Chapter 243: Chapter 243: We All Want to Go Along
Suddenly changing their current situation and actively integrating into this community was undoubtedly a challenging task for them.
Hua Buwan fully understood the weight of this responsibility. She walked solemnly over to Ling Qianjun, patted him heavily on the shoulder, and spoke earnestly.
"It’s all up to you now! You need to act quickly and get to know everyone in the village as thoroughly as possible. Don’t just look into their family backgrounds and living conditions; you also need to figure out their personalities, moral character, and everything in between. Remember, don’t overlook a single detail! I know this will be a tedious job, but I have complete confidence in you. With your abilities, I’m sure you’ll do an outstanding job!"
After delivering her speech, Hua Buwan looked at him with encouraging eyes, fully expecting him to rise to the occasion.
Not far away, Xu Panqing, Ling Yunge, and Ling Qianfan had been enjoying a leisurely stroll along the beach. They suddenly noticed Hua Buwan and Ling Qianjun stop in their tracks and turn to stare off in a specific direction. Piqued by curiosity, the trio instinctively followed their line of sight. Their gazes eventually settled on the peaceful, tranquil village in the distance.
They wondered why Hua Buwan and Ling Qianjun were staring at the settlement so intently. Brimming with curiosity, they continued to watch.
What they didn’t expect, however, was to overhear Hua Buwan’s instructions. Her words struck Xu Panqing, Ling Yunge, and Ling Qianfan like a bolt of lightning. After all, they knew better than anyone that Ling Qianjun was a man of few words who rarely even cracked a smile. Asking him to take the initiative to socialize with an entire village was next to impossible!
Unable to contain her shock, Xu Panqing hurried over in a few quick strides, her eyes wide as she stared at her son. Ling Yunge followed close behind, while Ling Qianfan trailed at the rear with a highly amused expression.
Xu Panqing furrowed her brow slightly and spoke up in a soft voice. "Well... I don’t think it’s very appropriate for Qianjun to go alone! There might be women living by themselves in the village, or elderly grandmothers raising their grandchildren. If you ask me, I should accompany him. I’m his mother, after all. It’ll be much easier for me to communicate with the older folks, and they’ll be more likely to trust me. That way, I can help smooth things over."
Ling Yunge nodded eagerly. "Yes, exactly! I need to go with Qianjun too! I’m just a kid, so I might be able to get a lot of information out of the other children when we chat! Adults always hide things when they talk, but kids are different. Give them a few pieces of candy and they’ll chatter away far more than the grown-ups do—and they’ll be completely honest!"
Ling Qianfan leaned in to chime in as well. "Yeah, Yunge is absolutely right! I should tag along with Qianjun too. Look at me—don’t I look a bit foolish? Heh, when those villagers see this silly face of mine, they’ll let their guard down and might just spill all their secrets!"
