Chapter 1376 - 1352: Tracking
Chapter 1376: Chapter 1352: Tracking
"Young Master has already tracked them down!" In the large villa, only the lights in the side hall on the first floor were still on. Master Qin walked lightly to Xiao Zhenfeng’s side. "’Black Crow’ is also following Young Master in the pursuit, sir, you don’t need to worry too much."
Xiao Zhenfeng bit down on his pipe. Whether Quan Xianglin had been captured by Mu Rongyun was still unknown. Although Lian’s plan was simple, it seemed insufficient to confront Mu Rongyun directly. Could merely having ’Black Crow’ intercept Quan Xianglin midway really lure Mu Rongyun out? Was that possible?
"Sir, should we finish off Quan Xianglin this time? Miss Lian’s plan was crafted according to your wishes, but just capturing him won’t eliminate future troubles. Assuming this is Mu Rongyun’s doing, we might settle old scores once and for all." Master Qin glanced at Xiao Zhenfeng’s expression. His heart still leaned towards Xiao Lin, something Xiao Zhenfeng was quite clear about. "The misunderstanding between Young Master and you runs too deep; it will be difficult to resolve in the future."
"Xiao Lin is determined to eliminate Mu Rongyun. Without Xiao Ya, he wouldn’t be so persistent. Lao Qin, you’ve watched Xiao Lin grow up; his thoughts aren’t something I, as his father, can fully understand," Xiao Zhenfeng sighed.
"Are you worried about Liu Yi, sir? Young Master isn’t an impressionable person; he will analyze the real from the fake himself. Even if he knows something, without evidence, Young Master won’t act rashly. After all, he’s someone you cultivated at great cost, with Xiao Family blood running in his veins."
"Find some people to support him. What Mu Rongyun wants most now is Xiao Lin. Even though Fourth Master died at the hands of the Assassin Group, Xiao Lin is still too inexperienced to deal with Mu Rongyun."
"Then, how do we deal with Quan Xianglin?"
"Tell Yi to seize the opportunity. At the right moment, kill!"
After receiving Xiao Lin’s message, Chu Qi quickly headed towards the outskirts and finally met up with Xiao Lin in a small town. However, they missed the best opportunity, losing the trace of Mu Rongyun again.
Xiao Lin, with a bad complexion, lay on the bed in the auto motel, surrounded by smoke. Chu Qi, like a child who had made a mistake, sat quietly on the side, feeling wronged but knowing he missed the chance.
Xiao Lin squinted, watching the smoke rise to the ceiling and slowly dissipate, leaving only a lingering taste in the air. Suddenly, Xiao Lin jumped off the bed and typed rapidly on the keyboard, soon displaying a map and their current location.
"’Black Crow’ followed us here. This small town is very close to the hill area where Wang Zhanting is hiding. Chu Qi, if you were Mu Rongyun, where would you hide?"
"In the mountains! If he’s not someone who likes using advanced equipment, the mountains would be a good place. Second, close to a water source; for long-term hiding, water is essential, and where there’s water, there’s food. Third, a retreat," Chu Qi said, relying on his field experience.
If it were an ordinary person, Chu Qi’s deduction wouldn’t be wrong. But Mu Rongyun isn’t an ordinary person. Whether he’s human or another creature, Xiao Lin couldn’t deduce; Xiao Zhenfeng never openly admitted whether the Mu Rongyun from back then was still alive. If he possesses the same constitution and survived while Mu Rongyun mutated, then the current Mu Rongyun cannot be judged by normal standards.
Of course, Chu Qi wouldn’t know these things, and Xiao Lin would find it difficult to explain. He shook his head. If Mu Rongyun were a monster like Fourth Master, he would definitely need power. There isn’t any in the mountains. Secondly, Mu Rongyun likes the dark; living in darkness, he wouldn’t choose nearby towns. Where would he be?
On the map, on one side was the town they were in, surrounded by two nearby cities. Eastward was a desert area; westward was the jungle, and further on were mountains, surrounded by the sea. Though they seemed close, in reality, they were definitely not places one could reach on foot.
Suddenly, a rapid knocking sounded. Chu Qi swiftly drew his gun and hid behind the door, gesturing for Xiao Lin to hide. It was strange to have visitors in this border town.
"Who?" Compared to people from Palermo, Chu Qi was a stranger. He quickly opened the door, only to find no one outside, just a box. He ran into the corridor but still saw no one.
"Who is it?" Xiao Lin asked as he saw Chu Qi returning with a box.
"Just this box. No sign of anyone," Chu Qi stopped Xiao Lin, who wanted to open it. "Let me do it."
Weighing the box’s weight and ruling out the possibility of a bomb, Xiao Lin watched Chu Qi’s cautiousness with a gentle smile. "Back when you were in the field army, I recruited you into the Dragon Soul."
Chu Qi grimaced, his hands never pausing. "If I’d met Young Master Xiao sooner, I wouldn’t have wasted so many years."
"It’s not too late now."
The box was opened, inside was just a silver box and an envelope. Xiao Lin immediately recognized it as the Xiao Family heirloom. The envelope contained an address and a key.
"What’s this?" Chu Qi asked curiously.
"Our Xiao Family heirloom, which should have been taken away by Wang Zhanting along with the Rose Staff. I know this person," Xiao Lin said, holding the key. "I’ll go alone. You stay here and wait for me. Within a day, Xiao Family’s people will contact me. If I don’t return in a day, go with them to find Mu Rongyun. I’ll inform Yelu Shou to come and support you. You’ll be fine with him."
"I can’t let you go alone," Chu Qi stubbornly refused Xiao Lin’s request. "It’s unclear whether this person is friend or foe. If something happens, how can I explain to the people of Sin City?"
"He won’t harm me. Besides, even if you follow, he might not show up. Do you need to worry that much about my capability?" Xiao Lin lightly patted Chu Qi’s shoulder. "Trust my judgment; do not follow. You have more important tasks here. I’ll come to find you."
Xiao Lin left the car for Chu Qi. Judging by the address on the envelope, it wasn’t far from the town. He set out towards the destination with convenient equipment on his back.
Just as he entered the alley, Xiao Lin sensed an unusual aura surrounding it, very unfamiliar. He furrowed his brow. Was he mistaken? Reaching the last house, it seemed like an empty city; there were no people to be seen, possibly due to the late night. A few homes still had lights on, which made the street appear even darker.
The door wasn’t locked, and Xiao Lin quietly slipped inside the house. The air was filled with dampness and mildew, not like a place someone would live. (To be continued.
