Sorry, Our Captain Is a True All-Rounder
Chapter 137: Beijasi
Chapter 137: Chapter 137: Beijasi
No matter how they tried, the barrier wouldn’t appear. Worse, a bullet struck the Eagle’s wing, and it immediately plummeted toward the ground.
"Feng He! Sister Lin!" Mo Xuan’s eyes widened as he saw what was happening, and he screamed their names.
The Eagle couldn’t hold on any longer and vanished mid-air, returning to Lin Jingjing’s Spiritual World.
Feng He grabbed Lin Jingjing, pulling her into a tight embrace. She murmured, "Sister Lin, we’re not going to abandon you."
"Don’t you worry."
Without a moment’s hesitation, the three men jumped from the Eagle as well.
In this strange world, they were the only five who came from the same home. They weren’t just comrades; they were the best of friends. Even if it meant facing an interstellar apocalypse today, they would face it—and die—together.
"Fuck—" Captain Li cursed, forgetting he was in front of Yun Yiyou. "A bunch of damn idiots! Are they trying to get themselves killed?!"
’Fucking morons!’ Captain Li was livid. ’Those three useless kids had a chance to get away, so why did they have to jump?!’
’Are they in that much of a hurry to die?!’
"They’re insane!" Captain Li paced back and forth in a fury. "Completely insane!"
Yun Yiyou watched Captain Li, a curious glint in his eyes.
’It’s only been ten years since I let him out,’ he thought. ’I never expected the prim and proper captain, who always spoke so formally, to turn into... this.’
’Foul-mouthed, with conduct that was hardly commendable.’
"Are you that worried about them?" Yun Yiyou asked, resting his chin on his hand. His voice was light, making it impossible to tell if he was angry or simply curious. "They’re just five Grade D subordinates. If they die, they die."
Hearing this, Captain Li wanted to curse him out. ’But the man sitting in front of me is the strongest being in the Empire,’ he reminded himself. ’He’s the King.’
’I can’t curse him. I absolutely can’t.’
Captain Li suppressed the inferno of rage in his heart and forced a polite smile. "My King, these are soldiers from my logistics department. As their superior, of course I’m concerned about whether they live or die."
"If I don’t care about them, then no one will."
Yun Yiyou nodded. "Rest assured," he said. "They won’t die."
Gazing at the large screen, Yun Yiyou added, "The rescue team is here."
Beisang led the first, second, and third squads inside. As soon as they entered, they looked up and saw the five figures plummeting from above.
"Rescue, now!" Beisang yelled. The three squad leaders beside him immediately ran forward, taking out a large safety net.
They pulled it taut, and the large white net unfurled over the open ground. The soldiers looked up at the five falling figures, each one praying silently.
They had been watching the live feed on their way over, so they knew exactly what kind of monsters the group had been up against.
They’d heard that the group’s spiritual power was only Grade D. No one knew how that woman, Lin Jingjing, could materialize her spiritual power at such a low grade, but it was clear those monsters were beyond what they could handle.
But now that they had arrived, everything that happened here had to be stamped out.
This would also send a message to those lurking in the shadows: human experimentation would not be tolerated on any planet within the Empire.
When the people in the control room saw the army arrive, they all froze, unsure of what to do.
They turned to look at the man in the head seat, hoping he would tell them what to do.
Although the man in the main seat wore a mask, his clenched fists and the way he gritted his teeth showed just how furious and unwilling to concede he was.
"Back up the important data. Take what you can carry. Anything that can’t be moved, destroy it, just like last time." The man unclenched his fist and let out a long sigh.
’The army is here. This base is lost.’
Just then, the man’s Star Ring chimed. He glanced at the caller ID, and his expression changed drastically.
He answered the call at once, bowing respectfully to the figure on the other end of the video feed.
"Young Master."
On the video feed, the Young Master sat in a chair with his back to the camera. Even his voice was distorted.
"Beijasi, this is your second failure." The Young Master’s voice was devoid of emotion, but the words sent a chill down Beijasi’s spine.
"Please, Young Master, give me one more chance. I swear I won’t make this kind of mistake again," Beijasi pleaded, his voice trembling slightly.
"Beijasi, I do not tolerate failure." With that single sentence, the Young Master passed judgment on Beijasi’s fate. Just then, a woman stepped into view from beside the Young Master. She wore a tight black dress that accentuated her curvaceous figure, and her long, wavy golden hair was breathtakingly beautiful.
"She will be taking your place from now on," the Young Master said softly.
The woman lifted her chin haughtily, looking down at Beijasi through the video feed. "My name is Ni Sang," she said. "And I will show you what real competence looks like."
Her eyes were filled with disdain for Beijasi and utter confidence in her own abilities.
Beijasi was seething with resentment, but the Young Master had made his decision, and he had no choice but to accept it.
"Yes."
The Young Master continued, "Clean up the site. Don’t leave behind anything that could be useful to them."
"Release all the test subjects. Dr. S has already developed more powerful ones."
Having given his orders, the Young Master unilaterally ended the call.
Staring at the blank screen, Beijasi was in a foul mood. But the Young Master had given his orders, and he had to obey.
"Release all the test subjects," Beijasi ordered his staff.
"Cover our tracks, and then blow this place to kingdom come." With that, Beijasi turned and walked away from his post without a backward glance.
The staff followed his instructions. Half of them began backing up and then destroying data, while the other half started releasing all the captive test subjects.
The military unit that caught the five of them had no idea what they were about to face. For now, they all breathed a collective sigh of relief as Lin Jingjing and her team landed safely in the net.
Feng He, cradling the unconscious Lin Jingjing, watched the soldiers with wary eyes.
"Medics, get over there and check on them," Beisang commanded.
At the command, a medic named Lin Ye hurried out from the crowd, pulling out a scanner to check their conditions.
The scanner’s mechanical voice announced the results: "Lin Jingjing: critical condition. Severe damage to internal organs and spiritual power. Requires immediate medical attention."
"Feng He: moderate injuries. Gunshot wounds to the abdomen, shoulder, and thigh. Excessive blood loss. Requires immediate medical attention."
The scanner announced the status of each person as it finished scanning, quickly detailing all five of their injuries.
Lin Ye quickly opened a medical kit and began to administer first aid.
He raised a hand to treat Lin Jingjing, but Feng He slapped it away. "Give me the medical supplies. I’ll treat her myself."
Lin Ye stared at her, momentarily stunned.
At that moment, Feng He’s eyes were filled with distrust, and her other hand was clamped tightly around the hilt of a dagger.
It was clear she was terrified of anyone else getting near Lin Jingjing.
