han was pondering how to fool Fifth Six-Seven, Fifth Six-Seven’s suspicious eyes scanned Su Han up and down several times.
“Yi, you… you don’t play fair!”
Su Han’s heart skipped a beat. ‘Don’t tell me… this guy has already seen through my identity?’
Fortunately, Fifth Six-Seven’s next words proved his worries were unnecessary.
“Yi, you actually snuck off to do the assassination behind my back! Were you trying to make your move while I was eating?”
“Are you trying to steal my title as the number one assassin?”
Su Han: “…”
Looking at the indignant expression on Fifth Six-Seven’s face, Su Han secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
“Of course not. Am I the kind of person who takes all the credit for himself?”
Fifth Six-Seven glanced at him. “You are.”
Su Han: “…”
‘Holy crap! How did he see my true nature?’
‘What should I do? Should I silence him permanently?’
“You already tried to assassinate him once in secret. This is the second time.”
Su Han looked at Fifth Six-Seven and thought for a moment. “How could that be? If the assassination succeeded, why wouldn’t I share the credit with you?”
Fifth Six-Seven pouted. “I can do the assassination myself. I don’t need you to share the credit with m—”
Before he could finish, Fifth Six-Seven’s expression changed as he recalled how Su Han had appeared earlier.
“You… you didn’t already kill him, did you?”
Su Han froze.
“You… you really beat me to it and killed him?”
Su Han thought for a moment, then nodded. “Yep. So, do you want me to share the credit with you or not?”
“I don’t believe you! I’m going to see for myself!”
Seeing that Fifth Six-Seven was about to barge into his own room—and knowing his cover would be blown if he did—Su Han quickly grabbed him.
“What’s there to see? The Emperor’s Palace is crawling with experts. We risk being exposed.”
“This is no place to linger. Let’s get out of here, quick. You’ll get half the credit.”
Fifth Six-Seven still tried to struggle, but Su Han forcibly dragged him out.
All the way out of the Prince’s Residence, Fifth Six-Seven’s face was still full of displeasure.
“You… really killed him?”
Su Han nodded. “Would I lie about that? If you don’t believe me, just wait and see how the Royal Family reacts tomorrow.”
Seeing how sincere Su Han sounded, Fifth Six-Seven was starting to believe him. “So, you said you’d give me half…”
Su Han nodded. “Don’t worry. I, Yi Ersan, always leave my name after a kill.”
“This time, I left a note in the room: Assassins—Yi Ersan and Fifth Six-Seven.”
“By tomorrow, your great name, Fifth Six-Seven, will be famous throughout the entire Assassin Realm.”
Hearing Su Han’s words, Fifth Six-Seven’s expression flickered as something occurred to him. He grabbed Su Han and started walking toward the Natural Residence.
“Hey, hey? Where are you going in such a hurry?”
“It’s the middle of the night. The assassination probably won’t be discovered until dawn tomorrow.”
“The food at the Natural Residence is truly delicious. Who knows if I’ll ever get to eat it again in this lifetime.”
“Besides… since I’m the 10,001st customer, I get to enjoy free room and board.”
“Before dawn, let’s hurry back for one more meal, and then we’ll skip town.”
Su Han: “…”
Looking at Fifth Six-Seven, he uneasily scanned him again with the Eye of Truth.
When the feedback from the Eye of Truth confirmed that he was indeed a person and not a pig…
For the first time, Su Han couldn’t help but doubt his own Eye of Truth.
‘This guy… is he really human?’
…
「Natural Residence」
Su Han silently snuck in behind Fifth Six-Seven.
He watched as Fifth Six-Seven, without a hint of guilt, pushed open the door, found the attendant on night duty, and requested a table full of food and wine.
Fortunately, as a high-end club with branches throughout the Jing Country, the Natural Residence provided only the highest quality service.
Even in the dead of night, there were still waiters and chefs on the night shift.
Otherwise, a request like his would have been truly difficult to fulfill.
After giving his orders to the attendant, Fifth Six-Seven returned to his courtyard, only to see a stranger sitting there.
His heart leaped in shock, and he was so scared he almost turned and fled.
Luckily, before he could bolt, he noticed that the stranger’s clothes were identical to the ones worn by the Yi he had brought with him.
Hesitantly, Fifth Six-Seven asked tentatively, “You… are you Yi?”
Su Han nodded.
“As an assassin, mastering Disguise Magic is essential.”
“Now that we’ve committed a crime, it’s better to change faces, just to be safe.”
Fifth Six-Seven looked at Su Han’s completely unrecognizable face and nodded in agreement, his eyes filled with deep envy.
“Yeah, mastering a superb Disguise Magic is absolutely necessary for an assassin.”
“Unfortunately…”
Su Han didn’t take the bait. The two of them waited for about the time it takes an incense stick to burn, and then a procession of exquisite delicacies was delivered by the Natural Residence’s attendants.
They ate until the sky began to lighten.
Only when the first ray of dawn broke through the darkness did Fifth Six-Seven reluctantly put down his chopsticks.
After packing his things, Fifth Six-Seven stood before Su Han, looking shy and hesitant.
“Fifth Brother, is something on your mind?”
“Um… Yi, I want to see the Royal Family’s reaction, so I plan to stay in the city for another day.”
“It’s just that, this appearance of mine… the identity of Fifth Six-Seven is registered by name at the Natural Residence.”
Su Han looked at him with a knowing glint in his eyes. “You want to change your identity?”
Fifth Six-Seven nodded. “Um… could you help me with a disguise, too?”
Su Han nodded. “No problem. Close your eyes.”
Fifth Six-Seven’s face changed. He took two steps back and instinctively covered his butt. “Wh-what are you going to do?”
Su Han: “…”
His face darkened, and Su Han nearly lost the urge to chop him to pieces.
“It’s a secret technique. Not to be shared with outsiders.”
Fifth Six-Seven glanced cautiously at Su Han. Seeing no sign that his own stunning beauty had moved the other man, he nodded dubiously and closed his eyes.
Su Han raised his hand and waved it in front of Fifth Six-Seven’s face. The Disguise Magic skill activated, and Fifth Six-Seven’s face instantly changed.
“Done!”
Su Han said after a moment.
Fifth Six-Seven opened his eyes in confusion and looked at Su Han, his expression full of bewilderment.
‘I didn’t feel him do anything at all. How can he say it’s done?’
Su Han took out a mirror and showed it to Fifth Six-Seven. Staring at the unfamiliar face in the mirror, Fifth Six-Seven subconsciously touched his own cheek.
“This… is the disguise you gave me?”
Su Han nodded. “This face will last for three days. After that, it will revert to your original appearance.”
Fifth Six-Seven: “…”
‘Are you… sure this is Disguise Magic?’
‘This isn’t the legendary Seventy-Two Transformations, is it?!’
Su Han waved his hand dismissively and vanished from before Fifth Six-Seven in a flash.
He had just assassinated himself, after all. There was a whole pile of subsequent problems waiting for him to sort out.
For example… that group of assassins who might or might not return to the Imperial City.
For example… the reaction the Royal Family ought to have.
For example… whether that great-grand-ancestress who issued the kill order would come out of hiding after hearing the news.
For example… whether a certain old ancestor would be so furious upon hearing his precious grandson was gone that he’d leap right out of his coffin!
With so many things waiting for him, how could he have time to play around with this idiot?
