Chapter 267: The Spirit Sword Sect and Emperor’s Killing Intent
Silas sat in his high-security corporate VR capsule, physically paralyzed by the administrative crystal fused to his spine, but digitally awake.
The Guild Master of Vanguard’s Legacy, currently operating under his Enforcer alias, was staring at a massive, floating array of holographic screens inside his private, instanced administrative sandbox.
He didn’t have an army anymore. He didn’t have the funds to buy mercenaries.
He was obsessively monitoring the public forums.
The Zenith Protocol’s global API was currently flooded with data regarding Aegis Vanguard. The player base wasn’t just talking about Dante’s impossible damage caps or his indestructible guildhall. They were organizing. They were charting trade routes specifically designed to bypass Vanguard’s Legacy territories, and they were actively funneling resources into Sera’s Astral Emporium.
“They are too strong,” Silas whispered, his voice echoing in the empty, dark room. “I can’t fight them in the open world. They have the 10% EXP buff. They have the Celestial pets. They have the numbers.”
He swiped a hand through a holographic forum post detailing Mei’s frying pan mechanics.
“If I attack the Citadel, his automated defenses will obliterate my remaining loyalists,” Silas calculated frantically, his eyes darting across the data. “If I try to gank his squad, he’ll drop a black hole on my head. I need something that ignores his system-breaking anomalies. Something that isn’t bound by the standard combat engine.”
Silas opened a highly classified, heavily encrypted sub-directory within his Enforcer privileges.
He didn’t look at player data. He looked at the localized NPC lore factions.
He needed an entity that possessed massive, overwhelming cosmic weight, and more importantly, a faction that operated on absolute, hard-coded systemic grudges.
His eyes landed on a specific, high-tier sect located within the inner walls of Aethelgardia.
[Faction Profile: The Spirit Sword Sect]
[Leader: Grandmaster Jian-Yu]
[Level: 80 (Celestial)]
[Status: Highly Aggressive. Protective of Sect Disciples.]
Silas remembered the data logs from the first week of the cycle.
Aurelius, the top-100 rogue player who had aggressively challenged Dante to a duel in the capital plaza, wasn’t just an independent mercenary. Aurelius had spent hundreds of hours completing tedious, lore-heavy fetch quests to officially become a recognized inner disciple of the Spirit Sword Sect.
And Dante had casually, effortlessly executed Aurelius in front of the entire city.
Silas smiled. It was a cold, incredibly desperate expression.
He didn’t need to hire assassins. He just needed to point a grieving, heavily armed NPC faction in the right direction.
Silas tapped the interface, drafting an anonymous, highly encrypted message containing Dante’s last known localized coordinates, his detailed combat logs, and a highly exaggerated account of how Dante had mocked the Spirit Sword Sect’s martial arts during the duel.
He routed the message directly into the Grandmaster’s localized NPC mailbox.

High above the bustling, pristine streets of Aethelgardia, inside the sprawling, heavily fortified compound of the Spirit Sword Sect.
Grandmaster Jian-Yu sat cross-legged on a polished wooden mat, his long white beard resting against his simple, gray robes. He didn’t look like a Level 80 Celestial entity. He looked like a frail, ancient scholar.
But the air around him hummed with an intense, incredibly sharp localized pressure.
A disciple rushed into the meditation room, bowing frantically, holding a glowing digital parchment.
“Grandmaster,” the disciple gasped, out of breath. “We received an anonymous data packet. It concerns your primary disciple, Aurelius. It contains the combat logs of his execution.”
Jian-Yu didn’t move. He simply extended two fingers.
The glowing parchment floated out of the disciple’s hands and hovered directly in front of the Grandmaster’s face.
Jian-Yu read the logs. He watched the attached, blurry video file of Dante effortlessly dodging Aurelius’s [Absolute Dodge] skill and driving a massive black sword through the rogue’s chest. He read the attached, fabricated quotes of Dante mocking the Sect’s techniques.
The ancient NPC slowly closed his eyes.
The air in the meditation room didn’t just grow heavy. It actively sharpened. Dozens of practice swords resting on the wooden racks violently shattered, completely unable to withstand the sudden, overwhelming spike in the Grandmaster’s localized cosmic weight.
“This Outworlder,” Jian-Yu spoke, his voice incredibly soft, yet carrying a terrifying, dual-layered resonance. “He believes raw stats and a cursed blade grant him the authority to humiliate my lineage.”
The Grandmaster stood up.
“Assemble the elite formation,” Jian-Yu ordered the trembling disciple. “We march on the anomaly.”
“Grandmaster,” the disciple hesitated, terrified of the old man’s aura. “The Outworlder is currently heavily protected. He is the Guild Master of Aegis Vanguard. And… he carries the [Zenith Epaulet]. He is recognized by the system as a localized Champion. If we strike him down within the city walls, we risk angering the Emperor.”
Jian-Yu paused.
The disciple was right. The Zenith Protocol governed NPC interactions strictly. If a localized faction executed a recognized system Champion without formal authorization, the overarching administrative AI—and the Emperor of the Veridian Alliance—would violently intervene to maintain server stability.
“Then we will acquire the authorization,” Jian-Yu stated flatly.
