Chapter 2137: Darkness Recedes (I)

  • Next Chapter

Chaos Sky gripped the book with nervousness, excitement, and unadulterated joy... This seemed like the real deal!

Perhaps the other wanted to do the same as Li Hao and turn him into a second Disorder. But being newly arrived, this fellow didn’t know that the ninth ranks wanted time, not order. He was only offering order!

Even if Chaos Sky became a ninth rank from this, Skyward and the rest wouldn’t go toe-to-toe with him because he wielded only order. Hence, if what this fellow had in mind was to set the ninth ranks against him, he thought wrong.

What people want is your dao of time!

Chaos Sky very carefully absorbed some energy of order and brightened again when he saw that it was real. There didn’t seem to be anything wrong with it.

Given that, he devoted full effort to absorbing order.

“How are there so many people who don’t respect the rules and custom...” sighed Su Yu. He looked around with resignation.

He was indeed slightly resigned that there were so many people around. Fucking hell, I know why Old Geezer Time threw time away. That old thing is the biggest con artist. I have to face so many heavyweights right after emerging in the chaos!

One, two, three...

There’s more than two dozen powerhouses, each of them possibly stronger than me. And the thing is, none of them feel like they’re at max strength either!

Hot diggity damn!

Time, you suck!

Su Yu looked wordlessly around him, then nodded to himself when his eyes settled on Chaos Sky. Mmhmm, as strong as that man was, his brains didn’t follow suit.

He probably hasn’t read that many books. In that case, I may be able to take out all of these guys one by one.

We of Myriad Realms do not seize treasures that have owners. But those without... go to whoever has a shared destiny with them!

Is the Heaven’s Stratagem yours?

Sure. But... it’s mine if you die.

Su Yu looked around again, as if waiting for someone. There was no sign of who he wanted after all this time. Finally, he sighed. Where had that old geezer gotten to?

Was he being serious, hiding away at a time like this?

You old bastard!

I helped you last time, alright? Honestly... No wonder you’re labeled as a demon and hunted down by others. You deserve it!

Su Yu smiled. He was neither as brazen as the Human King nor as coldblooded as Li Hao. He was simply relaxed and at ease. These old farts may be strong, but he wasn’t afraid at all!

......

The third generation cultivator of time had descended upon the chaos. It was an unexpected development that caused quite a stir. Surprisingly, the youngster was very humble and unassuming...

These were descriptors that came across as contradictory. No one was a fool, anyone who could rise from the new chaos and become its master would... not be unassuming.

Or perhaps they would be, but they shouldn’t be such sticklers for the rules either. How else would they be so strong and become the greatest beneath the heavens?

Hence, the crowd was wary.

At the same time, strength spoke volumes. This Emperor Yu was on par with Li Hao at the latter’s strongest. All of the nine ranks were present in the chaos now. Chaos Sky himself was also an apex heavyweight who fully rivaled the ninth ranks.

Therefore, although Chaos Sky was confused by the events, he was at ease when he sensed order returning to his grasp. So long as this breathing space continued for a while longer and he regained his strength, there would be nothing to fear even if schemes were afoot.

The caveat to that was assuming that there was nothing wrong with this power of order. Regular issues were no problem to take care of.

At his level, even if a large amount of poisonous dao strength was mixed in with order, it still wouldn’t cause the death of a powerhouse infinitely close to ninth rank like him.

Chaos Sky was very much reassured now.

“Everyone, we of Myriad Realms are newly arrived in this land,” Su Yu smiled. “We do not intend to become enemies with everyone. Please tell us whatever you need. We will try our best to satisfy whatever we can.

“Myriad Realms has been at war for many years. Peace is rare for us, we cherish it deeply. After so many years of war, the various kings of Myriad Realms no longer wish to conduct further campaigns...”

A sigh told everyone that they didn’t lack the ability to wage war, but that they had fought for so long that everyone was against it now and sought peace. As strong as they were, they no longer wished for conflict and bloodshed.

These words were more believable to the rest of those assembled.

“Now that’s interesting.” Calamity’s eyes darted around in the distance and he sniffed. “Do you know why there are so many people here today? We’re all here for you!”

“Were the seniors not here to begin with...?” Su Yu asked with puzzlement.

“Not at all!” sneered Calamity. “Of course we weren’t! You ask what requests we may have—it’s simple. Just give us the time beneath your feet!”

This person was strong and wielded time. Despite that, it wouldn’t be a problem to actually kill him.

Again, the key was that the ninth ranks weren’t necessarily a united front. Chaos Sky, the Human King, and Spring Autumn also rivaled them in strength. If pitched battle broke out, it may not be the ninth ranks who ended up with time.

