Chapter 247: Chapter 247: We Are Not in a Hurry
"If you can really offer a discount, I’ll buy a bar to try at home. Consider it a way to support your business!" another villager shouted.
"Exactly! If the price of this soap is even a tiny bit cheaper than in town, we’ll definitely consider buying a bar to take back!" The others chimed in one after another, refusing to be left out.
Ling Qianjun and Xu Panqing looked completely at ease, not in a hurry at all. After patiently listening to the villagers, Ling Qianjun skillfully untied a waterskin from his waist, while Xu Panqing delicately picked up a bar of soap that emanated a captivating floral fragrance. Working seamlessly together under the watchful eyes of the crowd, the two began a captivating little "performance."
Ling Qianjun carefully poured clear, cool water from the skin over the fragrant soap. Meanwhile, Xu Panqing dabbed her fingers into some mud on the ground, deliberately dirtying her pale, slender hands. She then expertly squeezed out some of the richly scented soapy water and began to gently rub her hands together. Before long, fine, cotton-candy-like suds foamed up.
In an instant, the intoxicating floral scent seemed to come alive, enveloping her delicate hands. The elegant fragrance fluttered like a light butterfly, rapidly wafting outward and drifting straight into the noses of the nearby villagers.
The noisy, chaotic scene instantly fell dead silent. Everyone was deeply drawn to this magical sight. The villagers stared with wide, unblinking eyes, their gazes firmly locked on Xu Panqing’s nimble hands and the enchanting floral soap.
Once she had satisfyingly rinsed off all the lather with the clean water from the skin, Xu Panqing slowly opened her palms, displaying them to the crowd. Her hands looked like freshly carved jade—flawless, pale, and smooth. The mud and grime from earlier had vanished without a trace. Moreover, a faint floral scent lingered on her skin. The elegant, pleasant fragrance wafted gently through the air, intoxicating everyone who caught a whiff.
Xu Panqing had no idea that her hands appeared so flawlessly pale in the eyes of the villagers. In truth, during her exile, gathering wild vegetables and doing hard labor had made her hands much rougher than before; she could even see the calluses forming on her palms. Compared to how they used to be, there was a stark difference.
But from the villagers’ perspective, they were incredibly beautiful. They had never seen such gorgeous hands before. At that moment, they all wondered if her hands looked so stunning because she used this soap frequently. Suddenly, their desire for the soap surged, as if it possessed some sort of magical power.
By the time the villagers snapped out of their daze, Ling Qianjun had guided Xu Panqing to sit off to the side. He addressed the crowd, "Everyone, don’t rush. We get our stock for this soap from that family in Zhen Town. With the back-and-forth travel, we’re just earning a small fee for our labor. Since we’re all from the same village, we’ll knock a copper off the price of each bar for everyone.
"To let everyone choose their favorite scent, we can make different kinds of soapy water for you to smell. You can decide before you buy. There’s no rush."
As Ling Qianjun spoke, he took out various types of soap. He plucked a few large leaves from nearby, folded them into square trays, and mixed the soapy water inside them.
