SSS-Ranked Lust System: Taming Beauties Is My Calling
Chapter 147: Frozen
The younger version removed the Crown.
He held it loosely in one hand.
"Before you erased yourself, you created me."
David didn’t move.
"You created the part of yourself that could remember everything."
The Crown trembled slightly in his hand.
"You knew you’d eventually forget."
David’s eyes narrowed.
"So you created someone who wouldn’t."
The younger version smiled.
"Exactly."
David looked at the Crown.
"Why?"
"Because someone had to remember what you did."
"What did I do?"
The younger version’s smile faded.
"That’s what you’re about to find out."
David stepped closer.
"You’re avoiding the question."
"No."
The younger version shook his head.
"I’m answering it."
He pointed toward Elena.
"She died because of you."
David’s jaw tightened.
"I saved her."
"You tried."
"She asked me to."
"Yes."
"Then why did she die?"
The younger version looked at Elena.
"Because you weren’t strong enough."
David froze.
Elena opened her eyes.
The younger version continued.
"You thought removing her from memory would protect her."
David’s chest tightened.
"You were wrong."
The Crown pulsed.
"You didn’t save Elena."
The younger version looked directly at him.
"You hid her."
The corridor trembled.
David felt something inside his mind beginning to open.
Not the white door.
Something deeper.
A memory beneath the memory.
He saw Elena standing in front of him.
Crying.
He saw himself holding the Crown.
He saw seven doors.
He saw blood.
Then he saw something else.
A hand.
His hand.
Holding Elena’s.
And behind them—
A world collapsing.
David stumbled backward.
Elena caught his arm.
"David."
He looked at her.
"You knew."
She shook her head.
"Not all of it."
"You knew I hid you."
"I knew you tried to save me."
"That’s not what I asked."
Elena’s eyes filled with tears.
"Yes."
David looked away.
The younger version watched silently.
David’s hands curled into fists.
"Why didn’t you tell me?"
"Because you weren’t ready."
David laughed bitterly.
"That word again."
Elena stepped closer.
"I was afraid."
"Of me?"
"No."
She looked at the younger version.
"Of what you’d remember."
David followed her gaze.
The younger version was still holding the Crown.
And suddenly David understood something.
He hadn’t created that version of himself to remember everything.
He had created him to remember the one thing David himself had been unwilling to face.
The worst choice.
The choice that had created everything afterward.
David looked at the Crown.
"Give it to me."
The younger version smiled.
"No."
"Give it to me."
"You’ll remember."
"That’s the point."
The younger version’s eyes darkened.
"And if you remember everything, you’ll remember why you begged me to stop you."
David froze.
The younger version raised the Crown.
"You didn’t create me to remember your life."
He placed the Crown against his chest.
"You created me to remember your last decision."
The white door inside David opened wider.
A flood of light spilled through his mind.
Elena shouted his name.
Samuel stepped back.
The founder dropped to his knees.
David saw it.
The night.
The original boundary.
Elena standing before him.
The Crown in his hands.
The seven founders behind her.
And himself screaming.
Not at them.
At himself.
He remembered Elena reaching for him.
He remembered telling her to run.
He remembered her refusing.
He remembered the Silence arriving.
He remembered what he had done.
David’s eyes widened.
"No."
The younger version smiled sadly.
"Now you remember."
The memory continued.
David saw Elena die.
Not once.
Again.
And again.
He had tried to reverse it.
Every time, the Silence followed.
Every time, Elena remembered.
Every time, the boundary weakened.
Until finally Elena had looked at him and said the words he’d forgotten.
You can’t keep bringing me back.
David’s breathing became uneven.
She had known.
She had understood before he did.
The younger David had begged her.
She had refused.
And then she had made him promise.
Not to save her.
To let her go.
David’s eyes filled with tears.
He looked at Elena.
"You asked me to erase you."
She nodded.
"Yes."
"You knew I’d forget."
"Yes."
"You knew I’d hate myself for it."
"Yes."
"Why?"
Elena stepped closer.
"Because if you remembered me, you’d come back."
David stared at her.
"And you knew what would happen if I came back."
She nodded.
"You’d try to save me again."
David closed his eyes.
The truth hurt more than the memory.
He had not forgotten Elena because he was weak.
