“That’s right, the spirit of time is dead.” Skyward looked in the direction that the shadow had appeared in. “War was the cultivator of time and the first generation of time. In the same vein, he was the true spirit of time! And just now... he died!

“Perhaps just like he said, he did indeed regret his achievements with time back in the day. He wanted to destroy it, but couldn’t truly cut down the spirit of time even when he committed suicide.

“Maybe what he searched for during all these years was someone ruthless enough to obliterate this spirit.”

Skyward seemed to understand why War had chosen to end his life. It was also starting to become apparent why each of his chosen heirs had been more unrelenting than the last.

Perhaps this was the kind of person that War had wanted. He needed someone who could truly end his dao.

The spirit of time was completely dead, which meant that the dao of time was thoroughly dispersed.

Everyone’s hearts jolted. Then would no one ever be able to cultivate time again?

“War could... but you cannot?” Calamity remained skeptical. “Are you concerned that we’ll attack you instead after you recreate the dao of time, that we’ll force you to hand it over so we can stabilize the chaos?

“Skyward, you are still the strongest among us even after you give up time!

“We are unable to recover to our peak now that time has been destroyed. Our lifespan is at end and we will really die at this rate. I can’t promise that we might not go crazy at that point!

“No one else is going to enjoy their life if it comes down to the moment of my death!” Calamity’s eyes were red. “You must have some other ways, right?”

Calamity clenched his jaw. You must have!

Li Hao’s group is strong and have risen extremely fast, but you, Skyward, are the strongest of our era. You came first and are the most talented cultivator.

Have you been defeated, just like that??

Have your plans of the last million years collapsed that easily?

I don’t believe it!

The others might not know you well enough, but I do! Calamity major world was so close to Skyward major world that I know full well the depths of your capabilities.

The Order master had been extremely formidable back in the day when he built the nine layers of the chaos, but he’d avoided the four regions in which Skyward resided. When someone as precise, formidable, and strict as Order had refrained from extending his enterprise into the four regions... it was easy to imagine how much he was wary of Skyward.

After his death, Skyward became the greatest in the chaos and the foremost powerhouse.

Would he be so easily stymied by a few juniors?

“Calamity...” Skyward shook his head. “No amount of plans will work without time...”

“You’re lying!” Calamity shouted and looked at those around them. “What are we hesitating for, they’re not giving us a way out! Time is gone and these people keep hiding their true intentions. They think we’re nutrition for them, so let’s just put everything on the line!

“All of us became ninth ranks in our time, so what are we afraid of?! If no one’s letting us have a chance to live, then we’ll destroy the chaos and the source of the universe!

“We can all die together! All plans and schemes will be revealed when the chaos shatters! Are any of you willing to charge at my side?!”

Some people’s eyes darted around and other sighed. Too much despair flooded a lot of hearts.

“It’s true. The blockade of a million years did nothing to stop the steady depletion of our spirit and lifespan. At this rate, it’s only a matter of time before we die!

“Disorder and Five Elements were one step ahead of us. These people are nibbling away at us bit by bit. Since things have reached this point, Calamity, let us all die together!” One of the ninth ranks stepped forward with a presence that shook the worlds. He was strong to begin with, but suddenly flared with energy that was thirty percent stronger!

Skyward frowned slightly.

The look in the ninth rank’s eyes was sternly aloof. Life and death qi wafted within his body—it was the dao master of life and death.

“What are we afraid of anymore?” He looked around with a sneer. “We should ignite our spirit in battle today because we should not let these cretin benefit at our expense! Since we know nothing of what they have planned and are floundering in the dark, then let us kill them all!

“Whether it’s Skyward or Li Hao, Fang Ping or Su Yu, all of them can die!”

A jolt traveled through the crowd. Even Calamity started. Life Death... was really burning his spirit!

The dao master of life and death had completely lost hope. He leered and vanished, speeding for Su Yu’s group.

“Hold them off for me, Calamity!” he called back. “I’m going to kill that person and take back my dao of death. No one here today will be leaving that easily!”

The master of dead spirits behind Su Yu frowned and made his move!

Heavens collapsed and earth shattered amid giant rumbles. The master of dead spirits was a formidable character at more than forty daos. If converted to unordered daos, he would be the equivalent of six or seven thousand daos.