The Grandmaster didn’t use a localized transit portal. He blurred, utilizing a high-tier movement skill to instantly cross the capital city, materializing directly in front of the massive golden gates of the Royal Palace.
The Imperial Guards didn’t try to stop him. They recognized the cosmic weight of a Level 80 Celestial entity.
Jian-Yu marched through the grand hall, ignoring the lavish red banners, and stopped at the base of the massive diamond throne.
The Emperor of the Veridian Alliance sat on his gear-driven throne, reviewing a massive, glowing holographic map of the continent.
“Grandmaster Jian-Yu,” the Emperor boomed, his voice carrying the standard, majestic echo. “It is rare for the Spirit Sword Sect to leave their mountain. What brings you to my court?”
“An Outworlder named Dan,” Jian-Yu said, skipping the formal pleasantries entirely. “He executed my top disciple in the central plaza. He mocked my localized martial arts. I request imperial authorization to hunt him down and severe his connection to the server.”
The Emperor didn’t immediately answer.
The massive NPC leaned back in his throne, his glowing artificial eyes narrowing slightly.
The Emperor wasn’t just a quest-giver. He was a highly advanced dynamic AI tasked with maintaining the absolute systemic balance of the Veridian Alliance. And currently, the balance was completely shattered.
Dante had cleared the Abyss. He had established a Level 5 Citadel on day one. He had routed a hundred-thousand-man army, dropped a black hole on a siege battalion, and possessed a primordial weapon that actively ignored defense parameters.
Dante was too strong. He was accumulating too much localized cosmic weight.
If Aegis Vanguard continued to grow at this exponential rate, they wouldn’t just be the top player guild. They would eventually possess the military infrastructure and raw stats to actively challenge the NPC factions for control of the capital city itself.
The Emperor feared the anomaly.
But he couldn’t act directly. Dante wore the [Zenith Epaulet]. If the Emperor ordered the Imperial Guards to execute the ‘Savior of Ironhold’, the massive player population currently worshipping Dante would likely riot, causing unprecedented localized systemic instability.
The Emperor needed an executioner who wasn’t officially tied to the crown.
He looked down at the furious Grandmaster.
“The Outworlder known as Dan is a recognized Champion of the system,” the Emperor stated smoothly, playing the political game perfectly. “I cannot explicitly order his execution. He has broken no localized municipal laws.”
Jian-Yu gripped the hilt of his sword, his aura flaring aggressively. “You protect a murderer?”
“I protect the stability of the realm,” the Emperor countered, his voice dropping into a low, serious register. “However… the system dictates that personal grievances and sect rivalries fall outside of imperial jurisdiction.”
The Emperor leaned forward, his glowing eyes locking onto the Grandmaster.
“If the Spirit Sword Sect were to mobilize an elite squad to seek satisfaction for a fallen disciple,” the Emperor murmured quietly, “the Imperial Guard would be too busy managing the localized trade routes to intervene. We would look the other way. Provided, of course, that the execution occurs outside the capital’s inner walls to prevent civilian casualties.”
Jian-Yu’s eyes widened slightly, instantly understanding the tacit approval. The Emperor was giving him a blank check to hunt Dante in the open world.
“Understood,” Jian-Yu bowed deeply, a cold, predatory smile spreading across his ancient face. “The anomaly will not return to the city.”
The Grandmaster turned and blurred out of the throne room, eager to mobilize his most lethal disciples.
The Emperor watched him leave, his artificial fingers drumming a slow, methodical rhythm against the armrest of his diamond throne.
“The system always corrects its errors,” the Emperor whispered to the empty hall.

Back in the real-world luxury of the Elysium Spire, Dante sat at the massive dining table, completely unaware of the massive NPC manhunt currently being organized against his avatar.
He was busy eating his third massive plate of synthetic steak, his enhanced real-world metabolism burning through the calories at a terrifying pace.
Lila was showing Nyx a video on her datapad, laughing hysterically at Casanova’s flamboyant victory poses during the battle of Radiant Lake. Sera was quietly reviewing the massive influx of guild applications, meticulously filtering out any players with questionable localized combat logs.
Dante finished his steak, setting the fork down.
He looked out the floor-to-ceiling windows, staring out over the neon-lit skyline of Veridia.
He felt a deep, profound sense of focused calm.
He had the stats. He had the guild. He had the real-world funds to secure his safety.
“Dante,” Sera said, looking up from her datapad. “I just received an automated ping from Master Sun’s Antiquities in Aethelgardia. He finished processing the massive, localized backlog of endgame gear we dropped off yesterday. He says there is an item in the vault that requires your immediate, personal attention.”
Dante turned away from the window.
Master Sun didn’t send urgent pings for standard Gold-tier armor or basic crafting materials. If the premier appraiser of the capital city wanted him to look at something personally, it meant the item possessed system-breaking lore implications.
“I’ll log in and check it out,” Dante said, standing up from the table.
“Be careful,” Nyx warned, adjusting her dark glasses. “The forums are quiet right now. Too quiet. Silas is plotting something, and I don’t like the silence.”
“Let him plot,” Dante smiled, a cold, confident expression. “I’ve got a new sword to test.”
He walked back to his high-security penthouse, ready to dive back into the Zenith Protocol.
