Chapter 2142: Pitched Battle (II)

“It’s just that Silver Moon martial masters care about face at the end of the day,” Li Hao laughed. “We say that scholars are the most blackhearted of all. It’s good to have an education, but the more books one reads, the more the gods of the heart are shattered!

“I... could not bear to cast aside my dignity at the end of the day. We of the martial world still care about that, after all!”

Su Yu couldn’t help but laugh.

In the distance, the Human King smirked as he brought his blade down. Li Hao!

This guy was so hypocritical that he was renowned throughout the chaos for it. He hadn’t wanted to break time himself, so he’d created a new chaos and a new candidate to do so.

The new person was the one to shatter time, not him. But obviously, everything had been done with influence from Li Hao.

Now look at him pretending to be all innocent.

But when it came to the technical side of things, Li Hao was indeed not responsible for the demise of death.

“What, is this what you wanted to do all along? You should’ve said something, I would’ve ended it all with one blow!” the Human King roared with laughter. “Why go to all this trouble?”

“That would be too much of a waste!” Li Hao laughed. “We should at least make use of this dao and nurture a powerhouse out of it. He can be a minion, at the very least. Wouldn’t it be giving up so many other opportunities if we just crushed it the first time we saw it?

“The rise of Fellow Daoist Su Yu is also something I wished to see...”

Su Yu promptly scowled. “I hate people sticking their nose in my affairs! My life is my own to organize! Who the hell do you think you are, Li Hao?!”

His moods changed at the blink of an eye, shifting faster than Li Hao switching expressions! He hated someone else dictating his life!

“I haven’t done anything to you.” Li Hao’s loud laughter rang through the void. “You took over the chaos that I created, so how are you shameless enough to say that I stuck my nose in your affairs? No one could’ve forced you to do anything if you were unwilling, disinclined, or didn’t want to take action.

“My teacher was the successor that I identified and Myriad Realms is the enterprise that I undertook. It’s already a showing of mercy that I don’t take you to task for seizing it. How can you say that I dictated your life?

“They say that scholars turn on a dime, so does this mean that you’re going to flip on me?”

The two completely ignored the ninth ranks with their conversation!

Meanwhile, the group of ninth ranks were still drifting through the haze of broken time. Some listened to the two, others contemplated other matters. And yet some others attempted to repair time from the fragments drifting around them.

There was only one time. It was broken now, which perhaps made it possible for them to succeed in cultivating it.

“I am someone who clearly identifies my grudges and debts of gratitude,” Su Yu chuckled. “Since your time has broken today, that counts as satisfying your heart’s desire. That clears the tally between the two of us!

“We walk our own paths from now on and I am not your heir...”

“I never thought of you that way, I don’t like the thought either. What heir? The discipline of the Five Styles is not recruiting anymore disciples,” came Li Hao’s response.

Yuan Shuo paused in the middle of devouring the dao of the five elements. Um, hello? I haven’t said anything? I’m the real master of the Five Styles, alright?

You’ve just cut off my discipline’s legacy!

Honestly... fine, whatever.

Just having you is enough.

He’d forgotten that he actually had other disciples. Those had all left, leaving his final disciple Li Hao. And now, Li Hao was his only recognized disciple as only the young man bore the proper bearing of the Five Styles.

“Hahaha, very well then!” Su Yu threw his head back with laughter. “Although you’re a wicked person, you also don’t drag things out! It’s good how things are now. The demise of time means the end of these guy’s hopes...

“Are all of you still intent on being enemies with me now that time is gone?” The youngster chuckled at the group of ninth ranks. “I’m not an easy target, alright? There’s no conflict of interest between us now, but Emperor Chaos Sky is about to verify his dao as a ninth rank.

“A real ninth rank will be stronger than any of you. In my opinion, it’s the weakest that should die. You guys have trained your eyes on me all this time due to the presence of time. That’s been completely pointless. I think we can join hands to kill Chaos Sky first!”

“......” A ringing silence greeted his suggestion.

Chaos Sky’s eyes widened during his retreat. Time had shattered alongside the ninth ranks’ hopes. On the other hand, he’d inherited order and disorder, and was swiftly growing stronger for it. He actually did stand a chance of surpassing them.

After all, these guys all lacked sufficient spirit.

It was he who still possessed sufficient spirit since Su Yu had given him a dao of order with ample spirit.

“Don’t fall for it!” Chaos Sky shouted sternly. “He’s using me as a second Disorder! Disorder was a fool and insisted on reaching beyond his abilities. Unlike him, I only cultivate order. I do not want time! I don’t conflict that much with everyone...”

Someone scowled ominously behind Su Yu, extremely pissed by those words!

But he quickly settled down again. He’s talking about Disorder not me. I’m not Disorder!

But... I also seem to be Disorder?

I think I was before?

Su Yu tilted his head, drawing an eye roll from the other. What you looking at? This emperor will smash you with a mallet if you keep staring!

...fine, it’s not like I can beat you.

