Chapter 223: Chapter 223: A Kindhearted Person

Just then, Hua Buwan and the Ling family finally managed to find a spot that looked decent enough.

However, before they could even set down their belongings, a voice rang out from beside them. "Hey, hey, hey! This spot is already taken. If you want to set up a stall, you can head over to the opposite side. There are still two empty spaces over there."

"Alright, thank you so much, beautiful lady!" Hua Buwan replied without a second of hesitation. "It’s our first time here today, so we aren’t quite familiar with the rules. Thank goodness you were kind enough to tell us. You’re too sweet! Thanks again. We’ll head over right now.

"We’ll chat when you’re free, beautiful lady. We’ll leave you to your business."

With that, the group turned and walked toward the opposite side.

The Ling family followed closely beside Hua Buwan, nodding repeatedly and flashing friendly smiles at the woman from the neighboring stall in gratitude for her warning.

The woman carefully sized up the group before her. She noticed their deeply tanned skin, making it obvious they were locals who had lived by the sea for a long time. Judging by their appearances, they seemed to be one large family, with both elderly members and young children among them.

What pleased her most was that this family never stopped smiling at her. The young woman leading the way, in particular, kept calling her "beautiful lady" left and right. The sweet-talking left the vendor absolutely overjoyed, making her feel as light as a feather, as if her feet were about to float right off the ground.

She gently touched her cheeks, which were no longer smooth and delicate, lamenting how time spared no one. She sighed inwardly; the youthful, vibrant girl she once was felt like a distant memory. Now, well into her thirties, her days were consumed by household chores and farm work while her children ran and played around her.

Although the exhausting grind of daily life had slowly turned her into what people called a haggard housewife, she had always maintained a kind and warm heart. Whether it was a neighbor or a stranger, she never hesitated to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Because of this, she never took offense when others addressed her simply as "ma’am." And whenever she heard herself called Water Buffalo’s Mother or Fugui’s wife, she would just smile gently and accept it gladly.

Yet, in the dead of night, she would sometimes fall into deep thought. She even began to wonder if she still remembered the woman she used to be—the one who had her own complete name. The days when people genuinely praised her as a "beautiful lady" seemed completely out of reach. How could someone like her today still be worthy of such a lovely title?

Thinking of this, the woman couldn’t help but cover her face in slight embarrassment.

At that moment, Hua Buwan smiled and struck up a brief conversation, thanking her again for her warmth.

The woman quickly waved her hand. "No need to be so polite! It’s just a small thing. If there’s ever anything you don’t understand in the future, just ask me."

Hua Buwan nodded repeatedly, assuring the woman that she would definitely seek her guidance from now on.
