Chapter 1373 - 1349: Brothers at War
Chapter 1373: Chapter 1349: Brothers at War
Cold water dripped onto the neck, and the person in handcuffs stirred awake.
Wang Zhanting blinked his eyes, discovering he was in a place similar to an underground sewer. The humid air was somewhat breathable, with slippery moss underfoot and a pool of water beneath his backside, leaving him in an indescribable disarray.
As he surveyed the surroundings, he realized there was no one else around, except for himself. Above him, an iron lamp flickered, emitting a dim yellow glow.
"Is anyone there?" Wang Zhanting shouted, shaking his hands as he touched nothing but water. "What exactly do you want by capturing me?"
Click! Click!
The sound of leather shoes stepping on the concrete echoed, drawing nearer. Wang Zhanting wanted to turn around to see the person clearly, but due to being handcuffed, he could only glimpse a shadow.
"Hey! Let me go. If you want treasure, I’ll take you to it."
"Hehe!" Laughter came from behind Wang Zhanting, the familiar sound made his scalp tingle with goosebumps.
"Hua Qingyi!" Wang Zhanting shouted the name of the approaching person loudly, struggling desperately, his wrist rubbing with streaks of blood.
"Didn’t expect it to be me!" Hua Qingyi stepped in front of Wang Zhanting, a grin plastered on his face making it hard to discern his thoughts.
"You..."
"The people who captured you are Quan Xianglin’s, but your fate is now in my hands. You and I have quite the bond, don’t we?" Hua Qingyi lifted Wang Zhanting’s chin with a finger, deepening the smile on his face.
"Weren’t you with Xiao Lin...? How could you be with Quan Xianglin..." Wang Zhanting was so shocked he could hardly complete his sentence.
"Thanks to you, I’ve entered the political arena, and am now the current Family Head of the Hua Family. Naturally, for the better development of our family, I need to follow someone authoritative in politics." Hua Qingyi moved Wang Zhanting’s chin from side to side, his mocking eyes scrutinizing Wang’s pale face. "Didn’t the Wang Family make the same choice back then, opposing our Hua Family? I still remember how my dad looked lying in the hospital."
"That has nothing to do with me. Young Master Hua, it’s a bit unfair to pin this on me, right? After all, I’m people of Chairman Quan; we count as partners."
"Wang Zhantian hired someone to assassinate my old man, although he died horrifically, it doesn’t absolve your Wang Family for what was done to us. My old man was kind-hearted, but I’m not. I repay enmity with enmity, today Quan Xianglin chose our Hua Family, dropped you in my lap, unlucky for you!"
"What do you want to do?" Wang Zhanting shrank his shoulders back, trying to steer clear of Hua Qingyi, a gleaming knife pressed against his neck.
"Wang Zhanting, you should remember Wang Zhantian being dissected piece by piece by Shao Weihua, that feeling must have been incredibly painful for you—I’m going to let you taste your brother’s death, slicing off your flesh piece by piece and grinding it down." Cruel words spoken from a face more beautiful than a woman’s seemed eerily sinister.
With a swish, blood splattered out, the swift movement was like a declaration to Wang Zhanting that he wasn’t kidding. "The next spot won’t be as simple as cutting the skin," Hua Qingyi said softly.
The blade turned towards Wang Zhanting’s nasal ridge, the highest point on his face.
Feel the trembling of the person below, Hua Qingyi’s smile grew colder.
"Don’t kill me!" Wang Zhanting shouted loudly as the blade grazed his nose tip. "Killing me now won’t benefit you, I can give you those two treasures."
Hua Qingyi chuckled coldly. "Treasures, they’re useless things, what would I need them for?"
"With these two items, you could hold your political ground even without Quan Xianglin."
"Rather than those, I’m more interested in your life!"
Wang Zhanting couldn’t shout out as Hua Qingyi’s knife swiftly closed in.
Clang clang! The knife handle snapped into pieces, Wang Zhanting stared at Hua Qingyi in shock, as three Silver Needles flew from the side, striking the blade.
Hua Qingyi tossed the broken knife handle, turning to the person beside him. "Come out, brother!"
Xiao Lin, playing with Silver Needles between his fingers, had always been hidden in shadows. His back was to the light source, blocked by Hua Qingyi, Wang Zhanting couldn’t see the person hidden in the dark.
"Brother, I’m taking this man back to the Xiao Family," Xiao Lin faced Hua Qingyi, without looking at Wang Zhanting.
"I can’t give him to you," Hua Qingyi flatly refused.
Xiao Lin raised an eyebrow. "Anyone who stole the Dharma Seal will face Xiao Family’s wrath, I don’t want to conflict with you. Hand him over to me."
"Brother, don’t make it difficult for me."
"Since you still call me brother, let go," Xiao Lin stood firm without yielding, determined to take Wang Zhanting. "You left Sin City with Lao Jiu, I didn’t say a word. Everyone has their own aspirations; it’s my fault for not keeping you, but this time, I must take this person."
"I’m sorry!" As soon as Hua Qingyi finished speaking, he leaped into the air, facing not Xiao Lin, but Wang Zhanting who was leaning against the water pipe.