Su Yu smiled thoughtfully, looking at the Martial Emperor again. So this guy... had inherited Su Yu’s will?

How could he? He wasn’t that strong.

Based on what these guys said, Disorder was a powerful ninth rank who’d been stronger than even Li Hao’s master...

Although the Martial Emperor had risen in the primordial age of unrest, he’d been one of the tyrants of the world. He’d been suppressed by others and ended up in a sorry state. How would a ninth rank ever be reduced to such a level?

Su Yu then looked at Li Hao, who remained insistent on hiding. Perhaps that guy... had done something to everyone, apart from his master.

What a truly black-hearted fellow.

And he says I’m wicked. He’s the definition of wicked!

Otherwise, a ninth rank should not have ended up in such a sorry state after reincarnation. He was corralled as soon as peace descended, released in a pathetic fashion whenever war broke out, then imprisoned again once peace was at hand!

Su Yu couldn’t help but shake his head with a silent laugh. The master of time was a ruthless and vicious person, yet he dared say that scholars were the most cold-hearted. Clearly, he’d read plenty of books of his own since he’d inherited the dao of supernatural characters.

Detonating time hadn’t been to kill his enemies, but to drive a wedge between the ninth ranks!

Not all of them would want to kill him if the dao of time wasn’t on the table. Some would despair, some would lose hope, and some lost their way of their own accord. That was the key to splitting up these people.

Chaos Sky was the shield that Su Yu had selected for his actions, just like Li Hao had chosen him!

The young Emperor Yu had known how to take on his enemies as soon as he walked out of Myriad Realms.

The corner of his lips turned upward and he looked into the distance again. Li Hao had seized chaos dao moments ago and immediately killed the dao master of the five elements. Clearly, the young man was formidable and hardly crippled as the others said he was.

Granted, Su Yu hadn’t believed that claim in the first place.

However, what did he want to do in keeping to the shadows and refusing to appear?

He didn’t understand it, but also knew too little of the chaos to make a judgment.

There was some confusion in the group of powerhouses facing him. Those who’d wanted to kill him now grappled with different opinions.

Su Yu took his people and flew toward the New Martial side without another word. That prompted some ninth ranks to shoot upward, Calamity in the lead.

“Trying to get away?” he snarled, a quiet fury in his eyes. “Do you think we’ll let you off the hook after you’ve destroyed everyone’s hope??”

He gnashed his teeth and looked at Skyward in the distance. “Skyward, these people are our greatest enemies, despite all of your schemes up your sleeves! Is Li Hao really trash now?!

“You’ve permitted the Human King and Li Hao to grow stronger, now you let this Su Yu grow stronger. You continue to weaken us ninth ranks. Have you forgotten who your old friends actually are?!”

He was truly enraged and vented all of the ill will in his heart. Skyward! You’re the one responsible for the situation we’re facing today! What is it that you want to do??

Whether it was Li Hao, the Human King, or Su Yu, there’s been a process required for them to grow strong. And during this process, Skyward had actually facilitated their efforts.

Li Hao had obtained some heritage from Skyward and the Human King had devoured his world. Skyward could have delayed or stopped both occasions.

If he hadn’t thrown a wrench into Chaos Sky’s search for the new chaos, then the latter might’ve been able to interrupt the flow of time and prevent those powerhouses from becoming so strong. How would they cultivate without the benefit of increased time?

Skyward was involved in all of this! Just what did he want??

Countless thoughts rose in Calamity’s mind and he gnashed his teeth. “Skyward, are you planning on using the spirit dispersed from our deaths to recover to peak condition? You’re confident that you can kill them all and regain control over the chaos again, aren’t you?”

If we all die, there will be enough spirit to bring you back to full strength. That’s what you’re planning, isn’t it?

Or do you have something else in mind?

The ninth ranks quickly paled at these words. This speculation wasn’t without reason. They quickly clustered near each other, abandoning Skyward.

Some gathered near Calamity, others centered around Chaos Sky. There wasn’t a single person left around Skyward as the ninth ranks looked at each other with shared tragedy.

When did we become someone else’s pawn?!

Today, they discovered that they had been a pawn all along. Perhaps Skyward had manipulated them from the very start.

“Brother Calamity is overly worried,” Skyward frowned faintly. “I said a long time ago that everyone can return to their peak so long as time is stabilized. You can fully recover your old state and even enjoy a longer life. You will be immortal!

“As big as the chaos is, it is also small. What is the point in me dominating the chaos and seeing all of my old friends die? Is it fun to see the newer generation replace everyone I know?

“Everything I’ve done has been in pursuit of helping time grow and develop, so that we might attain our goals...” he sighed and shook his head. “The only thing I didn’t anticipate was that they would actually blow up time!”

“You possess all daos,” Calamity said frostily. “Since they have blown up time, why can’t you cultivate it instead?”

“You don’t understand...” Skyward shook his head with a sigh. “The spirit of time has died.”

The spirit has died?

Calamity blinked.
