Soul Emperor Awakening

Chapter 610: Total Annihilation

Lin Xuan slowly withdrew his Soul Slayer Rod. He sneered as he watched Hei Xianyun’s eyes gradually lose focus. “Your attacks are formidable. It’s a shame they can’t devour Soul Attacks. In fact, my Soul Attack is stronger than your combined power…”

Lin Xuan’s greatest strength had never been his Physique, but his Soul Attacks. A sufficiently powerful Soul Attack could even contend with the Core Formation Stage. That was how he had been able to so easily pierce the black cloud and deliver his strongest strike!

This was all thanks to channeling the Martial God, which amplified his power to an overwhelming, crushing level.

His self-created Martial Art, the Soul-Devouring Break, had directly detonated Hei Xianyun’s soul. He wasn’t dead, but his soul was so severely traumatized that recovery would be impossible without a Spirit Medicine like Resurrection Grass.

“B-Brother!” Seeing his older brother collapse to the ground, his eyes completely vacant, Hei Xianfeng roared in fury, “I’ll kill you!”

He stomped the ground with such force that it left a deep crater, then shot forward in a terrifying charge. His black Dragon Scales flared out as he entered a complete draconic state, transforming into a massive, humanoid Giant Dragon that roared as it advanced on Lin Xuan.

His speed and power erupted in an instant. He was like a black Meteorite hurtling forward, capable of destroying anything in its path!

“You’re the only one left. What difference do you think you can make?”

Lin Xuan twirled the Soul Slayer Rod in his hand and swung it at the charging Hei Xianfeng. A massive phantom of Divine Martial Intent appeared and surged forward—it was the phantom of the Martial God.

With the growth of his Cultivation, the Soul Attacks he could unleash had become even more violent. The colossal Martial God phantom raised its giant rod and brought it smashing down.

BOOM!

Hei Xianfeng took the blow head-on and was violently thrown back a fair distance. Some of his tough Dragon Scales shattered, but he was otherwise mostly unharmed. Just as he prepared to counterattack, a chill ran down his spine as a sense of crisis washed over him from behind.

By the time he tried to dodge, the Soul Slayer Rod had already slammed heavily into his back. A terrifying Soul Shock surged through him. His soul couldn’t hold out for long before it was overwhelmed and violently suppressed by the force of the impact.

BOOM!

Hei Xianfeng felt as if an explosion had gone off inside his head. His vision turned black, and he lost all sense of the outside world. He dropped straight to his knees, his eyes losing their focus, but he was still alive.

Both of them had become empty shells, completely unable to recover—at least, not without Resurrection Grass. Without it, they would remain in this vegetative state, which was no different from being dead.

‘The Black Dragon Race’s attacks are quite troublesome,’ Lin Xuan thought with a frown, once again reminded of his own weaknesses. ‘If my Soul Power wasn’t so strong, I would have been in for a bitter struggle.’

He had a hard time dealing with two Spirit Pill Stage geniuses from the Black Dragon Race working together. He was capable of fighting above his own stage, but their combined power increased exponentially. Even his Yulan Sacred Fire had struggled to break through their defenses. If his Soul Power hadn’t been so strong, he would have certainly fallen here.

Lin Xuan then took the Stone Slabs from their bodies. The moment he did, they vanished on the spot, evidently teleported away.

Losing one’s Stone Slab meant being teleported out. In other words, all one had to do to save their life was discard their Stone Slab—it was the equivalent of admitting defeat.

As Lin Xuan picked up the two Stone Slabs, the Red Energy within them floated out and flowed into the one he carried, quickly turning his own slab completely red. It wasn’t that their two slabs held an enormous amount of Red Energy; rather, Lin Xuan had already killed many Parasol Tree Monsters, so their contribution was enough to fill it to the brim.

The Stone Slab now looked as if it were imbued with dense Fire Elemental Power. The moment it was full, the image of a Phoenix appeared on its surface. It then emitted a red light that enveloped Lin Xuan, and he vanished from the spot as if he had never been there.

「Outside the Phoenix Ruins.」

The various experts waited outside. Elders from the Golden Dragon Race and the Black Dragon Race glared at each other, the tension between them thick enough to cut with a knife, but the situation had yet to erupt.

“That human you’re so keen on protecting? I doubt you’ll be seeing him again,” Dragon King Hei Chen of the Black Dragon Race said with a faint smile. “A pity for such a genius, but he killed my son. Do you really think I’d just let it go?”

The gates inside seemed random, but there were certain patterns to them, making it possible to meet specific people if one found the right path. In other words, for those who kept winning, an encounter was only a matter of time.

‘Once they meet, the two geniuses dispatched by the Black Dragon Race will surely eliminate Lin Xuan!’

“I wouldn’t be so sure!” Jin Wei retorted. “I think you should be more concerned about your two geniuses. It would be a waste for them to die in there.”

“Your mouth is as stubborn as ever, I see,” Hei Chen said, his gaze turning icy. “Have those old injuries of yours healed yet? Shall we have another round?” They desperately wanted to eradicate the remaining members of the Golden Dragon Race, but they weren’t confident they could finish them all off here.

A battle resulting in mutual destruction would benefit no one. More importantly, they hadn’t come here to fight the Golden Dragon Race; they had another purpose.

That purpose was the Heart of the Fire Phoenix—their most important objective at present. Everything else was secondary.

“Is that so? Then how about we go settle this right now?” Jin Wei took a step forward, not showing the slightest bit of fear.

In the preceding days, he had been recovering in the Ice and Snow Tower. The Recovery Chamber there was remarkably effective, and it had completely healed his latent injuries.

THUD! THUD!

Just as Hei Chen was about to say something, two black figures were ejected from mid-air and came plummeting down. His sharp eyes immediately recognized who had been thrown out.

He shot up into the air and caught Hei Xianfeng and Hei Xianyun. Both of them had vacant, lifeless eyes and were completely unresponsive.

“What’s going on?!”

When Hei Chen brought the two down and got a clear look at their condition, his face turned livid. He immediately saw that their souls had been shattered, reducing them to mindless husks! They couldn’t speak, couldn’t react—they were simply breathing.

To think that the two he had sent were so utterly defeated. Now, not a single disciple of the Black Dragon Race remained inside the Phoenix Ruins.

“Haha! Didn’t I tell you not to get ahead of yourself? I don’t know who did this, but I can only conclude that someone is stronger than your champions… I wonder which member of the Demon Race could it be?” Jin Wei roared with laughter. He felt an indescribable sense of satisfaction at the sight, but in his heart, he was actually quite surprised.

He could see their injuries—it was clearly Lin Xuan’s handiwork. ‘To think that after such a short time, Lin Xuan’s power has already reached this level!’
