Chapter 47 | Vampire Aurelyx
Chapter 47: 47 | Vampire Aurelyx
[Jk: What’s faster than an Escalator?]
The others continued to cough and signal him even frantically, but the Head Hunter ignored them.
The blacksmith even reached across the table and grabbed his arm but the head hunter didn’t budge.
Holding his cup of wine with both hands, staring into its depths, the head hunter began to speak.
"Three days ago, my son and several young villagers secretly ventured into Hidden Misty Forest."
He paused, taking a long drink from his cup before continuing. "It was a secret our ancestors all vowed never to share with anybody. Over the centuries, the knowledge became so restricted that it eventually faded into myth. Most villagers today don’t even believe it exists."
The head hunter’s hands trembled slightly as he continued. "I told my son about it when he turned eighteen. It was my duty as his father and as the head hunter."
He drained his cup and set it down hard on the table. "But my son... had always been curious."
"Eventually, he convinced others it was real and ventured to the Hidden Misty forest. "
The head hunter inhaled deeply as he continued with a cracking voice.
"Since they left, it’s been three days we’ve heard news from them."
The Hidden Misty Mountain was clearly one of Beginner Village’s greatest secrets.
The Village Elder sighed, he looked around the room, meeting the eyes of each elder in turn, as if seeking their silent permission. One by one, they slowly nodded in approval.
"Since he already told you, and you’re pretty much a part of this village now, here’s no harm in telling you."
He leaned back in his chair and his eyes became ancient as though remembering a magnificent sight.
"According to ancient legends, over one thousand years ago, long before the World’s Glitch Apocalypse, a mortal who had ascended to godhood died within the Hidden Misty Forest."
"Such a thing should have been impossible," the Village Elder continued. "Mortals could not and have never become gods. The gods were always gods. The divine realms were always divine. There was no path for a mortal to ascend. Yet the legend claimed that this man had achieved exactly that."
Andrew’s eyes narrowed as he listened, his mind processing the information rapidly.
"Many believed that a treasure transformed the mortal into a god," the Village Elder said. "Some ancient artifact, some forgotten relic of power from distant epoch.
And when he fell, it was said that he left behind all his treasures in a mountain deep in Misty forest called the Godfall mountain. The mountain contained treasures, inheritances, and secrets capable of transforming an ordinary person into a god."
The Village Elder continued without pause.
"But the mountain is enormous and filled with danger. The legends speak of creatures that defied normal rankings and classification, beasts that have achieved higher power beyond their realms."
He took a slow drink from his cup before continuing. "Over a thousand years, countless youths and adventurers have searched for the hidden inheritance over the centuries. Most came back empty handed. Some died, some ran mad and a minuscule few returned stronger but if wasn’t worth it."
"Eventually, the village elders decided to seal the knowledge, and let the mountain fade into legend so that no more young people would throw their lives away chasing an impossible dream."
Andrew’s eyes narrowed further. He had never heard a single mention of the Hidden Misty Forest anywhere.
Suddenly, his system notification rang out.
[Hidden Mission Triggered]
Mission: Investigate the Hidden Misty Forest
Objective:
↳ Discover whether the legend of the Godfall Mountain is true.
Reward:
↳ ???
Andrew was surprised. The system itself displayed question marks for the reward, which was exceedingly rare!
Andrew was incredibly excited! Another hidden mission with a mysterious reward. Maybe it could lead to a Mythic grade weapon.
Before he could think further, another mission appeared.
[Hidden Mission Triggered]
Mission: The Blacksmith’s Son
Objective:
↳ If the blacksmith’s son is alive, rescue him.
↳ If he is dead, bring proof of his fate back to his father.
Reward:
↳ ???
Andrew immediately accepted both missions without hesitation.
He placed a hand on the head hunter’s shoulder.
"I’ll find him," Andrew said quietly. "I’ll find your son and bring him back."
The head hunter stared at him for a long moment, then nodded slowly. He didn’t say anything men didn’t need to show their thanks, action speaks louder.
As the night wore on, the feast gradually wound down. One by one, the villagers succumbed to the wine and the exhaustion of the emotional day as they fell asleep at the table. Others stumbled home with the help of friends and family.
The Village Head provide Andrew with a place to stay overnight And rest.
The room wasn’t large but the bed was extremely comfortable.
Andrew laid down and stared at the roof.
’24 hours should almost be over, then I will be able to log out and change my living situation.’
With this thought, he fell asleep for the first time in Heaven’s Domain.
...
The sounds of birds chirping woke Andrew up.
He opened his eyes but was stunned as an extremely pair of eyes stared right at him.
Andrew didn’t panic. Since his danger sense didn’t activate, it meant the person wasn’t any threat to him.
The two continued to stare at each other without blinking as though it was a contest.
For what seem to be an hour, the two simply stared at each other.
"Aurelyx! What do you think you’re doing?" Soon, a feminine voice interrupted them and a middle aged woman came in.
The pair of eyes retracted and the person’s head tilted then shifted to the middle-aged woman and smiled brilliantly at her, revealing two sharp canines.
"Good morning Sister Lisa."
The middle-aged woman was the daughter of the village head that he had rescued yesterday.
She frowned. "Why are you disturbing the Hero’s sleep?"
The girl shrugged. "I just wanted to see what the hero who fought bravely in King Grey Rat dungeon and rescued the thirteen dungeon looks like."
Then she shifted her gaze to Andrew. "You don’t seem like much though." She said thoughtfully.
Andrew who had been lying down, raised his upper body and stretched. "You don’t seem like much, either."
[Ans: An Escasooner...]
