SSS-Rank Lord Supreme: The Ultimate Devourer

Chapter 63: THE ULTIMATE DEVOURER SYSTEM (1)

The exploration group was a gathering of people from different powers.

All of them always vying with each other at every moment.

They were peers, but also rivals.

With no single leader chosen to lead the exploration, everyone wanted to be the last to talk.

A very chaotic situation unfolded.

The path of the exploration was not going to be smooth.

It was a fact that couldn’t be more certain.

All sort of arguments had been made about how to move forward.

But no final decision could be arrived at.

The limit breakers argued like they had all the time in the world.

The other F-Rank cultivators, all stood to one side.

Watching them.

Neo also stood on his own.

He didn’t bother to join the pointless argument.

He was in a sense an outsider.

He wasn’t here as the representative of any power.

If not for Kotil inviting him, he would have nothing to do with this exploration.

"So, you are a limit breaker already."

Raela had come beside him.

She finally had the chance to be alone with him.

Naturally, she wouldn’t let the opportunity pass without letting him know what was on her mind.

She seemed calm, as she said this.

She looked to have gotten over the shock she felt at that fact.

Neo nodded.

"How is that even possible!"

Or maybe not.

"You were just in the third level when I met you, and now..."

She struggled to complete that sentence.

It was clear, she really had not gotten over it.

She still struggled to comprehend the mind boggling fact.

Neo looked at her.

If she was like this now, he wondered what she would have done if she had witnessed what he did to those strange creatures.

"How is that even possible?"

Neo said aloud, he seemed to be pondering those words.

Rolling them on his tongue.

He looked at those glowing stones in the roof of the cavern.

He looked to be in deep thought.

It was like he had been asked a deep, thought-provoking question, and he was about to give an era changing answer.

He sighed.

"Raela," he called softly.

She was eager at attention.

"Yes?"

"You won’t believe it, if I tell you."

Neo looked like he was about to reveal some world shaking secret.

"Just tell me. Stop dawdling."

Neo nodded.

He exhaled.

"Training. A very brutal training."

Raela gave him a look.

She kicked him in the leg, and walked away.

"Damned Immortal World brat."

Neo could only shrug.

He was telling the honest truth.

It was not his fault that she didn’t believe it.

He turned his attention to the people who were still arguing.

They couldn’t decide on a path to follow.

Neo felt he had been patient enough.

Now, he was getting tired of their nonsense.

There was a reason he accepted Kotil’s invitation to join them in this place.

And with their pointless, and useless argument, they were simply getting in his way.

He couldn’t let them waste his time any further.

He walked towards them.

There was no hesitation in his steps.

They were all bent over the book Humba had given to them.

There was a large sheet on the inside.

On it was the drawing of what seemed to be a map of the paths that had already been explored.

It was the cause of the commotion.

When Neo saw the drawing, he understood why Humba said this place was a maze.

Some of the paths were already connected to each other, others were dead ends.

The main contention was that some people wanted them all to follow an already established path.

Others wanted them to create a new trail, and diverge from already established paths.

Both had solid points.

Following the established paths represented safety.

Creating a new one was a way for them to discover untapped opportunities.

But no agreement was coming anytime soon, not even a compromise.

Even among the ones that wanted them to follow an established path, there were disagreements about which path to follow.

"I think I have an idea of where we should all follow."

Neo’s voice cut through the commotion, like a hot knife through butter.

The commotion died down immediately.

They all became quiet.

Everyone slowly turned to look at him.

Neo remained perfectly calm.

He was simply unbothered by their stares.

He walked to the man who had the book with him.

He grabbed it from his hands.

Of course, the man hadn’t released it of his own volition.

He simply had no idea how Neo was able to snatch it from him.

Neo carefully observed the map that was drawn on the sheet.

He chose one place at random.

A relatively unexplored path.

He raised his head from the book.

He didn’t bother to say anything.

He simply walked to the path he had chosen.

Whether they followed or not?

That was their own problem.

While some were still wondering what had just happened.

Kotil followed.

Before anyone could say anything.

Samath and Tukitan didn’t dawdle.

They followed right after Kotil.

Their people followed right after them.

"Wait for me!"

Suren’s voice cut through the air.

She wasn’t one to waste time.

She already knew why the three of them followed right after Neo.

"What are you all waiting for. Get a move on."

When she saw that her people weren’t following.

She scolded them.

They also followed right after her, albeit grudgingly.

When the other limit breakers saw the heavyweights follow the man, who none of them recognized.

Many of them already prepared themselves to follow.

They convinced themselves that there was strength in numbers.

Raela had moved beside the limit breaker from her family.

The man looked at her.

She nodded.

There was no need for any words to be spoken.

"Alright, everyone. We will be following that path."

Of course, he meant the path that Neo had said they would follow.

Neo stopped, right before he entered the passageway.

It was the path he had chosen.

He looked at it well.

He wasn’t searching for anything in particular.

But there was something he had observed.
