Chapter 228: With Ease
Chapter 228: Chapter 228: With Ease
"Oh no! I need to hurry back and grab some things to trade. If I’m too late, I’ll miss out!" The speaker’s face was fraught with anxiety as he turned on his heel, ready to sprint home.
"Wait for me! I need to fetch some things too," another person chimed in, rushing to follow him.
Meanwhile, those in the crowd with tighter budgets began whispering among themselves. "Trading in old items is definitely the best deal. I can’t bear to part with the few copper coins I have on me."
Though they all shared this sentiment, hesitation crept in when they remembered they lived in villages far from town. A round trip would take a considerable amount of time, and they would have to pay the town entrance fee all over again. Such a hassle was simply too much to bear.
Just then, sharp-eyed onlookers noticed that quite a few people had already hurried off. Thrilled by the sudden drop in competition, they didn’t hesitate to push their way to the front, quickly digging into their pockets for cash to buy the rain boots. They congratulated themselves, thinking, "Haha, it’s great that so many people left! With them gone, our chances of getting a pair of rain boots just went way up!"
On the other side of the stall, the rain boots Hua Buwan had carefully selected came in a wide variety of sizes, with plenty of the most common ones in stock. Furthermore, the boots were divided into two distinct styles: plain and patterned. Customers who preferred a simple, elegant look gravitated toward the plain boots, which were dirt-resistant and understated. Meanwhile, those who liked a bit of flair and chased the latest trends opted for the patterned variety.
At this moment, the crowd’s enthusiasm was absolutely explosive! Everyone’s eyes were glued to the rain boots; they didn’t cast a single glance at the other items on display.
Faced with this frenzy, Hua Buwan showed no signs of anxiety. She reasoned that it was perfectly fine to take her time selling them piece by piece, as her inventory was quite limited anyway. Moreover, by setting a single, uniform price for each category of goods, she ensured that Xu Panqing and Ling Yunge would have an easy time helping her without getting confused.
For the adult rain boots, a purchase of two pairs cost exactly fifteen cents. The children’s sizes were slightly cheaper, with two pairs going for a mere ten cents. Notably, she implemented a rule requiring a minimum purchase of two pairs per transaction. If someone only wanted one pair, they were welcome to split the cost with another customer who had the same need. Hua Buwan didn’t interfere with this practice; she simply insisted on selling her goods in pairs.
Fortunately, the vast majority of customers who decided to buy opted for two pairs right off the bat. Very few bothered trying to buy just one, which saved the trio a significant amount of unnecessary hassle.
As the transactions flowed steadily, Hua Buwan methodically took charge of collecting the money, while Xu Panqing and Ling Yunge focused intently on picking out and handing over the correct sizes to the customers crowding around them. With everyone fulfilling their designated roles and working in close coordination, the operation went smoothly. Their efficiency skyrocketed, and their teamwork became increasingly seamless and effortless.
