Chapter 70 | Too Easy! Hell Mode!
Chapter 70: 70 | Too Easy! Hell Mode!
Andrew slowly rolled his shoulders, then cracked his knuckles. A grin spread across his face.
"Finally," he said to the empty sky. "Something interesting."
---
Andrew turned his head slowly, scanning the horizon.
’Where are the enemies?’
His Omniscience Perception activated on instinct. An invisible wave of awareness pulsed outward, reading the world in crisp detail.
One hundred meters, three hundred, five hundred meters and a full kilometer. Nothing.
Not a single living creature.
Andrew frowned. "What the hell. If there’s nothing around, where are the beasts supposed to come from?" He tapped his foot on the cracked earth. "Don’t tell me... they spawn through spatial transportation?"
At that exact moment, a mechanical voice echoed across the empty plain, cold and clear.
[Please select your weapon.]
The air shimmered in front of him. Countless holographic weapons flickered into existence, rotating slowly—swords, spears, daggers, massive battle hammers, double-bladed axes, bows of every shape. Andrew’s eyes skimmed over them without much interest.
He reached out and touched a sleek silver broadsword. It materialized in his grip, perfectly balanced, its edge gleaming faintly. He gave it a casual swing. "Not bad."
The voice returned.
[BEGIN]
The ground shook.
Cracks splintered across the dry earth right under Andrew’s feet.
He hopped back a step, watching.
Then,
"BOOM!"
The dirt exploded upward and a massive figure clawed its way out.
It stood nearly three meters tall, a hulking humanoid torso covered in thick gray hide.
Its arms were like tree trunks, each ending in razor claws that glinted like dark metal.
But the real horror was above its shoulders, two monstrous rhinoceros heads with a massive sharp horn that curved. Steam snorted from its nostrils in hot bursts.
A glowing notification appeared before Andrew’s eyes.
[Level 7 Two-Headed Rhino Demon.]
Andrew didn’t flinch. Instead, he watched as the ground erupted again. Another Rhino Demon pulled itself free. Then another until five of the beasts surrounded him completely, their combined roars rattling the air.
"Level 7?" Andrew sighed, rolling his neck. "That’s disappointing."
The five demons charged at once. The ground trembled under their weight. Dust clouds billowed.
Andrew stood perfectly still, sword held loosely at his side, until the very last moment.
’WHOOSH.’
His body blurred. A fading afterimage hung where he’d been standing. The closest Rhino Demon barely had time to widen its eyes.
’BANG!’
Andrew’s fist smashed into its chest. The creature’s torso caved inward like paper, and its entire body detonated into a spray of glowing particles that faded into the air.
Without pause, Andrew twisted sideways.
’BANG!’
A second demon exploded. A third lunged, claws sweeping for his head; he ducked under the swing and drove a punch straight up through its jaw.
’BANG!’
Particles scattered. The fourth tried to blindside him from behind, but Andrew simply elbowed backward without looking.
’BOOM.’
It vanished. The last demon let out a desperate roar and charged with its horns lowered.
Andrew stepped forward and snapped out a straight punch. ’BANG!’ Its skull shattered, and the entire beast dissolved into light.
Five seconds, Five monsters annihilated.
Andrew stood in the settling dust, the silver sword still clean in his hand. He hadn’t even used it.
The mechanical voice returned.
[System: There are four Trial Modes: Normal, Intermediate, Hard, and Hell.]
[Completing a Trial determines your Ranking, not your current strength.]
Normal Mode → Bronze Rank
Intermediate Mode → Silver Rank
Hard Mode → Gold Rank
Hell Mode → Black Rank
[A higher Rank signifies greater talent, potential, and combat capability under pressure.]
[Rank also determines the amount of resources, privileges, and authority granted within the Ultra Program.]
Resource Multipliers:
* Bronze Rank: Base allocation.
* Silver Rank: ×3 Bronze resources.
* Gold Rank: ×3 Silver resources.
* Black Rank: ×6 Silver resources.
[Higher-ranked Ultras receive priority access to cultivation resources, equipment, missions, inheritances, and special opportunities unavailable to lower ranks.]
[Defeating a Trial above your current difficulty immediately upgrades your Rank and grants the corresponding rewards and privileges.]
[Higher Rank also commands greater prestige. Lower-ranked Ultras are expected to yield priority and show appropriate respect to those above them.]
[Hm, I don’t really understand but let’s choose Hell mode]
[Ding! Hell Mode Selected]
The countdown ended, and the earth exploded again.
This time, five new figures rose, larger and stronger than there predecessors.
Their muscles were denser, layered like armor. Dark crimson veins pulsed beneath their thick gray hides. Their horns were sharper, longer, and a heavy, oppressive aura rolled off them.
A new notification appeared.
[Five-Star Elite Two-Headed Rhino Demon.]
Red numbers floated above each head: |HP: 2,000|.
Andrew’s lips curled into a real smile. "Now this is what I’d call a decent warm-up."
The five elite demons bellowed and attacked with terrifying speed. The first one threw a massive punch straight at Andrew’s skull. He tilted his head just slightly, the fist grazing his cheek, and countered in the same motion.
’BOOM!’
His fist buried itself in the creature’s ribs. The entire right side of its body exploded inward. A red number flashed: |-2000 HP|. The demon shattered into particles.
Another rushed him from behind. Andrew’s Omniscience Perception had already mapped every step it would take.
Without even turning, he stepped backward at a strange, gliding right through the tiny gap beneath its raised arm.
The movement was impossibly precise, like water flowing around a stone.
He reappeared behind the beast and delivered a brutal kick to the back of its skull.
’WHAM.’
The demon’s head smashed into the ground with a sickening crack. |-2000 HP.| It disintegrated.
A third demon leaped into the air, diving down with both claws extended.
Andrew flicked his wrist. The silver sword spun upward, a clean arc of light.
’SHING.’
The blade punched straight through its chest midair. |-2000 HP.| The monster burst into particles before it even hit the ground.
The fourth beast charged. Andrew met it head-on, stepping forward and slamming a fist into its chest. ’BANG.’
Its torso collapsed. The final demon roared, but Andrew was already in front of it, driving an uppercut under its chin.
’BOOOOM.’
The monster’s upper body detonated in a cloud of light fragments. For a moment, glowing particles hung in the air like fireflies. Then they faded, and silence returned.
Andrew lowered his fist. His expression was completely calm. He might have been swatting flies.
