Wilderness (Special Base)

As the night passed, the sounds of the corrupted beasts appeared. They were coming out of their hideouts into the night.

Jeremy Night was inside a tree hole. He opened his eyes and used his second eye power to look around. He saw no beast activity in his area.

The sounds were coming from afar. After making sure, he closed his eyes to begin a half-sleep.

The sounds of the corrupted beasts continued to increase.

A few hours later,

[Don’t sleep. There is danger nearby.]

Just as Jeremy Night was about to fall asleep, a female voice sounded in his mind. The adult female voice was familiar to him.

How could he forget? It was the voice of the unknown beast egg. It was his lifeline beast.

Hearing that, he opened his eyes. The next second, he looked around the place.

[Don’t make any movements. A Tier-7 Beast is walking by. It could detect a human Beast Tamer from that distance.]

The female voice sounded again. Hearing that, Jeremy Night’s heart set off a storm of emotions.

He knew it was the voice of his own lifeline beast.

Jeremy Night didn’t know how to express his emotions. He was extremely happy, joyful, and excited.

He had been relying on the hope that his lifeline beast would hatch one day, and he had been pouring resources into it since Day 1.

[Don’t worry, you have given me enough resources to wake me up. I will come out soon.]

The female voice sounded again. Hearing that, he was stunned and asked, "You can hear my thoughts?"

[Yes, I’m your contract beast, and you have bonded a contract with me. If you want privacy, you can shut off your thoughts.]

Hearing that, his eyes flashed with understanding.

"I thought you would be a cub, but your voice sounds like an adult. You can think and speak well," he said.

[Well, it’s a long story. I will tell you some other day. I’m going to rest now.]

After saying that, the female voice went quiet.

"Hey, I wanted to ask your name. Do you have a name, or should I give you one?" he asked.

But there was no response. He thought that since the voice was adult, the beast must be mature, but for some reason, it was still in egg form. And it must have a name as well.

Jeremy then pushed those thoughts aside. He needed to spend the rest of the night without making any noise.

Time passed.

When morning came, he exited the tree hole early and resumed the journey. He was still in shock from the conversation with his lifeline beast last night.

So much so that he hadn’t slept at all; he had been awake the whole night. He then took out the device and checked the map.

He was going in the right direction. Once he reached the destination, he would put the tech helmet on his head.

He was using his eye power to explore the path ahead. He came across changing terrain; sometimes the land was flat, and other times it was filled with dense vegetation.

Upon seeing the dense vegetation again, he didn’t draw his blade. Instead, he used the starlight thread.

Swoosh!

A single long thread extended from his index finger. It was up to four meters in length. Jeremy knew that length was similar to that of a longsword.

The starlight thread was sturdy and strong. Unless he willed it to bend, the starlight thread wouldn’t bend. He then began to cut down the entangled vines to clear a way for himself.

He didn’t want to take a detour; it was a waste of time.

Cut!

The blade cut through the strong vines like nothing. The sliced parts fell to the ground.

While walking forward, he was also using his eye power to observe his surroundings. Last night, he had been warned by the lifeline beast.

Even with his current strength, he couldn’t detect the threat, but the lifeline beast had been able to sense it.

So he was trying to make as little noise as possible. As he cleared the way, his eyes spotted a corrupted beast.

It was not like other corrupted beasts, but a plant-type corrupted beast. He then used his eye powers to observe further.

He saw that green vines had entangled the tree completely. They were like parasites, sucking the vitality from the huge tree.

He then gauged the strength of the vine beasts. They were mostly lower tier, but a few of them were strong.

There were Tier-5 and Tier-6 beasts as well. Jeremy wondered whether to fight or not. He didn’t want to waste time.

Swoosh!

Right then, a vine beast came shooting toward him. It was a Tier-4 beast. Jeremy simply used his index finger to make a slash.

Slash!

The single starlight thread cut through the vine body of the beast. Before the beast could fall down, he made multiple slashes.

Puchak!

Green blood splattered across the ground. The vine body was sliced into many pieces.

Thud!

One by one, the body parts fell to the ground. The Tier-4 beast was killed in one move.

Rustle!

A loud rustling sound came from the tree. Obviously, the other vine beasts were enraged. There was only one Tier-6 vine beast entangled around the tree.

Its length was over 20 meters. It possessed intelligence. The beast thought that the human was only a Tier-4 Beast Tamer and that it would be easy to kill him.

But the beast was wrong. It ordered the other vine beasts not to react. The Tier-4 and Tier-5 vine beasts quieted down all of a sudden.

They stopped making any noise.

Jeremy watched everything. He wondered whether they were going to make a move or not.

[They are scared right now. They won’t attack. You can walk past them casually.]

The female voice sounded in his mind again.

Hearing that, he was shocked. Then he collected his thoughts and trusted the lifeline beast.

Jeremy retracted the starlight thread back into his body. He took a step forward and saw no reaction from the vine beasts.

They did not move away from the tree, including the Tier-6 vine beast. Seeing that, he confidently walked past them.

As he walked away from the place, no beast followed him.
