Chapter 230: Lightning Speed
Chapter 230: Chapter 230: Lightning Speed
After seeing off the government officers, Hua Buwan and the others started cleaning up the mess at their stall before setting off—for a massive feast!
Hua Buwan led the Ling family into the most bustling restaurant in town. The moment they stepped through the doors, the mouthwatering aroma of food washed over them, making their stomachs rumble even louder. Generously, Hua Buwan found a large table for them to sit at and beckoned for the Ling family to look at the menu together. It was filled with a dazzling array of options. Without hesitation, she ordered a bunch of signature dishes, including braised pork belly, sweet and sour spare ribs, and steamed fish.
Xu Panqing hurriedly spoke up. "Miss Wan, isn’t it too expensive to order this much food?"
Ling Qianfan chimed in, "Yeah, Buwan. The few of us won’t be able to finish all this."
Ling Yunge gently tugged at Hua Buwan’s sleeve and said softly, "Sister Buwan, there’s no need to spend so much. Something simple would be fine."
Ling Qianjun looked completely serious. "Sister Buwan, doing this makes us feel quite indebted to you."
Hua Buwan smiled faintly. "Don’t worry, everyone. I just want you all to try more delicious food. Besides, today is a special day worth celebrating."
Looking at her sincere smile, a wave of warmth surged in the hearts of the Ling family. Knowing she genuinely wanted to make them happy, they stopped insisting otherwise and broke into smiles of their own.
It wasn’t long before all the dishes were served. Hua Buwan picked up her chopsticks and began to chow down. She ate heartily until her mouth was glistening with oil, constantly praising the delicious food. Infected by her massive appetite, the Ling family also dug in.
By the end of the meal, Hua Buwan and the Ling family were completely stuffed. They leaned back in their chairs in satisfaction, happy smiles radiating across their faces.
Hua Buwan footed the bill and led the Ling family out of the restaurant. By now, it was already afternoon. They decided to stroll around the town to experience the local customs and atmosphere.
Hua Buwan took Ling Qianfan, Ling Qianjun, Xu Panqing, and Ling Yunge on a tour of the local shops. True to its reputation, this seaside town boasted a dazzling array of seafood. They walked into a fish market where all sorts of fish swam in large water tanks. There were colorful species she couldn’t even name, alongside plump sea bass, cod, and groupers. Hua Buwan watched with great interest, feeling as though she had stepped into an aquarium.
Next, they visited a dried goods store packed with various preserved seafood, such as scallops, sea cucumbers, and salted fish. When an excessive amount of fresh seafood was caught and became difficult to sell or transport quickly, the locals would salt and dry it in the sun. This way, the food could be preserved for a long time and became much easier to store.
Ling Qianfan and Ling Qianjun were very interested in these dried goods. They carefully identified the items, thinking that if they ever caught such seafood themselves, they could try drying and storing it at home to eat later or sell.
Meanwhile, Xu Panqing and Ling Yunge walked into a jewelry shop where the accessories were exquisitely crafted from shells and pearls. They were both fascinated by the shell earrings and necklaces, feeling that they could make similar items in the future.
After finishing their shopping, they left the town fully loaded, carrying a bountiful haul and wonderful memories as they planned to head back to the stone house.
Walking back was out of the question; Hua Buwan felt as if her legs no longer belonged to her. Seeing that the road halfway back was deserted, they double-checked their surroundings before hopping back onto her small electric scooter, speeding back toward home like lightning.
