Chapter 231: Chapter 231: Calling for Backup

Returning to the stone house, Hua Buwan split the money with the Ling family members. After all, even blood brothers must keep their accounts clear, let alone the fact that they weren’t even related. By the time they finished dividing the profits, it was already getting late, so Hua Buwan headed back to her supermarket.

Upon returning, Hua Buwan sat down on a stool, leaned back, and closed her eyes. She felt utterly exhausted, both physically and mentally. Taking a deep breath, she tried to force herself to relax.

After a moment, she opened her eyes and began inventorying the ceramic bowls, chopsticks, and clay pots she had just exchanged with the ancients. Pulling them out of her bag, she arranged the items one by one on the table. She meticulously inspected each piece to ensure there were no cracks or flaws. She then counted the ceramic dinnerware, confirming the total exactly matched the number she had agreed upon with the ancients. She double-checked the clay pots, finding their quality to be excellent and entirely free of any defects.

Hua Buwan was extremely satisfied. She knew these ceramic wares and pots held significant value in modern society; they could easily bring in a handsome profit. Carefully packing everything back into the bag, she tucked it underneath the table. She decided to take these items to the old appraiser’s place tomorrow. She was confident they would be interested—especially Wen Erya, who was absolutely obsessed with anything from Dongxuan Country.

The next day.

Hua Buwan slept in until she woke up naturally, the morning sunlight spilling across her face through the gaps in the curtains. She stretched lazily, washed up, and carefully gathered the antique ceramics before heading to Grandpa Feng’s pawnshop. Along the way, she was in high spirits, eagerly hoping these antiques would fetch a good appraisal price.

When she finally arrived at the pawnshop, she gently pushed the door open, immediately greeted by the familiar scent of aged wood. Grandpa Feng was sitting behind the counter. Seeing Hua Buwan walk in, he smiled and stood up to welcome her.

She placed her items on the counter. Putting on his reading glasses, Grandpa Feng began closely inspecting each piece. He picked up a ceramic bowl, lightly running his fingers over the intricate patterns, before moving on to carefully study the designs etched into the clay pots.

After a while, he looked up at Hua Buwan and said, "These antiques are all quite exceptional. This ceramic dinnerware, in particular, features exquisite craftsmanship and is perfectly preserved. It should be worth quite a bit of money."

Hearing this, Hua Buwan rejoiced inwardly.

Grandpa Feng continued, "However, we’ll need further appraisal to determine the exact price. I’ll invite a professional appraiser over to take a look, and then I can give you an accurate valuation."

Because Feng Chengde wasn’t deeply specialized in antique ceramics, he didn’t dare set a price recklessly. Hua Buwan had no objections to this. She nodded and said, "Okay, thank you, Grandpa Feng."

Grandpa Feng smiled. "You’re very welcome; it’s the least I could do. Head on back and wait for my news. I’ll contact you as soon as possible."

After thanking him once more, Hua Buwan left the pawnshop. Naturally, she took all the antique ceramics back with her.

Little did she know, no sooner had she stepped out the door than Grandpa Feng called her on her phone. He had already managed to get ahold of his contacts, and they could appraise the items right this minute!

Hua Buwan realized she had just walked all that way for absolutely nothing.

She had no idea that the very second she left the shop, Grandpa Feng had grabbed his phone with trembling hands to call for an expert. His expression had been utterly frantic with excitement, to the point where tears were practically welling up in his eyes.
