Chapter 609: Break

“One versus two, it makes no difference.”

Lin Xuan’s gaze fell upon them. The two looked very similar. One was named Hei Xianyun, the other Hei Xianfeng. They were biological brothers, and their coordination was exceptionally seamless—absolutely perfect.

When the two of them worked together, their power increased dramatically, but Lin Xuan wasn’t worried. He knew they would be strong, but that didn’t mean he was afraid, much less that he thought he couldn’t defeat them.

Facing two opponents, he figured it was a good opportunity for some practice. He needed to unleash the full potential of his new Weapon; otherwise, he’d never know its true limits.

“I’ve long heard you were arrogant, and it seems to be true. But sometimes, overconfidence can lead to your own demise!” Hei Xianyun shook out his hand. With the help of Elixir Pills, his injuries had recovered slightly, but he still couldn’t move it freely.

“I don’t deny it, but if you don’t even have that much confidence, how can you ever hope to succeed?” Lin Xuan grinned, and the “Soul” character on the Soul Slayer Rod he gripped suddenly gained a golden sheen.

The Golden Dragon King’s soul was forcibly poured into it, instantly becoming the Soul Slayer Rod’s main possessing soul, adding a touch of gold to the red-and-blue weapon! Originally a Low Grade Divine Artifact, the Soul Slayer Rod’s quality soared. A faint, domineering aura began to radiate from it, causing the surrounding air to tremble slightly.

“What’s going on…?” Hei Xianyun froze. They felt that the Soul Slayer Rod in Lin Xuan’s hands had suddenly changed, as if it had come alive.

“Why worry about it? Big Brother, all we need to do is team up. The true essence of our Black Dragon Race’s Ultimate Skill is in the joint execution!” Hei Xianfeng said to Hei Xianyun in a low voice, “Let’s take advantage of his arrogance and finish him in one go. If we bring his head back, the Dragon King will reward us!”

“Of course. The more confident he is, the better… If we’re forced, we’ll just have to use *that* move.”

The moment Hei Xianyun finished speaking, he stomped on the ground and shot sideways, rapidly circling to Lin Xuan’s flank. Hei Xianfeng followed suit, moving to the other side to form an encirclement.

“Dragon Devouring Spirit!”

Both men simultaneously unleashed their full power. Black Dragon Scales erupted from within, covering their bodies. Black Elemental Power surged forth, and the Black Dragon Essence Blood in their veins was fully activated. A draconic roar bellowed from within them as a dragon tail sprouted from their backs and slammed heavily onto the ground.

With a wave of their hands, a terrifying black light surged out, like a dark cloud blanketing the sky. Because it was a joint attack, its coverage spread with incredible speed, enveloping Lin Xuan in the blink of an eye. As the two attacks merged, the black cloud’s aura intensified explosively, becoming many times stronger than the Dragon Devouring Spirit Hei Xianyun had used before. It was unexpected that the effect would be so greatly amplified when used together.

‘This Dragon Devouring Spirit is really strange. I felt it before—it can devour power. A truly dark style…’ Lin Xuan had already sensed something was off. He had planned to defeat them one by one, but who knew they would join forces and attack in the blink of an eye.

Such seamless coordination was clearly the result of long years of joint Cultivation to achieve such speed and power.

“Eight Extremes Staff Technique!”

Lin Xuan certainly wasn’t going to sit back and wait for death. He gripped the Soul Slayer Rod and spun it around him in a rapid circle. A staggering shockwave swept outwards, each wave carrying a golden glint within it, like a Golden Giant Dragon roaring as it lunged out to tear at its surroundings.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

The terrifying golden shockwave rolled out and slammed heavily into the black cloud. But then Lin Xuan discovered that when his attack hit the cloud, it was absorbed. It felt like striking cotton; the cloud merely trembled slightly.

Immediately after, the black cloud surrounding him grew even larger, its area expanding and its thickness increasing. It had completely absorbed his attack and converted it into its own power!

“It’s useless! An attack like that could never break through our combined assault! Just let us suck you dry. Don’t bother with any pointless struggles!” Hei Xianyun laughed, his eyes filled with mockery, as if he were looking at a man who was already dead.

“That’s right. Against the two of us, you lost your chance to escape long ago! Your attack isn’t weak, but against ours, it’s completely useless!” Hei Xianfeng added with a cold laugh, “If you want to blame someone, blame yourself for killing the Young Master. If you had obediently surrendered, things would be different. The Demon Race Continent is destined to be ours, the Black Dragon Race’s!”

“Your attack is a bit strange, I’ll give you that, but it’s not unbreakable…”

Lin Xuan brandished the Soul Slayer Rod. In an instant, the Martial God’s soul possessed him. Surging Martial Intent erupted from his body, and the “Soul” character on the rod he gripped was coated in another faint layer of gold, as if it had been filled to the brim with some invisible power.

“Divine Martial Intent!”

A cold light flashed in Lin Xuan’s eyes. He stabbed the Soul Slayer Rod into the ground—THUD!—and a large section of the earth caved in. This action, however, only drew scorn from Hei Xianyun and his brother.

“Is there a point to that? Do you think you can escape just by digging a hole? Let’s see what’s faster, your digging or our devouring!” Hei Xianyun scoffed, a look of sheer pleasure appearing in his eyes. He felt he was about to get his revenge; the wound on his hand was still faintly aching.

The words had barely left his mouth when they suddenly felt a gust of wind blow out from within the cloud, passing easily through its many layers. By the time they reacted, they saw a massive figure swinging an invisible staff, bringing it crashing down upon them.

BAM! BAM!

Before they could even process what was happening, two massive, phantom figures smashed down on them, scoring a direct hit and knocking them flying. They crashed into the Parasol Trees at the edge of the clearing, breaking several before finally coming to a stop, coughing up endless mouthfuls of blood.

Without their control, the black cloud drifted apart and soon vanished without a trace.

“You… How did your attack get through so easily…?” Hei Xianyun struggled to his feet, but before he could finish his sentence, a figure appeared before him.

THWACK!

A heavy blow from the rod struck him squarely in the chest. A chilling voice entered his ear: “Soul-Devouring Break!”

The next moment, an incomparably terrifying Soul Attack viciously poured into his soul. He only had time to feel a ROAR ring out in his very being before his soul shattered!