Wang Zhanting saw Hua Qingyi charging straight at him and couldn’t help but shout, unable to open his eyes to see the opponent, only feeling the gusts of wind brush over his face like sharp knives.
"Hua Qingyi, don’t force me to take action against you." Xiao Lin warned as he blocked Hua Qingyi’s attack.
Hua Qingyi responded to Xiao Lin with his actions, his fists swooping down like a fierce wind towards Xiao Lin’s head and chest, showing no sign of holding back.
Looking at Hua Qingyi’s determination, Xiao Lin couldn’t help but sigh, and underneath his hands, he no longer showed restraint but truly began to fight back.
With quick steps, Xiao Lin rapidly charged toward Hua Qingyi, a battle between brothers was ultimately unavoidable.
The sound of flesh colliding was heard, Hua Qingyi intercepted with his fists and arms, yet every heavy punch from Xiao Lin resulted in bloodshed and torn flesh.
Hua Qingyi chuckled, Xiao Lin’s seriousness ignited his excitement. "Brother, we have never had such a match, let’s have a good fight today. If you can beat me, I’ll stop pursuing this person, how about that?"
"You are not my match!" Xiao Lin confidently raised his eyebrows, adopting a horse stance, and gestured to Hua Qingyi.
"Don’t underestimate me!"
His nimble figure rose from the ground, his hands swirling in mid-air, seemingly drawing a Tai Chi Diagram, the strangely slow movements making Xiao Lin cautious.
Stepping his right foot forward, Xiao Lin intercepted each of Hua Qingyi’s moves, simultaneously applying force with his arms to break through Hua Qingyi’s hands, penetrating into his chest, and suddenly inserting into his waist, flipping him over.
Unable to shake off Xiao Lin’s grip, Hua Qingyi crashed to the ground with a bang.
A failed attempt did not dampen Hua Qingyi’s spirit; he flipped over and bounced up from the ground. Using the same move, he charged downward again, like hail in a storm, smashing toward Xiao Lin.
Learning on the spot, it tests a person’s memory and reaction; Hua Qingyi possesses a photographic memory, previously neglecting to observe when with Xiao Lin, but now in a real confrontation, this ability is fully showcased.
Wang Zhanting on the side was stunned by the bizarre techniques of the two, never truly encountering opponents; Xiao Lin and Hua Qingyi were giving him a lesson today, but it was too late, no matter whose hands he fell into, it wouldn’t end well, never realizing the strength of the two, now regretting it was too late.
Xiao Lin suddenly burst out with a roar, to break Hua Qingyi’s current tactics, the best way was to blind him.
Taking a breath, he quickened his pace, his entire being moving like a phantom past Wang Zhanting, so fast he was invisible.
In the midst, Hua Qingyi could barely see a blur, a gust of wind came at him from the right, Hua Qingyi ducked, and immediately the wind came from the left, in the same direction he dodged, unable to evade, Hua Qingyi slapped out his palms, deflecting Xiao Lin’s left fist, spun his waist, and kicked his right leg toward Xiao Lin.
Arms straightened and shielded his chest, under Hua Qingyi’s successive kicks, the arms burst open, blood trickling from the ruptured spots.
Seeing this, Hua Qingyi immediately accelerated his pace, yet after consecutive kicks, when he attempted a critical strike, Xiao Lin blocked with one arm, the left hand from below swept Hua Qingyi’s approaching leg, pulling back, and the whole person fell backward.
Hua Qingyi, grabbed by the ankle, lost his balance, but was unexpectedly rebounded into the air, taking advantage of the momentum as he descended, he propped a hand on the ground and rebounded again, his right palm turned claw reaching for Xiao Lin’s chest.
Thud!
Wang Zhanting opened his eyes, thinking Xiao Lin would suffer serious injuries from this claw, yet unexpectedly saw Hua Qingyi’s hand claw didn’t even touch Xiao Lin’s clothes, while his abdomen got pierced completely by Xiao Lin’s right palm.
How did he do that? Wang Zhanting couldn’t see clearly, nor could he check, only Hua Qingyi knew for sure.
Xiao Lin withdrew his right hand, simultaneously pressing several acupoints on Hua Qingyi’s body before laying him flat on the ground. "I’m taking him with me."
A spike flashed past Wang Zhanting’s face, his hands immediately freed, his body heavily crashing onto the ground.
"Thank you, I..." Wang Zhanting didn’t finish his sentence before Xiao Lin kicked him, knocking him unconscious.
"How do you want him to die?" Xiao Lin walked to Hua Qingyi and looked down at him.
"Falling into your Xiao Family’s hands, living is more painful than dying."
Xiao Lin curled his lips, giving Hua Qingyi a silent smile, and turned to vanish into the darkness.
Barely gone, a red-haired man approached Hua Qingyi. "That was harsh."
"If it’s not harsh, how can it be real!" Hua Qingyi clutched his abdomen, the internal injuries would take several days of rest. "Let’s go, we can report back now."
Lao Jiu felt lucky, not wanting to have a hole punched in him by Xiao Lin. (To be continued. If you like this work, please visit Qidian (qidian.com) to vote for recommendation tickets and monthly tickets, your support is my greatest motivation. Mobile users, please visit m.qidian.com to read.)
