Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station
Chapter 1365 - 380: Kill
The Star-Eating Entity has a total of six tails, each of which has been aimed at Chen Ming’s Insect Race Fleet from the start.
The stellar material flowing along the edges of its icosahedral head is being delivered to each of its tails through its internal structure.
Chen Ming had already guessed the type of attack this Star-Eating Entity was going to use.
He immediately ordered the Insect Race Fleet to disperse, increasing the distance between each other and the space they collectively occupied, maintaining irregular movement, at least avoiding standing in a straight line to prevent being affected by subsequent attacks.
Chen Ming’s command had just been issued when the Insect Race Fleet started to move.
Six stellar material beams fired from the Star-Eating Entity’s tails swept across the entire Insect Race Fleet.
Any contact with the stellar material resulted in annihilation for the Insect Race Fleet, with no means of resistance.
Even though the Insect Race had genes from the Aurora Wind Spirit, providing some resistance to plasma, in the face of the true plasma of a star, this resistance only delayed destruction by a second.
Chen Ming increasingly believed that the Insect Race Fleet needed shields.
If the Insect Race Fleet had shields, each ship could withstand a few more seconds, preventing the enemy’s attack from directly touching the armor and hull and destroying the whole ship.
Thinking about this now was useless; Chen Ming could only continue observing the battlefield.
The six continuous and repeated stellar material beams sweeping over the Insect Race Fleet seemed to have endless reserves, annihilating over thirty of Chen Ming’s main ships in the blink of an eye, without any sign of stopping.
On reflection, it truly did seem like it had endless energy.
After all, the bottom of the Star-Eating Entity’s body, with an organ similar to a mosquito’s proboscis, pierced into the star, continually absorbing stellar energy.
Unless the Star-Eating Entity’s body couldn’t withstand it, the star’s energy was truly inexhaustible to Chen Ming’s Insect Race Fleet.
The Insect Race Fleet spared no effort to evade.
Simply trying to avoid would almost certainly mean being hit by the stellar material beams, resulting in being incinerated in space.
But the Insect Race wasn’t entirely without options.
While evading the Star-Eating Entity’s attacks, the Insect Race Fleet also continually attempted to concentrate fire on the Star-Eating Entity’s tails, severing its means of attack.
The Star-Eating Entity only had six tails in total, and after a wave of stellar material sweeps, over a hundred of the Insect Race Fleet’s main ships remained.
This number of main ships had enough firepower to sever the Star-Eating Entity’s limbs.
And only severing two of its tails would make the remaining four stellar material beams unable to effectively suppress the Insect Race Fleet.
The Insect Race Fleet could instead suppress the Star-Eating Entity with their firepower and snowballingly sever all its tails.
The rate at which it regrew tails could not keep up with the rate at which the Insect Race Fleet was severing them.
The Insect Race Fleet could even spare firepower to attack the Star-Eating Entity’s main body.
For a moment, Chen Ming even felt they might be able to slowly suppress and eventually kill the Star-Eating Entity.
But he soon changed his mind.
Because this Star-Eating Entity, like the Plane Nightmare, had its unique abilities.
Suddenly, the edges of its head began to grow...
To be precise, it wasn’t the edges growing. Instead, the vessels inside the Star-Eating Entity responsible for transporting the stellar material broke through the head’s facets, growing outside its body.
The head, initially a near-perfect icosahedron, suddenly became covered in bright yellow and orange-red glowing tentacles, transforming from a geometric shape of beauty to a tangled cluster of twisting tentacles.
The ends of these tentacles were slender; high-precision sensors revealed an extremely dense array of seemingly closable holes on them.
The Star-Eating Entity’s body suddenly partially submerged into the star’s surface, increasing the absorption rate of stellar material, and temporarily halted tail regeneration.
This resulted in the accumulated energy having nowhere to go, all piling up inside its body, causing its tentacle-surrounded head to swell to its limit, its brightness reaching its peak.
Every tentacle, transformed from the "vessels" transporting stellar material from the Star-Eating Entity’s body, became immensely swollen, with the dense holes at the ends becoming ever more prominent amidst this violent change.
Stellar material compressed into these small, dense openings, and finally, as the Star-Eating Entity’s body neared its threshold,
it released these openings, allowing the stellar material to spray out like a fiery rain.
Even at a short distance, the terrifying density and destructive power of this fire rain was apparent.
Either they must jump away to a far distance to evade, or else there’s no way for the Insect Race Fleet to remain at a distance where they could continually inflict damage on the Star-Eating Entity while evading.
But warping to evade would directly grant the Star-Eating Entity a significant advantage.
The attack range of this giant beast far exceeds that of the main ships; once the distance is extended, approaching again would require another warp.
Though entering warp speed is fast, exiting isn’t.
If the Star-Eating Entity is on alert, catching the Insect Race Fleet at the moment warp ends is too easy.
Just like the Plane Nightmare did previously.
It seems the Insect Race Fleet encountered some trouble.
Under such restrictions, to stay and continue fighting the Star-Eating Entity, there was only one way forward.