It would be so much easier if this person really was willing to hand over this dao.

This would also determine if the guy was putting on an act.

“Time?” Su Yu stomped on the star beneath his feet. “Do you mean this river of dao?” He frowned slightly. “This is the foundation of Myriad Realms. The senior’s request is a bit out of line. We are not afraid of war, we simply do not wish to raise the banners of war ourselves.

“We can hand over order, but not time! This river is the foundation of Myriad Worlds. But if there is an equivalently strong dao that can support us, I would not be miserly either. A trade can be made. When it comes to the dao of time... it is... inauspicious!”

Su Yu shook his head slightly, as if wary of the dao. His reedy body was the very image of a cultured and educated man. He wore an expression of sorrow, as if receiving grim news.

Inauspicious?

The group started. Time was... inauspicious?

“I see that the various seniors have incredible daos and are likely much stronger than me,” Su Yu continued. “If someone is willing to trade their dao with mine, one that is enough to support Myriad Realms, then I would be willing to give over time!”

Collectively frowns crossed faces.

Spring Autumn swiftly appeared in the distance. She was so diminutive now that she looked like a child of three or four years old. Her voice was much younger than before. “You can’t do that!”

Ninth ranks leveled frosty glares at her!

“Do you know what kind of price Li Hao paid to create Myriad Realms?” Spring Autumn said urgently. “These guys won’t let you go freely for it. Li Hao killed too many people and the replicas of these guys to boot...”

“And I thought there was some big issue at stake.” Su Yu raised a hand to cut her off. “Li Hao... is not me. Do not mention the origin of Myriad Realms. I am not his heir. I am just a regular human from Myriad Realms and have experienced life and death to reach my current heights.

“What this little friend speaks of... doesn’t have much to do with me.”

Little friend?

Spring Autumn blinked with astonishment, then flushed with anger. I’m a little friend just because I look young? Is this guy pretending to be an idiot or an actual idiot?

What a bastard!

How could that fool Li Hao really give time to someone like this??

She’d thought that Li Hao would retrieve the dao when the new chaos reappeared and swiftly become the master of time again. He might even verify his dao as a ninth rank. But now... there wasn’t a single sign of him!

His successor seemed strong, but dumb.

There were two dozen ninth ranks in this spot. Spring Autumn looked on with despair. These guys had returned earlier than imagined. They were faster than anticipated, despite not returning in peak condition. While she could handle one of them with no pressure, what was the point of that?

It’d be two people if she worked with the Human King. And let’s say the New Martial, Silver Moon, and Spring Autumn factions all worked together. Could they handle another one or two ninth ranks?

That meant a total of five ninth ranks, maximum, if the entire chaos allied together. That did not include Chaos Sky. It wouldn’t change a thing!

Spring Autumn could only hope to recruit the newcomers. Emperor Yu had many powerhouses under his banner and had inherited time. He would be able to put up some resistance while he controlled time, if he had any influence from Li Hao’s intelligence.

But once he no longer wielded time, his people wouldn’t be good for anything! It didn’t matter that they had a lot of eighth ranks. To the heavyweights present, they would obliterate an eighth rank with one punch. No matter how many there were, all that was needed was a few more punches.

Spring Autumn kept up a constant litany of curses in her mind. That dumb, stupid Li Hao!

No, that crazy, foolish Li Hao! Why did you give up time?! Look at the situation now! Do you expect a little guy to turn the tables?

Aren’t you stronger than him? Why have you pinned your hopes to a bunch of people from the future who don’t know anything? You completely lost the plot, Li Hao!

She looked at the Human King, hoping for the man to say something that would change everything.

However, Fang Ping simply watched on silently. He seemed to be observing something and was completely staying on the sidelines. He also seemed to be wary of those ninth ranks.

Normally a cocky and obnoxious fellow, he was keeping a much lower profile today. In fact, he hadn’t said anything up to this point and barely moved at all.

“Is the Human King afraid as well?” Spring Autumn began to grieve as she looked around her.

So I’m the only one who wants to change the tides and hope to defeat the ninth ranks. So the Human King has given up as well. Li Hao is even more decisive and outright disappeared. Has he completely lost hope and found a place to live out his days?

Whatever it was, there was no sign of Li Hao to be seen even now.

“Chaos Sky!” she growled as her head snapped toward the man.

No one else is saying anything, what about you?

Are you going to sit by and watch these guys hand over the dao of time?

He thinks you’re the emperor of the chaos universe, so you might be the only one who can stop him!
