Chapter 839: Chapter 836 War Approaches

"Tenth place, Carlo; ninth place, Edri; eighth place, Fred; seventh place, Beson; sixth..." The teacher hosting the event took the list of the top ten from Helen and read the names aloud with a smile.

"Hahaha, that’s my kid! He got sixth place, that’s amazing!"

"He really didn’t disappoint me. Fourth place isn’t bad either. I’ll take you to eat pizza when we get back!"

"What a shame, why didn’t my kid win a prize? Looks like I’ll have to give him a good ’reward’ when we get home."

"..."

The adults below the stage began discussing among themselves; some were overjoyed, while others were disappointed.

"I just received some great news. The top three in today’s recitation contest will receive a piece of soap brought by the City Lord himself. This soap is incredible, vastly superior to the Pen Horn..." The hosting teacher held up a wooden box and hyped it up vigorously.

"Soap? There’s actually such a magical item, even better than Pen Horns? I wonder if it’s sold in the city; I have to buy some to try."

"If the City Lord says it’s good, it definitely won’t be bad. If it’s for sale, I absolutely must buy it and try it out."

"..."

The nobles in the audience began discussing it. They were all highly curious about this soap, especially the nobles residing in Sedona City, who had already grown accustomed to taking daily baths.

"The City Lord mentioned that a soap shop might open in the future, so everyone can look forward to that," The host paused for a moment before shouting, "Now, will the top ten students whose names were just called please come up to the stage to receive your awards!"

The students whose names were called stepped onto the stage one by one, their faces beaming with smiles. They stood in a row, and Helen personally went up to present them with their awards, handing out small linen bags filled with coins.

"In the future, the recitation contest will be held once every semester, and the rewards will remain the same. Those who didn’t make the top ten this time, go back and continue working hard, and strive for the top ten next time," Helen gave a brief speech before stepping off the stage.

"My Lord, how did I do?" Helen approached Lucas, her nervous heart finally settling down. This was her first time speaking in front of so many people.

"You did very well," Lucas praised without hesitation.

"You spoke wonderfully, Helen," Nicole gave Helen a thumbs up.

"Hehe..." Helen smiled bashfully, and then went to help the other teachers organize the students’ exit.

Lucas and the others boarded the carriage and returned to the castle. Mina followed Lucas back to the study, as there were still government affairs to handle, while Nicole headed to the laboratory, intending to test if peanut oil could serve as a substitute for lard.

Meanwhile, in Yalin City, located in the central eastern region of the Siacan Kingdom.

Inside the city’s castle, Greena sat in the seat of honor in the council hall. Below him sat the Red Overseer of the Black Iris, some nobles who supported him, and Silas, the representative sent by the pirates.

"I am sure you all know why I have called you here today," Greena stated directly, a ruthless glint in his eyes.

"If Your Highness has something to say, speak plainly," Silas curled his lip and spoke brashly.

"You..." The Head Knight was about to reprimand him but was stopped by Greena.

Greena waved his hand, holding back his temper. Right now, he desperately needed the pirates’ help.

"We have received news that the knight battalion dispatched by Lucia has already arrived at Genaro City," The Red Overseer said calmly.

Genaro City was a large city about a two-day journey from Yalin City by fast horse. There were no other cities or villages between the two, only a stretch of wasteland and mountains.

"There are a total of four thousand knights," The Head Knight added, a grave look in his eyes.

Given Lucia’s financial resources, these four thousand knights were undoubtedly exceptionally well-equipped and possessed the sturdiest warhorses.

"Four thousand knights? That many people?" Silas’s eyes widened in sheer shock.

"That is the reality. Some of these knights were conscripted from those nobles," The Red Overseer said deeply.

"Even if we add everyone on our side together, we barely have over four thousand men. Some don’t even have warhorses, and we barely have enough weapons to go around," Silas frowned.

He hadn’t expected Lucia to be so ruthless, directly sending four thousand knights. This made him wonder if he should reconsider his cooperation with the Second Prince.

"We are currently trying to resolve the warhorse issue. We originally intended to buy some from Bolt, but who would have known that his tribe had already been occupied by the beastkin," A dark gloom settled in the Red Overseer’s eyes.

The first time, Bolt had refused to sell warhorses. They originally planned to return and renegotiate, but upon their second visit, they learned that Bolt’s territory had been taken over by the beastkin.

"Those lowly beastkin keep ruining my plans time and time again," Greena said coldly. If he didn’t have to face the First Prince right now, he would have mobilized his troops to directly assault the beastkin’s territory.

"When all is said and done, the warhorse issue is still unresolved," Silas’s expression darkened further, and he began to doubt the promises the Red Overseer had made earlier.

Titles of nobility and a city were completely useless unless the other party successfully claimed the throne; otherwise, it was all empty talk.

"Could we use draft horses as a substitute?" Greena suddenly asked.

The Head Knight, Silas, and the Red Overseer all turned to stare at the Second Prince, looking at him as if he was an idiot.

They didn’t understand how the Second Prince’s brain worked to come up with such a terrible idea. Although draft horses and warhorses were both horses, they were completely incomparable.

While draft horses had slightly better endurance than warhorses, they lacked the speed, explosive power, and agility of a warhorse. Sending untrained draft horses onto the battlefield was nothing short of suicide; whether fleeing or pursuing, they would easily be overtaken by warhorses.

"..." Seeing everyone’s gazes, Greena knew what he said was wrong, but he truly had no other options at the moment.

The Red Overseer kept a dark face, feeling increasingly pessimistic about Greena’s prospects.

"Everyone, we have no way out now. We must begin preparing for battle. In three days at most, Lucia will likely make his move again. When that time comes, it will be the final showdown," The Head Knight said sternly.

Hesitation flickered in Silas’s eyes. The disparity between the two sides was immense. If a war broke out, there was a seventy percent chance they would lose.

"There is no chance of backing out now. Don’t forget whose territory you are standing in," The Red Overseer turned and stared at Silas, catching the hesitation in his eyes.

Silas’s face turned incredibly ugly. This was a blatant threat.

Obviously, this was Yalin City, the Second Prince’s territory. If he went back on his word, he probably wouldn’t even be able to make it out of the city gates.
