SSS-Rank Lord Supreme: The Ultimate Devourer
Chapter 42: The Might of a True Supreme
In the void.
A darkness that swallowed all light.
The space where all Worlds existed.
There were two large worlds in proximity to each other.
They were close, but the distance between them was vast beyond measure.
The two worlds influenced each other.
Slow and steady, they drew close.
The two worlds were close not only in space.
In the even deeper void, they intersected, their boundaries touched to each other.
Here in this deeper void, they steadily merged, faster than the space outside implied.
On one side, there was a world that was a large sphere.
On the other side, the world was also a large sphere, but it wasn’t alone.
The large sphere sat above a smaller sphere.
With the difference in their size, the smaller sphere almost unnoticeable.
If this scene was witnessed through the eyes of a mortal.
They would find the sight of the larger sphere sitting above the smaller sphere somewhat comical.
However, those who were qualified to be here saw something different entirely.
The larger sphere wasn’t just sitting above the smaller one.
It suppressed it completely.
The restrictions that wrapped the smaller world was thick beyond measure.
The larger sphere seemed to be suppressing something it couldn’t afford to let loose.
*
The moment the presences that felt vast beyond measure arose from the Immortal World and the Demon World.
The quake stopped.
Everyone in the mortal world felt like they just had a reprieve from death.
Those mortals with no cultivation felt this even more deeply.
The joy of survival spread around the world.
They would live to see another day.
In the void that was dark and vast beyond measure, the supreme beings from both Worlds surrounded a creature that looked like an amalgamation of different empty spaces that shifted, clashed and destroyed each other.
It was a blob that was vaguely humanoid.
Of the two people who had been fighting, it was the only one still here.
The other person had left.
It wasn’t an escape.
They had simply left when the supreme beings of both Worlds had revealed their presence.
At that time, the vaguely humanoid blob that looked like empty spaces had retreated from the true outlands.
The other being, having nothing to hold them back, had simply left.
They had accomplished their goal after all.
There were five people from the Immortal World, and three from the Demon World.
They were the ones who had chosen to come deter the two beings.
That was all they came for.
A deterrence.
No one was in the mood for a fight.
They had given the two battling supreme beings enough respect, and allowed them have their battle.
However, there was no way they would allow them continue.
Not at the risk of devastating their Worlds.
"Being of the void, I did not know this section of the Expanse was within your purview."
A supreme being from the Immortal World spoke.
He was the one in front, the other supreme beings from the Immortal World stood a step behind him.
This did not mean that he was their leader.
It simply meant that he was the strongest among them.
The vaguely humanoid blob made of empty spaces, the one referred to as being of the void, turned its attention to the one who spoke.
Its head had been turned in the direction of the place it had just left from.
All of its attention had been focused there.
It had been observing the traces of the one it had been fighting.
Tracking the path through which they had left.
"Being of the Immortal World," it spoke.
The voice didn’t come from its mouth, not that it had any.
It was transmitted to everyone in the void.
"Everywhere there is even the slightest trace of the accursed one, their associates, and all related to them. Every such place, even if it is just the slightest leak of their presence."
It paused.
"Every such place is under our purview."
It didn’t fear the fact that it was alone. Its confidence was astounding.
One of the supreme beings from the Demon World laughed.
It was boisterous.
It resounded in the void that was empty of all such elements that could bear such a powerful laughter.
"Has your curse eroded your brain so much that you do not know where you are?"
The supreme being words carried immense weight.
The being of the void was unbothered.
"We are under the mandate of the Sage Realm to hunt all such traces of the accursed. Your world just happens to be in the way of my duty. You should be lucky you aren’t implicated in this mess."
Everyone.
Both from the Immortal World and the Demon World were stunned.
This thing had some really big guts.
Before someone could put the damned thing in its place, someone spoke.
It was the man from the Immortal World, the first person to address the being of the void.
"Fellow seeker of the path, this is the Expanse, not the Sage Realm. This is the Immortal and Demon Domain, not where you can act as you please. We have given you enough respect by letting you confront the one you sought."
"Shove your damned respect down your throat. When it suited you to act all mighty and pompous, you gave that damned, miserable bitch the opportunity to escape."
The voice of the being of the void was laced with venom.
It seemed to almost want to take out its anger on the people surrounding it.
The silence that followed was beyond anything the void had ever witnessed before.
"Whatever mandate you have from the Sage Realm is none of our business."
The man didn’t seem bothered with the insults, though.
He was unruffled by the agitation of what he considered a miserable being.
"We can’t in good faith allow you ruin our Worlds, so you can complete your duty."
"Ruin your Worlds?" The being of the void looked at both Worlds that looked pristine.
It laughed.
"With the way you people have turned this place into a fortress? If there had been ten more of me bombarding this place for a year, I doubt there will be much trouble for you."
The man nodded.
"There will be no trouble for us. But our juniors don’t have such ability or luck. You attacked a legacy? I will expect even a measure of shame from you."
"I was saving them from the corruption their elders won’t save them from."
This being of the void was really invested in goading everyone.
"I will kill you!"
A woman from the Immortal World had almost attacked when the man raised his hand.
The woman halted her attack.
"I do not find that funny."
The man’s voice had a edge to it now, no longer was it calm and unruffled.
"Whatever vendetta or grievance you might have with the Ancient Supreme. That gives you no right to endanger the life of any being of these two Worlds."
The being of the void had no discerning features. It was just an amalgamation of empty space in a vaguely humanoid shape.
But right now it was so full of mirth, a grin could almost be seen on what it called a face.
"Who knew you actually thought of them as anything."
It shook its head.
"If you hadn’t said it, I honestly wouldn’t have known."
"The matters of our Worlds are no concern of yours."
A supreme being from the Demon World spoke.
"Yes. Yes. You are right."
The being of the void looked around at everyone.
"What vendetta do I have with the Ancient Supreme? What grievance? If that being who I curse everyday to die a grievous death hadn’t decided to adopt that accursed thing. Would I be here?"
Its voice held great anguish as it shouted into the void.
"Would I be here slaving for the Sage Realm, not even allowed the dignity of dying. Cursed for all eternity?"
It calmed down.
Its voice held an unmistakable threat as it spoke its next words.
"If I find any trace of the accursed among any being of your world, I will make sure all of you suffer the same fate as mine."
"You dare threaten me."
Those words showed how surprised the man from the Immortal World was.
"You weakling. You dare threaten me."
The being of the void seemed to have gone crazy.
It didn’t relent.
"I don’t threaten. I will make sure I do as I promised."
It had truly gone mad.
Despite being outnumbered, and no doubt outmatched.
It raised a finger and pointed at the man.
That was the last straw.
The man’s aura didn’t rise.
It filled the void at once.
His forehead shone with blinding golden light.
In the void around him, the apparition of a massive beast had taken over all the space.
What seemed to be its head was the only thing vaguely visible.
A serpent so massive its head rivaled a World.
The rest of it was hidden in even deeper spaces.
"Let me see how you will carry out that promise."
"Oh, you will."
The being of the void answered the challenge.
Around it, space began to deform.
