Chapter 2381: Chapter 2381: The Bridge in the Mist

Shard held the sword and thrust forward, the longsword imbued with moonlight precisely pierced into the undead’s heart position. But Shard immediately discovered that the spirit’s chest had turned into a mass of light, allowing the [Time Flute] to pass through, the moonlight did not cause any harm to her.

"Trait 2: The spiritual body can partially turn into light to evade light-based damage, it’s unclear whether it can achieve full light transformation. Of course, since this sword doesn’t have a special effect on the undead, if it were another sword, even if she turned to light to evade, it would not be unscathed."

As Miss Belindel spoke, the undead bride who had been slowed in motion spun again and disappeared into the mist.

All four ladies heard Shard’s voice speaking:

"This sword uses too much spirit when manipulating time, doesn’t it?"

"After all, it’s manipulating time, and this is an Angel-Level relic."

Miss Sylvia said, then looked toward the dense fog to Shard’s left, which was located east of this rundown Belindel Estate.

The reappearing undead bride did not spin to attack again, she overlapped the rabbit doll and the axe in the mist, then posed her hands in a strange gesture.

"What’s she doing?"

The sound of giggling laughter had stopped by now, and as the undead raised both arms, those faint abnormal lights attached to her body all gathered toward the two items in her hands.

Shard could have intervened immediately to interrupt her, but just as he didn’t use techniques like the [Great Sin Chains] earlier, he wanted to see what other abilities this special undead possessed, so he waited for her to show her move.

The blood-stained axe and the worn-out doll turned into a dazzling ball of light, and after a chilling scream from the undead bride, they suddenly aimed at Shard.

The violent light transformed into a stream of light in the next second, rushing toward Shard’s direction, then collided with the shield around Shard which shattered golden streams of light, scattering light particles into the dense mist.

Theoretically, as long as it isn’t broken in one blow, the [Heaton Seal] can defend against almost any attack before Shard’s spirit is exhausted. But this time, the golden streams of light that touched those abnormal lights were gradually dyed silver-white.

Although the defensive effect of the [Heaton Seal] did not change, this indicated that this type of energy attack could penetrate defenses like the "Heaton Seal."

"Trait 3: Can harness abnormal light to perform energy attacks. This shouldn’t be an innate ability of the undead, the talent of the soul is related to experiences in life, but her soul appearance doesn’t look like it can release energy."

Miss Belindel continued to summarize, while Sister Delphine’s indifferent voice also appeared in the mist:

"Indeed it isn’t the power of the soul itself."

The Blue Dragon Girl frowned slightly:

"Knight, end the battle. She is in a desperate struggle, she likely doesn’t have the power to show more traits afterward."

"Understood."

Shard said, then suddenly retreated backward and vanished, reappearing in the mist 20 meters behind. The dazzling white light immediately pursued, but with his hands freed, Shard pushed off the ground with his feet, and a spinning phantom of the star river appeared behind him, the [Time Flute] pointed forward with a chirping clear flute sound.

"Principle of Return! (Silently mentioned)"

Upon touching the sword tip, the white light seemed to be absorbed onto it, and as Shard turned in mid-air, the spinning white light left a halo-like afterimage around him, then transformed into a more violent energy light cannon, returning along the original path toward the "bride."

Miss Isabella mentioned when introducing the [Principle of Return], if this arcane technique is used to return a continuous light cannon, the consumption will be much greater than returning a detached energy attack, so it’s better to find a way to dodge it.

But this time the "bride" faced was not strong, so as the white light pillar returned, the violent energy directly pierced through that abnormal spiritual body, completely destroying her spiritual body from the neck down and above the waist.

With a scream, the remnants of the soul dissipated into the mist during its fall, leaving only the tattered rabbit doll falling to the ground, surrounded by spiritual body dust and colorful glowing diamond-shaped crystal chips... which are the materials left after "Bulb Man" dies in the real world, indicating similarities between the two types of monsters.

And her final sound was an understandable lament:

"If only back then, I could have seen my own heart clearly."

Miss Sylvia waved her hand, and the rabbit doll flew into her hand. After examining it carefully, she tossed it to Shard to keep temporarily:

"After a little processing, it’s a nice alchemical weapon. Let your Little Princess have it, but don’t give her too many relics."

Shard then turned this "toy" into a smaller toy and put it away.

Miss Belindel, walking out of the mist with the others, asked a little puzzled:

"The move you used last just now... why does it look a bit familiar?"

