Chapter 227: Chapter 227: Investment

Hua Buwan paused for a moment, then raised her voice and continued, "These aren’t just any ordinary rain boots! They are made of a special material that is incredibly sturdy and durable. You could wear them for years without them wearing out! Think about it—you only need to spend a mere few coins to buy a pair for beachcombing, and you won’t have to spend money on shoes for almost the entire next year! Isn’t that an absolute steal? Deals like this don’t come around every day, so don’t miss out!"

Seeing a few people in the crowd who seemed tempted but hesitant, Hua Buwan quickly added, "If any of you folks don’t have enough money on you, that’s completely fine! Our rain boots can also be acquired through bartering! What is bartering? Simply put, you don’t have to pay money; just bring whatever items you currently have on hand to exchange for the boots! For example, everyday items like a set of bowls and chopsticks, or an earthen jug—if I think they are of equal value, we have a deal! How about that? Isn’t that accommodating?"

Finally, Hua Buwan looked around and emphasized once again, "But I must remind you all, the quantity of rain boots at my stall is limited. This is all we have, and once they’re sold out, they’re truly gone! So everyone better grab this opportunity quickly and buy them early, lest you miss out and regret it!"

Hearing Hua Buwan’s words, the crowd that had been whispering in a circle instantly quieted down. For a brief moment, everyone froze in place as if struck by an Immobilization Spell.

Immediately after, a clamor of voices surged like a rising tide.

Someone couldn’t wait to ask, "Can unwanted bowls and chopsticks really be traded? What about an earthen pot with a chipped corner, will that work?"

Another person quickly chimed in, "I have an unused vase at home, but it’s a bit too small. I wonder if I can trade it for something?"

Then another person shouted, "There’s an ancestral fishing net hanging on my wall. Although it’s very tattered and definitely can’t be used for fishing anymore, taking it to trade for a pair of rain boots shouldn’t be a problem, right?"

All at once, a relentless barrage of questions erupted from the crowd. Those who hadn’t spoken yet pricked up their ears, anxiously waiting for Hua Buwan’s answer.

Faced with the crowd’s chaotic questioning, Hua Buwan was actually well-prepared. She knew full well their doubts. If she couldn’t dispel them promptly, this barter event would likely struggle to proceed smoothly.

Taking a deep breath, she raised her voice and said, "Fellow villagers, please calm down! Let me explain. The reason I am willing to trade useful goods for those seemingly useless items in your hands is not because I’m foolish or anything like that.

"It’s because this merchant from Persia has a special fondness for our local antiques and old knickknacks. He loves displaying these things in his home as decorations.

"To be honest, the mindset of folks from Persia is indeed a bit strange, and we might not be able to understand it right away. But regardless, since they are willing to trade practical goods for what we consider ’junk,’ isn’t that a guaranteed, zero-risk bargain for us?"

The Ling Family standing nearby nodded in agreement, chiming in to support Hua Buwan’s words.

The surrounding people felt her explanation made perfect sense. Casting their doubts aside, they threw themselves back into a frenzied shopping spree.