However, he faced a ninth rank who was burning his spirit! He was so incredibly strong!

“Kill them!” Su Yu snapped.

Books materialized and countless supernatural characters filled the void. These people wanted to start with him!

They’d thought that shattering time would end the ambitions of the ninth ranks. Who would’ve thought it’d make them go berserk instead and want to kill everyone!

Anther ninth rank materialized, burning their spirit and heading for the Human King.

“Yin Yang!” Fang Ping grinned at the person charging him. It was the dao master of yin and yang!

Swiftly approaching, the ninth rank looked calmly at him. “Killing you guys and seizing New Martial’s yin and yang might extend my life and recover a bit of spirit! All of us have experienced life and death to make it to ninth rank back in the day. It’s just that we have become afraid of death in our old age!

“We’ve pinned our hopes on time, thinking that it would grant us immortality and help us recover to our peak...”

It’d all been for naught in the end!

In that case, it was time to give up on these delusional daydreams.

Their spirit was dissipating, so they started acting wildly with the expectation of death.

Everything might go down in flames today if this continued.

There were also a ninth rank that sped for Yuan Shuo. “You relied on your disciple’s despicable plan to kill Five Elements! You had to depend on your disciple to make it to eighth rank and are a false ninth rank!

“How are you worthy of being on the same footing as us?! Since Li Hao won’t show himself, we’ll kill you instead! Let’s see how he stays hidden then!”

“Who are you talking about?!” Yuan Shuo cursed.

“Trash is trash! All of us made it to ninth rank through our own efforts, through each blow and block. How did you do it?!” The other spoke extremely dismissively as light and darkness erupted at the same time. “You are just an ant, Yuan Shuo! It is your honor for me to kill you. I’ll kill Li Hao too when he finally comes out!”

With that, he attacked!

Silver Moon braves appeared behind Yuan Shuo, all of them rushing toward Yuan Shuo with solemn looks on his faces. No one fathomed that it would be the ninth ranks raging out of control first!

“Kill Chaos Sky and size his spirit!” Several more ninth ranks rushed Chaos Sky.

Chaos Sky’s presence billowed as he cursed under his breath. This was incredibly difficult. These ninth ranks had lost their mind after the demise of time because they were running out of life. It was a thorny problem that they insisted on tangling with him.

“Li Hao has recovered his strength and lurks in the shadows!” he yelled. “He must have other schemes up his sleeves! It would only benefit him if you guys clash with us...

“Skyward is very strong and his world has always been there. He, too, must be plotting something! It won’t be you guys benefitting in the end, even if you guys kill us all!”

All he wanted to do was to muddle the waters now. Since they were all crazy, he would pull them all down together!

Let’s see who can make it to the end.

Some ninth ranks had appeared near the Skyward master as well. No one said a word and no one made a move.

They simply looked silently at him until one person finally said, “Brother Skyward, we trusted you that year and entered the depths of the chaos with you. We put down roots in chaos dao and sealed ourselves away for a million years!

“And now... the time that you have waited for has dispersed. We want an explanation!”

“An explanation?” Skyward said softly. “What kind of explanation do you want?”

“Since time has fully dispersed and none of us have a future, you are the strongest and have the most spirit out of us all.” The leading ninth rank was very calm. “Why not... share some of it with us!

“You’ve already lived two million years and refuse to take action. You’ve been fobbing us off all along. Why not share it with us? We’ll help you accomplish your grand enterprise!”

“You guys... want to kill me?” Skyward couldn’t help but laugh. Share spirit with them?

That would come about through killing him!

These guys really had gone mad.

“It’s Brother Skyward who won’t give us a way out!”

“Do you really think we’re all idiots? We simply felt that the appearance of time really could stabilize the chaos. We turned a blind eye to whatever motives you had in mind, but you’ve quashed our hope!”

“Do you know what despair feels like?!” The ninth ranks grew increasingly worked up.

We don’t care what you’re plotting, we kept you company for a million years in seclusion!

But you remain so composed in the absence of time and don’t give us any explanation. Does your source of confidence come from what Calamity said, that your spirit has always been very strong?!

“We invite Brother Skyward to be on his way!” The leader ignited his spirit and rushed Skyward. The other ninth ranks followed suit!
