Chapter 130: Chapter 130: How Ridiculous

"Yes, all of them." Feng He nodded, looking at the artificial mutant beasts curled up in the corners with their eyes shut tight. "It’s the mutant beasts’ hibernation period. They’re harmless right now."

As they walked, they scanned their surroundings. They all stopped in their tracks when they saw an enclosure holding several mutant beasts armed with hammers.

"Hammer Beasts," Lin Jingjing said, naming them. Feng He focused her spiritual power and began to study them.

In Feng He’s eyes, these mutant beasts were all wreathed in black energy, completely devoid of life.

These people were already dead.

Averting her gaze, Feng He said with regret, "They’re all dead."

"Seeing them like this, how could they still be alive?" Shi Feng pressed his hands and forehead against the glass, staring at the Hammer Beasts inside.

"They’re alive, but only as mutant beasts," Mo Xuan chimed in, now standing beside him.

As the two chatted, the Hammer Beasts inside, perhaps disturbed by the sound of their voices, snapped their eyes open and shot to their feet.

Its crimson eyes stared intently at Shi Feng, who was pressed against the glass, and drool trickled from the corner of its mouth.

Their eyes met. Shi Feng froze on the spot. Only a layer of glass separated the man and the beast.

The Hammer Beast picked up a hammer that had been tossed aside. As one beast awoke, the others began to stir as well.

They slowly rose from the floor, their eyes glowing red as they stared hungrily at the group.

"Holy shit—" Shi Feng, who was practically plastered to the glass, cursed as he came to his senses and scrambled backward.

In his haste, he tripped over his own feet and nearly fell. If Mo Xuan hadn’t grabbed him, he would have hit the ground.

"Aren’t they supposed to be hibernating?!" Shi Feng demanded, flustered. "Why did they wake up?"

At that, Feng He explained, "Because they aren’t true mutant beasts, the hibernation instinct isn’t as strong in them."

"Besides, judging by their condition, they must have been hungry for a long time." Feng He took a step forward, her gaze sweeping over them.

Mo Xuan quickly moved to her side, warily watching the Hammer Beasts inside.

His hand was already reaching for the laser gun holstered behind his back. If the beasts inside charged out, his first move would be to pull Feng He aside and confront them himself.

They were tall and thin, their long hair matted, filthy, and ugly.

A few scraps of tattered cloth covered only the essential areas. It looked like the clothing they were wearing when they were captured.

"Let’s go," Lin Jingjing said after a final glance at them. "We can’t save them."

They had only taken a few steps when the Hammer Beasts roared and began pounding on the glass with their hammers, again and again.

Whoever built this underground lab was rich; the glass was made from the toughest material available.

So no matter how hard they hammered, they couldn’t shatter the glass.

As they continued on, they saw all sorts of mutant beasts—ugly ones, beautiful ones, hideous ones, and ferocious ones.

But without exception, they all looked powerful, and the sight made the group’s hearts ache.

"Are there this many people?" Gu Kaiwen murmured, looking at the beasts. The glass enclosures further on were packed with them, all crammed together.

Gu Kaiwen looked at the mutant beasts in the glass enclosures. They seemed utterly harmless in their slumber.

He could still vaguely make out their former appearances on their faces. If they had been fully transformed into beasts, Gu Kaiwen wouldn’t have felt such heartache.

But they hadn’t. These mutant beasts all retained some semblance of their former selves.

As the group walked on, their mood grew heavy.

It wasn’t just them; the netizens and the leaders in the viewing room were also deeply grieved.

[My daughter! That mutant beast curled up on the ground, the one with the slightly white hair, that’s my daughter! After her college entrance exams, she wanted to travel, so her father and I worked hard to save up 30,000 Star Coins for her. We just wanted her to see the world outside of F1 Star, but we never thought she’d go and never come back!]

[I finally found her!]

[SOB SOB SOB, my daughter isn’t coming back, she’s never coming back!]

The comment section was filled with parents identifying their missing children by their remaining human features and the items they had on them.

At first, they couldn’t believe it. But as the camera panned over and they got a clearer look, the parents who had lost their children had no choice but to accept the truth.

[My son said he was going to work hard and earn Star Coins for his dad and me. He was only 18! He went out and never came back!]

[AHHHH, my daughter, my daughter!]

The comments in the feed were painful for many to read. Some netizens, not knowing what else to do, could only type out words of comfort for the grieving families.

[My condolences.]

Yun Yiyou watched the livestream with a dark expression. At first, he hadn’t understood what the five were talking about, but if he still didn’t understand at this point, it would be his own failing.

"What’s the status of the team we sent?" Yun Yiyou asked.

The pressure around him was low, and the powerful aura he emitted was so intense that everyone present struggled to breathe.

Resisting the pressure, Beisang said, "They’re already halfway there."

"Tell them to speed up," Yun Yiyou said.

Just then, a knock came from the door of the viewing room. An official sitting nearby quickly got up to open it.

Seeing Captain Li standing outside, he hastily made way. After entering, Captain Li stood beside Yun Yiyou and gave him a knight’s salute.

Only after finishing the salute did he speak. "My King, I have something to report."

"Speak."

Having received permission, Captain Li began to speak, unhurriedly recounting the events that had taken place with Lin Jingjing’s group in Hong Fei Park, though he omitted the most critical details.

When he finished, he took a file from his Space Ring and handed it to Yun Yiyou. "The King may wish to look at this document."

Yun Yiyou looked down at the file. With every page he turned, the oppressive aura around him intensified. By the time he finished, his face was as black as thunder.

"Good. Very good." A surge of spiritual power from Yun Yiyou’s hand instantly disintegrated the document.

As Yun Yiyou’s anger flared, everyone grew terrified.

And yet Captain Li, the instigator of it all, stood to the side completely unaffected, as Yun Yiyou’s oppressive aura bypassed him entirely and bore down on everyone else.

Captain Li even watched the others present, finding it somewhat amusing to see them struggling to breathe under the pressure.

Yun Yiyou thought of the file’s contents and could only find it laughable.

’If that "Young Master’s" people are in all the legions, then the military must have been riddled with holes for years.’

’It’s not just the legions. The Capital Star must be the same.’

’Every single member of the Cabinet could be a spy.’

’A conspiracy this massive, and he was only finding out about it today.’

’How ridiculous.’