He had forgotten her because he loved her enough to obey her final choice.
When he opened his eyes, the younger version was still standing there.
David looked at him.
"You remembered all of this."
"Yes."
"All these years."
"Yes."
"Why didn’t you tell me?"
The younger version looked at the Crown.
"Because you wouldn’t have listened."
David understood.
He looked at Elena.
Then at the founder.
Then at Samuel.
Finally, he looked at the white door inside his chest.
The door was fully open now.
Nothing stood behind it.
No darkness.
No Silence.
No prison.
Only memory.
David took a breath.
Then another.
He didn’t try to shut it.
He didn’t try to escape.
He let everything return.
Every world.
Every death.
Every choice.
Every person.
Every mistake.
Every moment with Elena.
Every reason he had become the man standing here.
The memories didn’t destroy him.
They hurt.
But they didn’t destroy him.
David looked at the younger version.
"You were right."
The younger version said nothing.
David stepped forward.
"But you were wrong about one thing."
The younger version frowned.
David reached for the Crown.
This time, the man let him take it.
David held it in both hands.
"You thought remembering would make me repeat the past."
He looked at Elena.
Then at the collapsing facility.
Then at the white door.
David’s expression steadied.
"It won’t."
The Crown began to crack.
The younger version’s eyes widened.
"What are you doing?"
David looked at him.
"The thing I couldn’t do before."
The first crack spread across the Crown.
Then another.
David tightened his grip.
"I’m choosing again."
The Crown shattered.
The sound wasn’t loud.
But the entire facility stopped.
Every crack froze.
Every flickering wall became still.
The city beneath them disappeared.
The white landscape disappeared.
The corridor became silent.
David stood holding nothing.
For a moment, nothing happened.
Then Elena took his hand.
David looked at her.
She smiled.
Not the smile from the memory.
Not the smile of someone waiting for him to remember.
A real smile.
"You came back."
David squeezed her hand.
"I told you I would."
She shook her head.
"No."
Her eyes softened.
"This time, you chose to."
David looked at the broken pieces of the Crown scattered across the floor.
For the first time, he didn’t feel the need to put them back together.
Behind them, something moved.
David turned.
At the far end of the corridor, where there had once been a wall, stood a white door.
The same door.
Except this time, it wasn’t locked.
David stared at it.
Samuel whispered,
"What is that?"
David didn’t answer.
The founder slowly stood.
His face had gone pale.
"That’s not part of the facility."
David looked at him.
"Then what is it?"
The founder swallowed.
"The way out."
David looked at Elena.
She nodded.
He stepped toward the door.
Then stopped.
He glanced back at the founder.
"You said you’ve never seen her."
The founder lowered his eyes.
"I haven’t."
David’s expression hardened.
"But you knew her."
"Yes."
"Why?"
The founder looked at Elena.
"Because she was the only person who ever convinced you to stop."
David said nothing.
The founder continued.
"And when you erased her, we thought you’d never remember why."
David looked at Elena.
She squeezed his hand.
The corridor trembled again.
The white door began opening by itself.
Beyond it was not another room.
It was darkness.
Endless darkness.
But somewhere inside that darkness, David could hear something.
A heartbeat.
Slow.
Steady.
Familiar.
His own.
David stared into it.
Then he understood.
The Crown had not been the prison.
The facility had not been the prison.
Even his memories had not been the prison.
The prison had always been the version of himself who believed he had to carry everything alone.
David stepped toward the doorway.
Elena followed.
Samuel hesitated.
The founder remained behind.
David looked back once.
"Are you coming?"
The founder shook his head.
"No."
"Why?"
"Because this is where you stop needing us."
David studied him.
Then nodded.
He turned back.
Elena walked beside him.
They stepped through the door together.
The moment David crossed the threshold, the facility disappeared behind him.
There was no sound.
No light.
No ground.
Only darkness.
Then a voice spoke.
His voice.
Not the voice from inside his chest.
Not the voice of the younger version.
Something older.
Something that had been waiting long before the worlds existed.
"You remembered her."
David stopped.
Elena looked at him.
The darkness moved.
David tightened his grip around her hand.
"I did."
The voice was silent for a moment.
Then—
"Then remember me."
David’s eyes narrowed.
The darkness opened.
And something enormous looked back.