Shard himself was probing whether the Arcane Technique in his hands, which differed significantly from the original "Principle of Return," would still be recognized, so he wasn’t surprised:

"Is that so? But the first time I turned into a Dragon, didn’t I use this trick to repel the sky thunder over the sea outside the dock?"

"At that time, I only noticed you turning into a Dragon... I didn’t feel anything then, but now it feels increasingly familiar."

The Great Witch of Destiny furrowed her brow, and Shard stood there, saying nothing. The Blue Dragon Girl knew nothing, so she naturally remained silent, and Miss Sylvia didn’t link it to His Excellency the Speaker, thus she hesitated while waiting for Miss Belindel to recall.

But Sister Delphine suddenly spoke:

"Shard once browsed the Order’s library; he probably read the Chapters about mirror reflection in ’Multiverse Mirror: Time and Silver Mirror.’

"Oh, is that so."

Miss Belindel suddenly understood and then praised Shard with a smile:

"Your talent is really impressive; the trick just now had some semblance to His Excellency the Speaker."

Shard didn’t actually remember reading that book, but still nodded to admit it.

Of course, he learned much later that Miss Adel Isabella flipped through the Order’s ’Multiverse Mirror: Time and Silver Mirror’ before she created the "Principle of Return."

"Edge of Life and Death," although a reflection formed by the living world, is not consistent internally. When Shard was in Midshire Fort, he knew that in this foggy gray-white world, perhaps stepping forward could take him from the city’s edge to the city center’s edge.

This abnormal spatial peculiarity, under Sister Delphine’s guidance, Miss Belindel’s divination, and Miss Sylvia’s spatial positioning, instead became a convenient condition for their team’s progress.

Sister Delphine sensed the core of agitation in this "Edge of Life and Death," and the more they advanced in the fog towards that direction, the more Shard felt the emblem on his chest trembling slightly.

The five moved quickly, and along the way, all the Undead encountered turned into white dust scattered in the mist under Sister Delphine’s "gaze," without even a chance to leave "last words."

The silver eyepiece reflected the mist’s light; the silent nun’s usage of the Power of Death was becoming increasingly refined.

After setting off, they all tacitly didn’t speak again, and when they left the rundown Belindel Estate, seventeen minutes later, a fierce Dragon Roar in the dense fog finally dispelled the brief tranquility.

"We’re close."

Sister Delphine said softly, while the Countess, most familiar with Moon Bay, pulled Shard’s sleeve, almost sticking close to him, cautiously observing around to recognize their current location:

"We’re already near the Lower District of South City; the Taton River is just ahead."

The Bone Dragon swiftly flew over their heads in the fog, while the chaotic tide of Spirits in the distance seemed to be a Thirteen-Ring Sorcerer using very strong Arcane Technique. Yet, all traces of it were soon swallowed by the white fog symbolizing Death.

As they pressed onwards, the destination ahead became very clear:

"The not yet completed Moon Bay Bridge!"

The Countess affirmed firmly, tightly pulling Shard’s sleeve:

"Why would it be in this place? When the location for Moon Bay Bridge was initially chosen, I made the final decision. I’ve confirmed many times through divination that there’s absolutely no special aspect here, so why does this place react in the Edge of Life and Death, becoming the core location of the anomaly?"

"If not due to coincidence, then perhaps it’s because of human reasons."

Though the Moon Bay Bridge is nearing completion, this two-tiered bridge, which can raise the lower level when large ships pass, has not yet joined.

But in this gray-white world, when Shard and the ladies reached the bridge’s entrance and barely saw the bridge’s entirety, they found the "Moon Bay Bridge" here unexpectedly in a completely completed state:

"So, what exactly does the reflection from the Edge of Life and Death indicate?"

Going to the upper layer of Moon Bay Bridge requires stairs or taking an elevator, while the lower layer connects directly to the street for walking or carriage accompaniment. When the team reached the entrance of the bridge’s lower level, there wasn’t a vacant presence.

And those who had arrived here in advance, Shard unexpectedly knew.

The "Sword of the Wind King," with its green glow, slashed open the densely packed Light Bullets as John Flynn frowned in the front, a graceful middle-aged man dressed like clergy at his back casting spells to restore his state, a young woman holding a Magic Wand weaving a spell to shield dead angles, and a muscular man with a Spiked Mace stood behind the three, focusing intently on the vision behind the group.

The muscular man was the first to notice the group emerging from the dense fog, but upon seeing Shard, who was dressed the same as before, the man recognized him as an acquaintance without being overly wary.
